I loved this episode and everything about it! When Loki figured it out and said "I can rewrite the story" then the music swells and then basically stops when he time slips and instant cut to black and the credits with the amazing main theme gave me such chills, I literally am getting goosebumps just thinking about it! I don't know about the comic run that Loki being the god of stories but I love that we are seeing Loki evolve as not just a character but also as a god. How do we only have one episode left? I need more of this group, maybe if we get another season we can get more episodes because six is not enough for a season.

The spaghettification during this past episode of Loki Season 2, looks like an Incursion, that we saw during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, just imagine, seen everything and everyone turning into spaghetti during the final moments of Avengers the Kang Dynasty!

I always thought it was called a “TemPad”, in fact I think that’s how the subtitles spelled it in season 1. But I learned recently it is a TempAD - because OB’s 90s laptop time machine has “Temporal Access Device” written on it

I agree completely, he's definitely been pulling the strings even in death. I mean he had plenty of time to plan out what he needed to do to get this to happen, so I can only imagine he had a fail-safe because even though he said he was done with being HWR and wanted to move on, that could've all just been part of his script to get to where they are in season 2. I can't wait for the finale, and I can not wait to hop back in the discord.

I agree on the different Kangs being different universes, makes sense especially when it gets to the idea of everything clashing. And yeah while I think the Exiled One is He Who Remains it wouldn't matter if it was Quantumania Kang because like you said it means they remember and continued to exist. I would agree with the sentiment with all the branches and such went poof which ties into the whole bit with Sylvie later in episode 5. Nice catch on the code difference I thought it was the same code. The question is what is the fail safe exactly? What I think happened is that the TVA agents were sent to their ORIGINAL branched timelines because as variants they weould have originated from branches, maybe as part of fail safe? I was gonna say maybe Brad was from the Sacred Timeline but that wouldn't make sense. Maybe he did cause a branch but he'd still kind of exist in the Sacred Timeline? I thought maybe Mobius' timeline might have been a branch without the blip just because of how cheerful he seemed but you made a point about not being able to sell anything. I agree on the OB stuff, I think the sacred Victor Timely may have had vague ideas but nothing that would have helped as it did with the branched version. Okay now you've just broken my brain with the OB book influencing the original OB. When I think of Kevin as far as Mobius' kids I was thinking of Kevin from Home Alone. Loki getting the band together was such a Nick Fury moment. I'm not sure how Sylvie gets there but the tempad would make sense in her remembering. The record thing sounds fun though. Oh man the spaghettifying felt very Infinity Warp blip moment. The Loki God of Stories is a funny little thing someone on the Discord also brought up, which I didn't know was a thing. I also agree with the Universe wanting to break free. It makes a lot of sense when you consider the universal entities that exist. I like the idea you've suggested regarding Loki's timeslipping, haven't heard that particular suggestion yet. Also ... time twisting? You could say He Who Remains ... paved the way.

Mobius being in 2022 in a branched timeline could be a timeline where the blip didn’t happen, and that’s why Cleveland looks so normal and unblipped.

How I like to see it is that each big bang created a strand of different universes that can branch out. Multiple bundles of separate universes which each universe of a bundle being very similar to each other

The Who what where and how is important. It is the core questions asked journalistically and used in all aspects of fiction. They use it as the final moment and cliff hanger for the next.

The time loom where he slipped too. It was actually weaving the timelines back together. You can see from the left the sacred timeline then the broken branches going into the loom on the right side they are weaving back together.

When Loki slips back to the TVA interrogation room it says 2⁵ for season 2 episode 5. Also OB was from 1994, the only one not ending in 2

The way I would understand timelines and universe is that a timeline can become a new universe once it becomes self fulfilling und turns into a big loop and is no longer dependent on the timeline it originated on. That way, He-Who-Remains could prune the connections between earth-616 and the other universes without destroying them. But I also think that there might be nexus events during the big bang, so you technically still have multiple big bangs, but I don't think that they are the actual origin of new universes.

I'm so so so hyped about this season.

I recently discovered your channel and I'v been loving your videos on the mutliverse stuff. Since the 1st season, I've gone back and forth on what a timeline was, was the mutliverse destroyed and reborn and you're videos really clear up everything they've been showing us. I hope episode 6 sticks the landing.

