That is awesome to hear! It couldn't have broke at a better time. The switch installation will be a while I have a switch that will work. But I want to go back inside the wheel and fix the ps3 side as well. I felt kinda bummy for not doing the job 100% If you are interested in a handbrake or a sequential shifter mod stay tuned I am going to be putting out a pretty cool video here shortly that will save massive amounts of money in that area for console people. And best part of all...going back inside the wheel is a thing of the past.

Could you explain a bit more what you did? The tiny black piece that switches between ps3 and ps4 has broken off on mine and I can't put it back, so it's stuck on ps3 mode, would be great if I can fix it without a soldering iron!

So just the case around the switch broke leaving the actual switch in tact? If so you are one lucky wheel owner. I wish mine would have broke like that. I actually ordered a fanatec dd only the 5nm with the 8nm power upgrade. Hopefully I can start recording some content for this channel.

@@1990rexyB18A1 honestly dude I have been trying to fix this for months, I bodged it before and got it working but would take me 15 mins plus each time trying to get it to work and then it just completely quit. I looked up and all.i could find was that it was unfixable. Your walk through was spot on man, honestly really appreciate it.

@@scotthinchliffe5741 When I broke mine there wasn't a way in the world I was going to let that be the end of the wheel. They are not the most expensive thing but definitely not cheap enough to just run out and buy another. Glad you stayed dedicated and determined to fix your issues as well!

I'm on a TMX with T3PA pedals and T8HA shifter. I have no spare USB slots for extras and currently using a Paddle shifter as a Ebrake. I wanted to get a Car ebrake mounted to my rig but lost on how to get it to work. I dont really want to have to open the wheel and solder as its brand new (just replaced under Warranty)

Yes sir! I actually soldered one of the wires to the wrong point on the board. I will copy and paste a description that will walk you through it though.

1:48 is when I solder the first wire to the board which is the white one this is the one that is not needed. In order to use PS4 mode solder the black and green wires like I have in the video. If you want to access your PS3 mode there is one more solder point to the right of the green one I did not do this to my mine. Nothing is needed for the four pieces surrounding the 3 solder points as they were only holding the switch in place.

Not a problem at all if you look closely in the video I almost made the same mistake and honestly thought I connected two of the contacts together which from further research as long as it was on the PS4 side I would have been able to dodge the issue. Let me just make sure I'm understanding you correctly. The three contact points where the switch is at on your wheel is now damaged?

If you can touch the wires to the circuit board every time you power it on I'm pretty sure you will be fine without the soldering. It just needs that initial startup and you're good to go until you turn off the computer. I don't own PS5 but I think it would work the same way.

Not a problem at all thank you for checking out the video! There are three main contact points in the video I actually soldered the white wire to a ground which should have been soldered to the 3rd pin. I didn't realize what I was doing at the beginning but now I'm sure as to what I did wrong. I hope this isn't too confusing. I have been meaning to make a follow up video but work has been kicking my tail! If you stick around when I do upload my new g29 video I will show you how to wire in a handbrake and a sequential shifter and still be able to use your paddle shifters and the best part is you can detach it with USB.

I think it may just automatically connect to PC. Ps4 the switch or wires have to touch.

That could very well be the case but then again there could be a app to download on ps5. Unfortunately I don't have access to a p5 so I can't confirm 100%. One question since you own a 5 is there any chance you have a old ps4 laying around you could test it on?

@@1990rexyB18A1 yeah there is, but usually it always worked without any apps or hassle, but after opening it up for the first time for the wheel replacement, it never worked again. Do you think it can be possible to change the mode back to ps4 without having to solder anything?

After a while I realized the white wire is not needed. The black and green wire can stay connected at all times. However I think they only have to touch long enough for the wheel to calibrate and they shouldn't have to touch again until the wheel is unplugged or loses power. If you have no desire to ever use your PlayStation 3 switch it's safe to leave them together.

