"Pipe is expensive but I need Magic Resistance and also MKB is expensive but I need to pierce evasion." This is a time where you might choose to start two items, get the Cloak for your Pipe and the Javelin for your MKB to gain the needed MR/PierceEvade effects, then afterward finish whichever item is most useful and affordable.
I know this has been streamed a long time ago but the trick is thinking of Alfredo as the main hero and the Lone Druid Himself as the lifeline. You prioritize giving the bear the items he needs to either push or hunt enemies. You should worry about CS more in the early landing stages instead of unsuccessfully harassing the enemy with the bear. Radiance is almost always a good pick since it adds farming potential as well as additional constant damage to any fights. As always, keep up the good vids. Watching you fumble around and play positively gives Dota 2 a breath of fresh air.
Lone Druid is an unpopular pick, because late game the bear is super vulnerable. You may have seen that as well in this game against Phantom Assassin who deals tons of burst damage. You can only resummon your bear once, then it goes on cooldown for a whopping 2 minutes. At that point your hero may as well be dead, because you usually don't buy a lot of items on your main hero. This means that some desperate Lone Druid players may be looking to buy Refresher Orb in the ultra late game, just to keep their bear up.
@@kandiaru3035 yep if youre fighting the bear. Then ld has already won. You need to kill ld himself. PA is good because she can pick off LD directly. If she's hitting the bear and not LD then LD wins no contest.
I can see how Grubby gives back to the Dota Community by providing Micro intensive hero tutorials in the near future, also Gabe would love to see you at TI next year I'm sure :)
DOTA itself hasn't seen any innovation in the last 20 years. they have outdated action combat and social system. they have the same outdated MOBA mentality like the rest of MOBA studios only caring about dOTA/Conquest players and ignoring everybody else love. and the Snowball is even bigger issues then in most other MOBA because max lvl is 30 and u can't even surrender. hould watch the Kings Avatar animation and get some inspiration and start considering other innovations like ability to tame open world monsters as your mount
@@fooooooooooofive there is a reason league of legends max lvl is 20. Snowballing. So people who are behind can catch up. You literally designed your game around snowballing and u make your players prisoners for 20 minutes when they get behind. Dota conwuest snowballing was also a big design issue. Sure noobs like it when getting carries by numbers but for the rest competitive players is justa. Nusidanxe. Hard to come back. But afcors moba studios and players acting like dota conquest ha ano issues and then they literally balance around snowbballing and youtubers clikbaitg. People asking for balance chances when they are 5 lvls ahead or behind. In a game where 2 lvl difference is alredy so big
@@GamingDualities my game? Why do you even start comparing these two games? Didn't DotA set the standard and LoL made it more accessible to a broader audience? Sure, Level changes to 30 and Hero Talents were a big change, but in my opinion DotA+2 developers are pioneers when it comes to Patches, balancing and changing up old methods. I'm not sure if you play Dota yourself to be honest but you might take certain situations too serious. It's a team sport after all and creativity gets rewarded. Not sure about League
About Sylla : Long before the first words of the first histories there rose the druidic Bear Clan. Wise and just they were, and focused in their ways to seek an understanding of the natural order. The arch forces of nature saw this, and so sought the most learned among them. Wise old Sylla, clan justiciar and seer, stepped forward for his kin, and to him was given the Seed with these words: 'When all of the world has dimmed, when civilization has left these lands, when the world is slain and wracked by the endless deserts at the end of ages, plant the Seed.' As he grasped his trust, Sylla felt his years recede and his vitality returned. Vast knowledge burst into his mind. He found himself able to project his very will into reality and, with some concentration, alter his own physical form as well. Yet subtle whispers and cruel ears brought word of the Seed and its power to other peoples, and a terrible war crashed upon the Bear Clan. As his ancestral home burned, Sylla took his burden and fled to the wild places. Ages passed, and time and myth forgot the Bear Clan, forgot Sylla and the Seed, forgot wondrous civilizations that rose and fell in Bear Clan's wake. For millenia Sylla has waited, waited for word from his deities, waited for peace to come to the ever warring realms, waited in exile and in secret for the end of all things and for the conclusion of his sacred commitment, preparing himself always to face and destroy whatever would dare threaten his purpose.
A little tip: you can keep a TP scroll on the bear. So that you can heal the bear in the fountain instead wasting the cool-down of your summon bear spell, can teleport your bear back to your hero after healing. Can grab an item from fountain when doing that too! Super efficient 😅
I don't know what everyone has about LD being hard to play. I mean you can make it hard if you try to do some fancy split micro actions. But if you just keep them together it's literally all about activating your 2 items, using one single spell and rightclicking while you snowball. Most heroes are harder than that.
mate that kind of advice really does not work for some higher ranks. Since you dont build most of ur items on Druid and do so in the Bear you need to have proper positioning and thats the hard part about playing lone druid. So "keeping them together" does not work vs proper enemies that straightforward

I have the exact same story as the one talking about watching your games since the wc3 replay days. Moon was my favourite back then. And ive been a fan of you since I saw you two battle it out. Ive had a way too busy life to watch your stream, but you are always a joy to watch on youtube. Keep being you!