The TVA tech is definitely not 90s-inspired. The monochrome UIs are DOS-inspired text and graphics that were common in the 1980s. The industrial design such as the computer terminals and rotary phones are straight from the 60s-70s. I'm sure some of these were still in use in 1994 like in corporate offices or banks but they were absolutely on the way out.

Thanks for this breakdown, I can only imagine how much time and thought went into making this for us fans!!! 🎉🎉 I think that you're on the rigth track on your ideas about HWR having sort of a fail safe plan in effect in case things didn't go his way. He spent all of that time creating and tending to the TVA that I personally don't believe think that he would take anything to chance. I also agree with your ideas on the HWR tempad being set up specifically for Loki in case things did not go as he hoped. Once again as a huge Loki fan, I sincerely appreciate the work you put into your videos.

I got a theory, I don't know if you have touched on that previously, but I'm seeing the freewill and the TVA and branches concept a bit buggy. Kang in ant saw the timeline bleeding because his variants played with it. What if the universe was only a simple multiverse but the presence of Kang and variants those time travel are the cause of the branches which created a universe to be wiped out. A bit like Doctor strange often create his own problem and dedicated himself to fix it, Kang is the one messing up with time creating branches time which were not supposed to exist and therefore have to create a timeloom and the TVA to fix and manage his own mistake and problems. Cause everytime the TVA/Kang travel in time it creates a nexus event and a branch timeline. This will make Kang/who he remains the biggest problem of the timeline instead of its savior. This will also limit loki power of time slipping to only one universe and can't access the multiverse like America shavez, which has to created portals for that. Loki time slipping will end if Kang is not a threat to the timeline and the branches isn't an issue anymore

My theory is....when present Loki pruned past Loki in episode 4, present Loki inherits the "time slipping" curse/gift from the past Loki, quantum entanglement!....also, It was established in "Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" that dreams can be visions of other multiverse version of ourselves(variants)....So Immortus must of saw it in a dream or vision on how the "exiled One" supposedly died....that's how they were informed.

I like your theory and if could definitely be the way Marvel chooses to proceed with the multiverse but I’ve had a theory since the end of season 1 on how the multiverse works and in my opinion it’s the way it should work. So for starters I agree with you that there are multiple big bangs however due to pruning by the TVA they all follow the same story and continuity set out by He Who Remains. This is called the “sacred timeline” and even though each universe may have different features, (eg all characters are animals etc) they all follow the same storyline. If you picture it like a rope which has thousands of threads all bundled together going the same direction. Each thread is a different universe with its own big bang. When He Who Remains died however and the TVA stopped pruning the multiverse began to expand because each nexus point was not contained. I think these are the points in which “branches” occur and I think they lead to the universes being drastically different (eg Tibet Maguire’s Spider-Man having no avengers). I also think each new branch then somehow leads to a new Kang being formed. Let’s say for example in 31st century the universe branches and we get Kang the Conquerer or like we saw in old times Chicago where the universe branched much earlier and we got Victor Timely a lot earlier. I, like you, believe everything that’s happening here in Loki seasons 1 and 2 happen before the MCU phase 4 but the confusing part is that, because they happen in a space outside of time, the MCU won’t feel any change and there will just now be a multiverse. I think that these new Kangs don’t remember He Who Remains but are talking about Kang from Ant-Man in that post credit scene. I think they have met each other and had this conflict with Kang ever since the end of Loki season 2 where I believe the loom will be destroyed and the multiverse will become truly free. If feels like this stuff can’t have happened in the 2 years or so since Phase 4 has started canonically however because the Kangs are operating from different timelines it doesn’t have to. Each universe is also at a different point in the timeline when it’s branched or encounters the multiverse so just because 616 is encountering it post 2023 Endgame, that doesn’t mean all the other universes have to. I will say though that the biggest problem with my theory is the Kate Herron quite you provided. I do think it could be metaphorical or maybe she has just tried to explain it in a way that’s more consumable but either way it’s an issue for my theory. We won’t know for a while and Marvel don’t do a good job of distinguishing universes and timeline as well as dimension because it seems like they just use whatever word sounds cool to them at the time. I would love to hear your thoughts on my theory and I hope one day one of us will be proven right.

