There is a documentary called London's Burning - Duty Log available on here i think...Glen Murphy who played George did try to get the part for the movie but he didn't get the part.. then he was working on another film at the same time the film was made they shared movie locations as the two films they shared the same dining bus/local pubs etc. Then after that he was offered for the part of George in the series.
