Morg that wire appears to go to the gear sensor... basically if you have a gauge with gear indicators or a neutral light, that is what tells it what gear you're in. the wire for your stator should come out next to that wire as well but you only need the wire to the stator for the engine to run, this guy took off the stator cover which had the wire in it though.

I had to use my air impact gun with my air compressor the nut is a standard thread. Meaning clockwise is tightened counter-clockwise is loosened