My wishful theory is that Loki ends up creating the TVA and takes his friend variants to employ them like we almost saw in the episode 5. TVA is ouroboros itself just like the Loki and the book scene. At one point after, Timely takes over the TVA, erase everyone memories and becomes HWR.

I figured out why Brad didn't make a branch. What was the deal Miss Minutes made to the Loki's? "I can put you back, I can make it so that you can win." My theory is, Brad found Sylvie, She made him the same deal... he wanted to be a Movie star Thus she made it so. and when she did that he made it part of the sacred timeline. He accepted the deal from someone. Miss Minutes, Revona, or the Missing Kang thats out there someplace.

You know, I didn't quite catch this back when I first watched the episode, or maybe I did and then forgot, but you pointing out that the characters return to branched timelines makes sense because they themselves were originally from branched timelines. So they not only went back to when they were pruned, their branches regrew so that they had somewhere to return to. Now I have to know what egregious thing each of them did to create a branch. Was Frank (Casey) escaping from Alcatraz too soon? Did he shift some dirt too much? Like, what could you possibly do in Prison to create a branch, even in the middle of a prison escape that was seemingly destined to happen? Did Dr. Williams give someone a booster shot that prevented them from becoming sick? Was that one guy in the Jetski store supposed to buy a Jetski, but Mobius didn't do a good enough job selling it? Did he eat a donut and it not taste good? What does this mean?! We'll probably never know, but come on, they returned to their own times on branched timelines, and I have to imagine that they were all close to their points in time when they branched and not some time later down the line in the branched timeline. But yeah, that's just an observation I don't think I made the first time around. Pretty wild to think about.

Casey's theft gave me a jolt because i immediately thought about the stack of infinity stones and thought what if he was another chess piece here? Cuz he also memorized the TVA guidebook so he may have some power-hungry motives. But with only 1 episode left, i really don't see them making the story more convoluted.

Just hours prior to watching this episode, I learned about Loki the god of stories. So when he said I can control the story I was certain, hyped and disappointed that he had just become that. And right before that when the camera pans to him I swore he was looking into the camera and I thought we were gonna get some she hulk level fourth wall stuff. Which is why I was disappointed. Just didn’t feel like the show for all that. I was hyped cuz god of stories loki is extremely over powered and it’s insane. However watching it a few more times I realized I don’t think that’s what happened at all. I just had that new knowledge of god of stories Loki fresh on my brain. But man it threw me through a loop lol.

He’s immune to time since he was “violently ripped from all space and time.” Remember spaghettification happens as you near a black hole. Everyone is getting pulled into a singularity at the heart of their respective universe except Loki because his temporal aura is no longer fixed in any one universe. Since he’s no longer affected by time the temporal radiation will have no affect on him and he will just be able to walk out there. I’m sure he will figure this out after constantly seeing Victor fail and continuously hearing Victor keep telling him, “Time to be Brave.” The real question is the temporal aura really causing the destruction. Anytime Sylvie shows up somewhere things gets spaghettified. First Victor, then food on the hood of her car, Loki’s shot glass, the music store, and finally OB’s office and everyone in it once she arrives. I wonder if she has somehow become a singularity unto herself and is destroying everything near her which was metaphorically shown with the black record spinning absorbing everything before she left

How Don (Mobius) didn't recognize Loki? I mean, Don's Timeline branch from 2022, which means Avengers (2012) already happened. Loki should've been in every news channel lmao Excellent video. I was waiting it so impatiently since the episode came out

WAIT WAIT WAIT.. I just noticed something. I don't think we're looking at this in the correct order. When Loki is wandering the halls alone then timeslips, I don't think he returns to the same point. White light(I think either time is flowing BACKWARDS because there is a clock ticking on the title screen that is ticking in reverse or he timesliped as the white light clears. ) ---> loom is okay (it is spinning on the left and automatically trimming branches, if you didn't notice that.) --- Then Timeslips No. I think it goes like this Loki timeslips to this point before the explosion -- > the explosion/spagetti-ing --- the white light ----- then timeslips this time someplace else.