Stuntmanjdm Thanks a lot!!!! I had to use a Cronus max drive hub to use the g29 because it was stuck on PS3 mode for my ps4....

@@ariesr4883 I was going to get their new device the chronuszen but then I got the rig working the way I needed it. I have heard chronusmax has far better scripts and community than the titan two. Glad to hear you can finally free up a extra usb port that's awesome. 👍

It's around 24 to 26 gauge. I cut a old broken USB data cable open and it gave me tons of wire. The plain power cables only have red and black wires inside from my experience so far. The data cables are going to give you two more and should be white and green.

Thank you for your question this is a first for me. I feel like I can perfectly picture it from your description. Sadly I am not sure if the leads can be traced. The only motivation I can give you is to try the sanding method. As I see it right now in this moment in time if the wheel isn't working it may be your only option. I'm sorry I can't help you more. 😔 please keep me informed if you attempt to do so. I have never search for it but you may be able to buy another board but if it is pricey you may be better off purchasing another wheel setup. I know that's not ideal at all but I understand the pains of having a rig you can't drive.

I sanded back the PCB and found the traces pretty easily however when i try to short the 3 lanes with some pliers (should be the same effect as you you with the 3 cables on the video) my wheel still doesn't work. I'm playing on PC, so the switch itself doesn't really matter, my issue is that none of the buttons on the rim works so i was hoping that would fix it maybe. I bought this wheel as broken so the sole intention was trying to fix it, but maybe there's some other issue with it too i'm yet to find. Do you think shorting these lanes permamently with some solder would be an issue, so it's like it's in PS4 mode? that would at least eliminate that problem with the switch missing

@@MedekTheOne try doing it with only two of the leads either the first two or the the last two. I'm pretty sure the first two are ps3 mode and the the connection with the second and third leads will be ps4 mode. I actually have mine hard soldered with the 2nd and 3rd and it works on ps4 and PC like a charm. I'm not on ps3 anymore so it was worth the hard constant solder for sure. As far as the buttons not working look over the board and make sure they didn't use the wrong screws when the previous owner may have damaged the board elsewhere. Maybe check near the six holes in the middle of the wheel where the black Allen screws are located. Thank goodness you are on PC it gives you a far better chance for success.

What game are you playing on the pc? It sounds like it may possibly be a settings issue. I'm pretty sure the wheel works fine in ps3 mode as long as it's on computer.

@@1990rexyB18A1 carxdrift , fh5 all settings ok when i turn wheel to other side to drift , the wheel spin fast and the car go other side , what's different between ps3 and ps4 mode ?

@@2driving_mromiz667 @2driving_mr omiz I am actually hardwired into PS4 due to me making a boo boo while soldering. As long as you have it registering PS3 you should be completely fine. The only difference between PS3 and PS4 mode that I have noticed is the difference between each console. As long as you are in one certain mode pc should pick it up with no issue. I have the same issue on Forza Horizon 5 when I has my force feedback settings turned up too high. Try dialing it down a drastic amount and see if that may have a little effect. Sorry I can't help more. Keep on responding to me though and I may be able to help you dial everything in.

Unfortunately no it does not once the switch breaks console nor PC can pick up on the device. It's almost like an on-off-on switch. Before I messed mine up and hard soldered PS4 mode only I was going to install an on off on switch.

Man I apologize I never got around to doing the toggle switch I ended up moving over to PC and hardwired my G29 into PS4 mode only. I do know 100% that the toggle switch should be on off on non-momentary meaning when you switch it to the right it will stay to the right when you switch it to the left it will stay to the left. Message me back with any other questions I will definitely try to walk you through things. I have actually stopped using the G29 and got a g923 for Xbox which was a horrible purchase. I should have just went direct drive which is my next move I have been talking about it for too long.

Are you talking about the main cable that comes through the center to the circuit board inside the rim? Are the pedals still working or no?

@@1990rexyB18A1 the main cable yes from the mainboard of the steering wheel to the second main board.

