Such a shame Phil is no longer with us. His voice was clear, warm and friendly. Celia sounds friendly but more like a robot, especially when saying 'Platform 9' and 'This train is formed of x coaches'. Also Celia's voice echoes more, particularly at London Waterloo, and even Sunderland, and in stations where it's like a tunnel.
It's a shame that Phil Sayer's announcements are fading out and SWT are using Celia's more now. But Phil is sadly dead now and the stations need updates and they can't use him if he's not around but Celia is alive still so they will need to use her instead or maybe get a new anouncer. Southern are beginning to use a new lady whose name I don't know but she's heard at Victoria, East Croydon and Gatwick stations?
Nobody knows who that lady is, however she isnt just used at those stations. She can be heard around the Virgin Trains network now too, as far north as Carlisle.
As I said before, Network Rail was responsible for paying for the automated systems, as First is taking over South West Trains, those decision makers on the PIDS in South West Trains who transferred to First may have their views respected. So it's an unknown.
You need to go back there and do another video, because it isn’t south-west trains that are running a service any more. It is south-western railway now.
