Thank you for pointing out the differences between the two products - great review!. As a side note, for people that work from home and require switching between a work computer (usually a PC with security restrictions) and a personal computer (like a Mac), I would recommend the Logitech MX Anywhere 3 with the dongle option. Among the usual restrictions is that Bluetooth connections are limited or non-existent on the work computer so having a dongle is critical to have that connectivity. I hope Logitech comes out with a Logi dongle for their mice, so both the keyboard (MX Anywhere variants) and the mouse can work off of the same dongle.

You can actually connect the Mac version using a unifying receiver, it just doesn’t include one in the box.

thanks for this video. I don't know why Logitech makes things so confusing. I'll probably go with the mac version as I have a few unifying receivers already from previous mice. I figure I can always use a usb c to usba adapter if need to.

They put so much effort into trying to blend in their product with apple's design such as using the white box, marketing to state that its only compatible with macos and ipad, using a usb-c to usb-c connector cable, except they forgot one thing: Apple devices don't use black cables... it looks really odd to have a black cable with that mouse.

MX Anywhere 2 and MX Anywhere 3 as well as other logitech mouses used to have bluetooth issues when using with Apple laptops, on both Mac and Windows in Bootcamp. I have two macbooks, and the same MX Anywhere 3 perfectly works on one and works terrible via bluetooth with another one. These compatibility issues are so common, I suppose that is the most important Diffrence everyone hope to know from the review.

This is what I was looking for. He didn't speak at all about software optimization, because my "regular" MX Anywhere 3 has major issues on bluetooth skipping around on screen with my M2 Air. I'm going to purchase a refurbished MX Anywhere 2 for Mac and see if it solves this issue

Do you think the silicon will be sticky after a few months like what happens with the rubber on MX Master 3? I mean, the rubber degrades exactly where the tip of your ring rests on the mouse and it gets sticky 100% of the time, doesn't matter how much you clean it.

Answered most my ??s. I am primarily everything Mac so Mac version makes perfect sense, but, I wanna use w/ a mini PC w/ thunderbolt / C, but, it has Logitech unifying receiver already, so can it connect that way (or does it not have the radio inside to do it). Or for BIOS set up, can I used it wired off the back of my monitor?

Wow, thanks man for the clarification, now I am happy I didn't order Mac version. I am an apple user and sadly enough I see now how corporations take apple users for fools. I would not recommend the Mac version to anyone, almost every household has a Type A power adapter, even build into a wall outlet. It should not be a problem to charge the mice, and you get a dongle as a bonus.

What about the ipados compatibility? Will the window version works well on ipad? I guess the different will be scrolling on ipad os cause i see the scrolling shown different. Actually, scrolling via mouse on ipados is a pain in the ass

You can use either version with bluetooth on most bluetooth systems, so you don't NEED the mac version at all

I have the non mac version and the fwd and back button on the mouse only works in an internet browser window. it does not work in file explorer. can you or someone tell me if the mac version works in the finder windows....?

The only 2 details I would like to have known, but that were not covered are: 1) Will both versions work with a Mac using the wired connection if for some reason I want Bluetooth turned off (security in public) or if the mouse is low on charge and 2) Even though the "generic" version comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable; if I want to use it with a MacBook that only has USB-C, can I not just use a USB-C to USB-C cable and it will still work with the "generic" version of this mouse? If so, for the price of a USB-C cable, is there any question as to which mouse would offer more flexibility? Thanks in advance if you're able to answer those questions!!

The generic mouse will work with any cable cable that supports data pass thru as long as the computer you're plugging it in to supports the mouse and the cable supports data it should work

Yes, you can. Having issues with the Logitech Options software though as I cannot get it to install. Without the software, I do not have horizontal scrolling via the mouse on the Mac. Horizontal scrolling works on Chrome without the software though.

One important question for me: Can I get the regular version (not the mac one) And get a OEM Usb C to Usb C cable and charge it from my macbook? I Guess yes, but since you have both you can test it. Even though I always use bluetooth when available is good to have the unifying receiver option, since is a travel mouse maybe I want to use it a PC where there is no Bluetooth. Or the bluetooth is old and slow. But I want to be able to charge it from the usb c port on my mac

Yes, I believe it's exactly the same mouse. The only difference is the choice of included cable and RF receiver, and branding.

Hi, My MX Master 3 has gotten sticky because the rubber coating has worn down even though I haven’t used it that much. Does the MX Anywhere 3 have the same rubber coating? I’m looking to get a more compact mouse, and it seems like a good option, but I’d like to avoid the same problem with the coating. Cleaning it doesn’t do the trick, rubbing alcohol supposedly wears down the rubber even more. Thanks for any input!

This is exactly what I'm worrying about. My MX Master 3 is sticky forever now. Doesn't matter how much I clean it. The rubber material has degraded exactly where you rest the tip of your finger.

@@cauebahia Hi there, I now use the Anywhere, and it has ever so slightly degraded on the primary mouse click button over the course of four-ish months. So it’s been miles better for me than the Master. I say go for it if you’re tempted, I’m so glad I did.

@@SigurdKempf Do you feel that it's made from a different material than the MX Master 3? It's suppose to be silicon instead of rubber. I think I'm gonna give it a try. Hope it won't be sticky where the fingertip rests on the device.

@@cauebahia Yes and no. There's definitely parts pf to that are the same or close to. But there's much less of the material that got sticky. I'm not entirely sure whether they're made from the same material in those spots, but they feel somewhat similar - this one just hasn't gotten sticky. I don't have them side by side, so I'm afraid I can't compare them directly. I just know that the Anywhere seems better in feel - and hasn't gotten sticky. Good luck!

Thanks for the review. The most stupid thing Logitech made here, is to split this in two packages (regular vs Mac). Truly, and I was convinced even before watching your video that the mices would work no matter what OS you're on, they would have done better to ship one and only package (regular), but with a USB-C to USB-A cable and USB-C to USB-C cable, or at least a USB-C to USB-A dongle. This would have made the mouse more universal, for all possible devices (PC, TV, ...), and then customer chooses between usb or bluetooth connection.

Exactly. I just bought the regular one for my iPad and I just used blue tooth not the receiver and it works. It doesn’t make sense. I can charge in any usb outlet.

mouse movement and scrolling are not smooth when I used the regular version on Mac (on windows it was pretty great) but have not used Mac specific version whether it will also behave in same way. If Mac version behaved the same, then Logitech needs to work on their tech.

This is a note from LOGITECH manual. So I found the answer, thanks Chika ! NOTE: Your MX Anywhere 3 for Mac is also compatible with the Logitech Unifying receiver. The Unifying wireless receiver is a USB dongle accessory that allows you to connect the mouse to the computer using USB. It can be useful if you prefer to avoid or cannot use the direct Bluetooth Low Energy connection. It can be purchased here on the Logitech website or in selected retailers.