Are they just cut in half or did they come out of the white clip connector on the end or the cord?

Are you meaning you lost the switch? Like it broke off inside of the wheel?

If you are 100% sure that you are going to use it for PC only then you can hard solder it into PlayStation 4 mode or PS3 mode. The PC should pick up on it immediately but only once it it's in PS4 or PS3 mode. Since this video I have removed the wires and just soldered two points together. They are extremely close on the circuit board so it shouldn't be too hard to bridge the connection. My wheel will forever be on the PS4 mode now and works on both my playstation and PC.

so i just hard solder only two middle one and ps4?

@@PerunaPiraatti if you solder together the two points where I put the black and the green wires you will get your wheel working for PS4 and PC.

I think they can stay connected as long as you don't mind sticking with one platform. I will be taking this set up apart one more time when I get my new wheel and fix it permanently with a two way switch. I realized after putting the wheel back together the white wire was not needed. I thought the connection would have needed a ground but I was wrong. Thank you for the question and I will get you a solid answer when I get off of work this afternoon.

So I just got home and I am testing it right now so far as long as I leave the black and the green wire together was able to power the PlayStation 4 on at the console and from there with the wheel I can select my user profile start up the game and drive. So far so good. The white wire was not necessary.

@@rcmontalbo6975 not sure if you read above but after further use I realized that the white wire was not needed. I honestly think if the white wire was soldered to the PS3 part on the board then you can put an on off on switch somewhere on the face of the wheel and be able to switch between both ps3 and ps4 modes.

You should be able to use it on PC no matter what mode it's in without any issues as far for the PS4 having to recalibrate itself it may have something to do with the 10 minute timer PlayStation's got worked into their systems somewhere. I haven't played PS4 in quite some time but I'm actually thinking about getting on and running a couple games for some new RU-vid content so I will be getting a lot of time on there coming up soon. I do remember my wheel having to recalibrate itself every now and then but that's when I was using a Titan 2 device it normally doesn't recalibrate itself when it's plugged directly into the PS4 see if you have any frays or bends in your USB cable leading to the PS4. Maybe a pinched wire near or underneath the base of the wheel? It could be anything and it sucks that these wheels aren't a little bit easier to work with. I currently have all of the ripped off of the circuit board. I have permanently soldered into PS4 mode and it works on my PC no questions asked. Loads up with GHUB immediately when the PC turns on. I hope I haven't rambled on too much but there is a lot of things that go into making these wheels function properly.

I have not a clue why I never seen your response until 8 months later. I hope you have your push button installed. It is definitely 100 percent possible for sure. Key turn ignition is even a option with just a bit of imagination and modding.

If you want to leave it in PS4 mode you can wrap the black and the green wire together and just tuck them inside the wheel in a safe place where they don't touch any other circuitry. I left the wires out is because Im going to add a toggle switch. I also have to go back into the wheel and move the white wire to the third contact point where the switch was because I'm pretty sure I put it on the switch casing.

@@zoltanpinkola8972 if you want to leave it in PS4 mode then you will solder the points where the green wire and the black wire is. I accidentally ended up messing up later on after this video and now my wheel is currently stuck in PS4 mode lol. I just have to quit being lazy and resolder it. But yes sir your question wasn't a crazy one at all. Looking directly face forward towards the wheel the middle and the right points will make the PS3 activate. The middle and the left point will active PS4.

This is exactly what I plan on doing when I take my wheel back apart which will be in the next day or two and I will upload a more extensive video. when I soldered the white wire in I actually soldered it to the switch holding contact point and not the PS3 mode so as long as I leave the black and green wire together the wheel boots and PS4 mode every time. as long as I'm understanding you correctly I think he will be fine with what you were trying to do.

Is it g920? If so you could buy a drive hub it will allow you to use the Xbox wheel on ps4 or 5. You will need a third-party ps controller as well.