The battle of new york occurred in the sacred timeline in 2012.. hunter b 15 and mobius are in a branched timeline... which could be that the battle of new york or the Snap never happened in their timeline

Doesthe book say how or what happend to the ghost character from antman and the wasp when during the events of the infinity war at and after the snap when scott was down in the quantum relm retreiving the healing particles for there new ghost friend as they said in the movie or will an upcoming movie answer this

33:54 so a tva agent goes to the SACRED timeline has a life makes it as a superstar. He doesn’t cause a nexus event all the while making an impact so big that his movie ends up a video game decades later which we weren’t just shown but we also ended the episode with a vocal cameo right before the finale. That cannot be a coincidence right? There must be a reason for this.

I think the reason why they are all on branched timelines is because these are the variants that are taken away by the tva. For exaple Casey in the sacred timeline drowns in at alkatraz but we are watchibg the casey that would ultimately be taken by the TVA, our casey, but with no TVA theur nexus events still happen

I think the thing is that all of them are Originally from the branched timeline everyone is thinking is new. This is the Ouroboros. This is the way it’s always happened. Your book timeline graph is great. I think it just loops. The original is the branch. That’s what they’ve been implying since the beginning right. Loki always recruited these people. Why the line about Mobius wanting “to thank the man who recruited him.” ..means something.

From everything they told us about variants and branch timelines throughout the first season, I don't think what we see in this episode is what everyone else said it is. These variants are NOT the versions of the characters we have come to know over the show, and even more, these branches CAN'T be their original branches, as they were pruned. And we know that when something is pruned, it's released from time. It's essentially timeless. It's truly outside of time. And we have no reason to believe those same branches can have formed again. We don't have reason to believe they CAN'T, but don't have reason to believe they do. Also, all Variants share the same temporal aura as we have learned, so it's not even about specific versions of these people, it's about their specific auras, which Loki is somehow able to connect to. Further, of course, the conversation with He Who Remains in the finale kinda disproves all of that. But if we think about it, by Loki time slipping into his personal chronological past, nothing that he did here actually happened. We see later in the finale that he once again Time Slips to a moment in this episode, but again, I think it's all about his personal chronological timeline. He experienced it, so it happened for him. But if he changes something in his chronological past, it means that even though he lived through it, those events technically didn't happen. So, by the end of the finale, none of what we see in this episode, except for what Loki experienced, happened. So NONE of these Variants are the ones in the TVA. And even if they were, what Loki did doesn't affect them at all. They never meet Loki until long after they've been part of the TVA. And they have their minds wiped several times, as well. And then also, these branches spaghetti away, which is a result of of the failsafe built into the loom. Regardless, we can probably assume that these are not the lives that the TVA agents had on the Sacred Timeline. Edit: Your reaction to the branches seems to be exactly what everyone else's was. Making implications for the Sacred Timeline based off of the branches. But that's not how it works. The Branches are the result of the implications of changes to the Sacred Timeline, but we can't imply things about the Sacred Timeline that we see in branches. So just we see "Mobius" selling Jetskis in 2022, doesn't mean it happened during the Blip, as the Blip doesn't have to happen in ANY timeline except the Sacred Timeline. Edit 2: I'm actually little surprised at how, even despite completely misunderstanding much of this episode (in my opinion), you were avle to correctly guess (or mostly correctly) that all of season 2 was a backup plan by He Who Remains. He wrote a script up to a certain point, but it doesn't mean he didn't also then set up a series of dominos to then fall in a very specific order to achieve his own goals. Also, the fact hr scripted everything before makes me believe that he created Sylvie, not the universe. The universe is not conscious. At least not to my understanding. It just is. But He Who Remains IS conscious. Remember, in the season 1 finale, he partially scripted out his conversation with himself, Loki, and Sylvie. And it always blows my mind that people completely ignore that moment or fail to comprehend the trule impact of what it means.

I don’t think the others got reset . I think Loki just traveled to a branch timeline at a past point in their timeline . Sylvie was maybe located in the past but before she leaves to meet Loki and Mobius in episode 4

... and no one even bothered reading the book OB wrote. He explicitly says Loki is one of his characters, but no one will take him seriously enough. So my prediction is that Loki will finally stop dismissing his friends. And that's the only way he'll be able to fix things and get a "family". For a short time, until the multiversal war gets too crazy when supes get in on it, and kang dethrones Loki and wipes his friends. It's so good.
