In this video, Rex quickly reviews how long range shooters have classically applied basic external ballistics. Rex shows the most commonly used methods of constructing simple ballistic charts for long range shooting. Although their ease of use is desirable, are severe limitations to using these simplifies ballistics tables. In the field, we will find that there is no such thing as "standard conditions".

The best LR shooting book with everthing you will need to know is The Complete .50 Caliber Sniper Course - Hard Target Interdiction by Dean Michaelis (another ND guy, like me). This is intended for HTI apps, but can be applied to smaller calibers as well. This is a wealth of information and will keep you besu for years to come. If you can't get into the SOTIC, then this book is the next best thing. Peace.

This the exact video I needed to watch today. I like to shoot long range (500 yards) with older military rifles which have iron sights of course and sometimes I don't have a spotter. Needless to say, my trip to the range today was a complete failure. Lesson learned. Zero in 100 yard increments.

Thanks bud. Although they are much better off than most of Europe, at the moment Switzerland actually has more restrictive gun laws than we do. They've started cracking down again over there as well. The civilian population of the entire world is being disarmed.

Never seen that one. But I will give a very similar rundown on a different system. They are usually pretty close, but they don't account for some of the most crucial variations in internal ballistics which REALY throw you off. More on that VERY soon, when we go through internal ballistics in detail.

I only asked because I use it for smaller calibers and factery rounds. I am thinking of reloading soon so am paying close attention to your series! So much info to soak in lol. I will probably watch it several times and wish I could download it all. Thanks for giving us"normal" shooters the info to hunt at extended ranges, and thank you for standing and proclaiming you are Christian no matter what!

Basically, here's how to get it set up... zero the rifle at 100m. loosen the 3 screws on the turret caps all the way and slip them to the zero mark. re-tighten the screws and note where you are on the other hash marks. The SS10X is not equipped with a zero-stop feature, so we have to mark it. Either write down where you are - or physically mark the spot with a small dot from a silver sharpie. When you return the rifle to zero, you will crank it down to this spot you've marked.

No problem. Allot more fun can be had appreciating where one bullet goes than by ripping off 30 in a couple seconds - although I like that too - I admit it. These days, considering the price and availability of ammo, aiming adds up to a much more efficient use of resources.

Kentucky windage is part of the craft, less so with long range shooting!

Yes, partially - they will very rarely have the exact opposite deflection. If you are in the Southern hemisphere with a right hand twist, the Coriolis will throw ya left and the spin will be to the right. If you are in the Northern hemisphere with left handed twist, then the Coriolis will be to the right and the spin will be to the left.

Yeah, this part - when I watched it to proof it was the most boring one so far - very basic stuff, but fundamental for the beginners to understand. I'll be picking up on the speed of these videos after the basics are covered.

Thank you for putting so much effort into these videos. I'm learning a lot. But I still don't see any information on how much to adjust the dials to move a bullet to impact to a certain point.

In my part of the world 400-500yd is all I have to shoot so I picked the 22lr and pushing 300+Yds MOA to subMOA with limited data on burn rate and other load data what is other options for building a fire soulition for 1st round hits with different environmental factors other than the dope I keep tks

I got my SWFA SS fixed 10 in this week and mounted it today, but it seems like the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know. I understand zeroing the rifle and then adjusting the turrets. However, I'm curious about the hash marks because, in a perfect world, my rifle would be zeroed and my zeros would be lined up with the middle hash mark (5) on windage and elevation and I will have an easy mark to remember when dialing back to zero. Am I forgetting to do something?

how you calcul the trajectory with ballistics, temperature corrections, humidity correction, barometric pressure, altitude corrections and wind speed correction & wind direction muzzle velocity, latitude and altitude. Or send me the link for this calcul plz :)

Being able to hit long range shot with iron sights seems more like a zen kinda thing. But then again, they did it all the time in WWI.

Have you seen the Strelok app for android? If so what do you think of it? It seems pretty spot on IF you have the BC, bullet weight, and meteorological info... Any way you could try it out and give us a rundown?

Would it be reasonable to assume that the effects of 'Coriolis' could be nullified by spin drift? I realize that this is one of those far-reaching possibilities, but if I'm reading this correctly that would be a possibility. Sincerely, Grasshopper.