@@jonahandflip7000 the 923 isn't a bad wheel at all. The drive hub device will work with this setup as well. I can confirm 100%. The only thing I don't like about the wheel is the plus and minus buttons will not work on Xbox. That little dial on the right isn't functional either. But fr ever since I bought this drive hub I haven't used my g29 at all. Every console and PC runs off my Xbox g923.

Yes it will have to been in one mode at least. If you are doing pc it doesn't matter whether it's ps3 or 4. I would honestly do the 4 though just incase anything tries to hold you back.

You can use it you just have to wire it into PS3 mode I didn't do PS3 in the video I only did PS4 mode. My wheel is currently hard wired to PS4 so I will never be able to use it unless I learn how to be solder but you should be fine.

The cords I found were at Dollar Tree in the cellphone section. I buy everyone of them off the shelve when I see them in stock. Extremely quick to change out attachments. They have a male end on one side and a female end on the opposite. I just cut the wire in half and boom you have open ends for your wheel and switch. What game and platform are you on? I have found some amazing things along the way that have made my driving experience so much more enjoyable and for little to no money at that.

yo i honestly didnt think you were going to reply, i appreciate it im about to run to the dollar store as i type. im on ps4 i want to know how i can get my buttons/cords setup how u have yours so i can make a handbrake. i miss playing on my wheel but it just wasnt turning on and your literally the only person i found that made a video to fix it

@Famousboikey I definitely try to respond as quick and as thorough as possible. I really couldn't imagine coming home and not being able to get on my wheel. With that being said I'm always down to help a fellow Wheelman. There is a way to do it on PS4 using a Titan 2 device which allows you to use a lot more than just a handbrake. The device is around 100 bucks but the things it will allow you to do is nuts. Let me know when you get your wires. Honestly you could do it with extremely small gauge wire if you don't find the USB at the dollar store. The only thing you will lose out on is the Quick Connect function.

Man I went back into the wheel a while ago. When I was putting everything back together I broke both switches for the paddles. I'm having to use my sequential shifter for now. Not sure if I'm going to order another circuit board or even deal with the switches on the current one. I soldered the PS4 mode directly on the circuit board so it's permanently locked in PS4. This was the last straw. I think I'm done with Logitech they have disappointed me extremely. No handbrake add on or anything! Had to do it all in house.

It has been quite a while since I did the mod I'm about to knock out for the night but I will check my video and go back to the comments so I can give you detailed information and time stamps on where to pause the vid for circuit board screenshots.

Unfortunately I don't think so. Not 100% if an adapter may fix it. I didn't check to see if the pc would pick it up before fixing either Sadly.

@@1990rexyB18A1 Heyyy, So i was gettting ads about buying a new motherboard and I noticed theres usually a thing popping out from where the ps3 ps4 switch is on the motherboard. I opened up and checked that I had actually broken the switch when i first opened it. I checked on the mother board and noticed a bit of a gap, luckily the switch didnt fall off but just broke in half, the other half was still in when i tried shifting it into the ps4 mode i heard a click and BOOOOOMMM it started working

@@omgupta5090 that is awesome news to hear everything is back working again. It almost sounds like you went through the same thing I did. When I broke mine the first time. There was a small rectangle that snapped off the top of the switch. Then when I took the wheel apart I ended up breaking the whole thing altogether.

@budimanramadhan451 the mst-102 will be perfect. For what you are needing button press wise and size wise. That's the exact one I was going to use. Just never got around to it. I'm on pc now and never got around to posting a final video.

@@1990rexyB18A1 So if we're looking at the soldiering points around that switch, there are 7 of them, and for the PS4, you have connected the 2nd (white), 3rd (black) and 4th (green), then later realized white was unnecessary, so it only needs the 3rd and 4th soldiering points connected (temporarily at least). Do you know what points need to be connected for the PS3 version? On a side note - I'm digging the junk-yard / logitech amalgamations. Very cool stuff.