Hi Grubby, Ive got a few tricks of Lone Druid for you to try out if you don't mind: - Double Root and Double Fear trick: when you land the root on the enemy, you can level up your bear, all the skills will be refreshed, therefore, you can land double Root on the enemy. - Leveling up bear also serves as save (not sure what word to use here). But lets say if your bear is stunned, you can level up your bear and it will free itself out from all the debuff (yes it works even with against Necro's Reaper) So it is always good to save 1 skill point on your bear to be either on offense or defense in early game only. The hero is very fun to play and has very high skill ceiling with its micro. Im sure you will enjoy it a lot. That is my favorite hero to play too.
47:00 clutch transformation, very pog I gotta say, I expected you taking a different aproach to the hero, farming jungle 24/7 and juggling your too many small items inventory between the 12 slots! Coaching is working as u said
Grubby has always the most boomer reflexes xD, walks around the fight for ages and goes "i cant kill them all " while he never even stoped to attack xD i love it.
I play lone druid fairly often, he is basically one of the 3 strongest ultra hard late carrieies, with 12 items. (that you only reach at around minute 70-80 ) but he is a good pusher, and fairly fast hero. his main problems are mostly heros that can do damage and stuns against multiple opponents.
Top tips After starter buy first item to buy is claws of attack for bear for phase boots, Always have tp on bear for regeneration, buy it at the start as well instead of branch. Ld power spike is in mid game, later its very ez to kill a bear, so try to finish game asap. If you losing try to get aghanim and desolator and rat the towers. You can solo roshan with phase boots, mom and basher on bear. Let roshan aggro on druid and use true form if needed to tank.
I've waited for this Edit: I've been spamming him to reach crusader 1 from herald 3 here's a tip: just rush radiance then scepter and you can literally rat the bear on a lane away from the fight and the bear has no icon on the map aside from a small dot so it's literally hard to be seen while you distract your enemies during a fight
sorry to break your bubble. your strat will get you so far and will not get you too far high up. usually low level strat works only on low level games while high level strat almost all the time will work on low level games. So instead of focusing your flawed strat of split pushing to death with radiance-aghs-lone druid on fountain strat, using proper game play strat like how lone druid played on high level would get you much higher. nice of you to share your experience tho.
@55:50 Yeah I always suspected a delay on switching units in HotS, I play a decent amount of Samuro and Rexxar it was especially noticeable when they shortened the default clone time xD. I've been messing around in demo mode on dota2 trying to adjust controls and etc, I'll prolly end up playing a bit. Just trying to convince some friends to try it out
I'm still watching the Lina game but oh boy grubby does have a problem with the minimap, some streamers put a whole monitor for it, I think it would be really nice for you
You don't need to drop the items on the floor you can give to the bear directly. Same thing when upgrading an item. You don't need the lone druid to craft the upgraded item
admiral bulldog used to go double midas and was a popular pub build back in the day i have stepped away from the game for a number of years though so I am not sure if it is still a viable greedy build. It was pretty risky though though regardless.
39:24 zeus was able to cast 14 times in that fight alone....no pressure on him then again only 1 team member came to help, so its not your fault, the other arrived to late.
wait HOTS doesn't have the same multi unit control like WC3 (or pretty much most RTS games) has? how do you control multi unit heroes then? That's pretty disappointing considering Blizzard pretty much popularized RTS games.
Misha has a dedicates button to send rexxar to. its D. other summon heroes just use the buttoj that summine them to command then. and TLV gives you likw 4 control groups and select click
It's weird for people to say LD is "never picked." He has always been a huge competitive pick, usually had a high winrate. Even now his pickrate in pubs isn't THAT bad(not even bottom 20), and his winrate is quite high. And as far as micro heroes he's one of the easiest since you usually keep your guys close together, and they don't have many skills but a lot of survivability and mostly right-click. I'd argue most of the non-micro heroes are harder than LD. It's just the IDEA of micro that turns people off.
Grubby chat never disappoints. " Use savage roar to split enemies " they run in the same fucking direction lmaooo Chat rly needs to simmer down and stop coaching
The reason everyone hates antimage is because he has a tipping point where he will start blinking all over the map clearing every creep camp every minute, and when that happens you have to hunt him down or end the game really fast lol.
also, another pro tip. I dont know why people pick the 0,01 attack speed modifier talent. Its by far the worst level 25 talent taht I can think of. maybe it would be an ok level 10 talent, but the equivalent speed that it gives you is the equivalent of a 500gold item.
Hey Grubby, would request a party with both SirActionSlacks and Jenkins on thier signature heroes Techies and Pudge respectively, while you play your favorite hero so far. As always, loved the video , infact changed my name to Avg Grubby Enjoyer on Dota. Would love to play with you sometime together. ❤
I think Grubby is already on a pretty decent level with his heroes, but his awareness of team/enemy positions and mainly minimap awareness is hilariously awful. I realized this in some WC3 games too, but given that you have more things to keep track of and that a single unit you overlook on the minimap matters less than a single hero it kind of makes sense, but it is still weird to me that this seems to be the major weakness.
I assume he doesn't look in the mirrors while he is driving :D You look to minimap %50 percent of the time when you get used to the hero. I think he needs time.
Grubby for Lone druid u should have some kind of setup for ur keys. For example I use 1 to select the Druid, 3 to select the Bear and 2 to select both of them. It makes it a lot easier and it gives u a ton more control over both of them without having to manual target each one of them. when u get to higher level matches it is quite important to have safe positionin on the Druid and having separate keys to select them helps a lot
There is a funny troll build with this hero called "Loneliest Druid" where you don't level up the bear at all and only play the Druid. It's stupid and useless but the name is funny.
