Logue & McCool on the Final on Live at 3 Search for A Star | 1990
In 1990 the duo from Derry decided to enter a heat in Limavady in the hope they would get noticed. They did just that, beating all 300 acts who entered nationwide and ending up on the Search for A Star Final and winning it. Their harmony and vocals were just second to none. They had a style of singing that only few acts in Irish country music can pull off. Being the only country act in the final on that night, they were worthy winners.
They won a recording contract with Harmac Music and under the new management of Tony Loughman headed off to Nashville to record in The Merit Studio’s ran by Porter Wagoner’s legendary record producer Tom Pick, who recorded many Irish Artists before them - Philomena, Susan, Frankie McBride & Gloria to name a few.
I would say on that evening the judges had an easy pick. How could you go wrong with this act and their version of Cowboy Rides Away.
