Just after passing its first MOT in around 20 years, Bristol LH BL88 new to London Transport in 1977 makes its way back through Birkenhead on the way home.

Did these buses have a Perkins 6.354 engine? , the ones I remember always had a manual notchey synchromesh gearbox.

Some did but most had the Leyland 0.401 engine.

@@jaggass Thank you for your reply Micheal, I didn’t know they had the Leyland engine option Eastern Counties used the Perkins version and the Gardner powered version REs in East Dereham, better days and better buses.
