A tremendous walk around London's rather splendid ancient city wall built by the Romans alongside the modern Barbecan centre.
We pass the panyer boy who marks the highest point in the city of London (or does he?).
Christchurch Greyfriars which was never rebuilt after the war. Watts memorial to self sacrifice, livery companies, a buried head of a king and Shakespere's house.
As usual there is a lot more with many interesting facts about London as we take a delightful walking tour around this area packed with London history.
EQUIPMENT I USE:
Canon XA 40 ProCamcorder - amzn.to/3ujm3oz
Canon 800D DSLR - amzn.to/3ukKBO0
Tudor Map of London - amzn.to/3k5pvPc

I've been hoping you would tour the Barbican as it has always been a very attractive place to me. Just add me diamond, I recognise many of your sights when I moved from up North ie Hartlepool to London for work I lived in the streets of London for 3 months including thru the kings x fire 🔥 and the Great storm, I passed thru Kings x 5 mins before the fire in 87, and passed back thru the area on the underground when I returned ( I rode the underground rails ) you could then for hours for 50p, and watch the mail train , I remember the great storm within a month in 87, the police ushered everyone of the Waterloo concorse as the glass in the roof was collapsing onto the concourse, the police said stay near the station, I however , went for a walk around London as I thought it was a unique opportunity to see The greatest capital in the world, 300 hundred year old trees fallen across the Mall, Now back up North but probably end back up on streets ( maybe in London). Your films are superb and unique 😊 Cheers Joolz 🥂 Alan

18:45 interesting it's named after a fort, the Barbican does remind me of a big sea fort outer walls always stained with dripping water. Walking around there even during a lunch time down the narrow corridors, there's just no one about even though as you state in the video, practically all homes are occupied. The outer courtyard is always empty. You can regard it as a semi failed project that just keeps chugging away through the ages.

Thomas btw was Christian's brother so he would be a ?x-gr uncle. But his father & uncle were Lord Mayor (obviously at different times - I believe John was even High Sherrif at one point) during the time of Henry the VIII & it is said that they had a huge home down on the Old Roman Road - even though I really enjoyed your vid you did on the Gresham, the Grasshoppers & The Exchange, I found it sad to see that huge modern bank built over the top of where it once stood.

Before the city grew up, though, you must have been able to hear the Bow bells for MILES! Anyway, I might have missed it but what the plan for the current Museum of London building? I look forward to seeing it after it has moved...which is probably going to coincide with the next time I'm allowed to travel there!

Forgive the correction but those are pine cones, the motif was later changed to pineapples as a status symbol, see the building the Dunmore Pineapple. Otherwise as an expat living in Croatia I enjoy your films about the city where I lived for 14 years and a city wall walk I’ve done many times.

Awesome video as always Joolz. How on earth did you accumulate such a tremendous amount of knowledge about London? It’s a city that’s always fascinated me but have no idea how to tackle it’s vast history and peculiarities
