John Speraw doesn't make a lot of mistakes but ... losing track of substitutions so that UCLA had to play the final 4 points of a set it had been winning, without a setter(!) was a pretty big blunder. Someone on the coaching staff should've been keeping track!
Or the ref should tell u because that’s what there job is ref told him the wrong number of subs left and therefore he thought he had one left. U can see when they subbed Rowan out the ref said 5 subs used and u get 6.
@@claywieter3851 8:46 the ref is signalling 6 subs. right hand shows 5 fingers, left hands shows 1. you can see his left index finger curling back for two frames after he showed the signal

Think LB needs to send more balls #12's way, he plays smart and has a fucking cannon. On UCLA #16 needs to be alleviated, need a player like #21 on earlier to rattle the cage from the other side IMO!
most reliable players on both teams seem to be the opposites, clarke and ido both almost always get kills when set. And Rama def shouldve been playing earlier, UCLA got into the heads so much in the second set.
The libero at Long Beach is not performing well; almost every reception falls outside the three-meter line (even the float serve), making their team cannot effectively use the middle blocker to attack. But, the UCLA setter has been underwhelming, many of his sets too close to the net, making it so easy for Long Beach to block.
ucla simply js gets to comfortable 😂 and then get shut down and get to flashy and seem to give no effort . Thats y they lost and also no lib😭 merrick getting more digs than both they libs from wat it seems like
at this level with the way some hitters are ripping the ball a scoop is the best defensive play you can make, ensures that the ball stays on your side of the net, and gets it high.
@benfranklin2136 AT NO LEVEL IS THE SCOOP THE WAY TO GO OR ELSE THE ONE THAT IS PUSHING THE SCOOP .. SHOULD BE SEEN AS THE GOAT .. AND THEY ARE NOT. THIS IS HI LEVEL IGNORANCE AND LAZINESS. AND TO BE EVEN MORE FRANK, IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO THE VOLLEY ANCESTORS AND GODS. DIG A BALL LIKE A MAN. DONT SCOOP LIKE A KID. THIS ISNT ICE CREAM!
@RandomGameTesters 😅 no but I am saying get under the ball and use your platform. it's become more Upper Body focused and lower body deficient. I'm simply not a fan.
That was an absolutely terrible coaching job by Speraw in set 2... unrelated, but I don't think he should be the US mens coach, especially after how terrible the last Olympics went
it was a covid year, Aaron russel was hurt, tj defalco became good because of that olympic tournament, and taylor sander was playing after not because of injury, i wouldn’t blame all of it on speraw
To be fair, the US mens had a great turnout in 2022 and 2023 after the last Olympics. Still needs to improve though as they do great from start but always comes out short on the finals.
Hawaii was actually doing great up until a couple days ago when Chakas got injured. They haven't announced the injury but it looked like an ACL/MCL something. I wouldn't be surprised to see UCI go pretty far, especially once D'Arcy and Flexen are healthy.
