Last week brought me to the final week of my 10k training, and since it was such a beautiful day out, I decided to head out on the trails with Tia, my romanian rescue pup, to get in a canicross session!
It was a very wholesome day out with her buddies Ruby, Willow and Monty, and we got in a good 15km+! Now I'm in taper week so taking it super easy. Race day on Saturday!

What a beautiful run, the dogs are the cherry on top! I laughed when you clucked, I'm always combining my dog and horse cues! 😆 I also think it's funny how ultra runners see distance as an approximate... 50k = 28-44 ish miles. Whereas distances under ultra distance are to the foot (meter), or people get upset. I hope Tia develops her trail chops for you so you don't have to worry about the wildlife! My first German Shepherd didn't chase at all, my second thankfully only goes about 50 feet before returning, but it took a couple years before he developed that. Good luck on your time trial!

Very jealous of that weather you had last Sunday - here in Hull we had thick fog that didn't lift until Tuesday morning when it was replaced with heavy rain! 6 of my last 7 runs have been in fog or rain, but I guess we are getting into winter 😂

I've been so ill this week and haven't been out since Sunday. Feeling very sorry for myself but trying to get better and take it easy. Tia is lush. I love running with my dog too. Good luck with your race! ❤️

I just use the generic GoPro mount without attaching it to anything - keeps it small enough to put in a pack if need be :)

Fun! I would love to combine passion for running and passion for dogs. My cattle dog iris is a great runner and stays by my side and intuitively knows to avoid my feet. My Doberman mix Doogie on the other hand … a 75 pound wrecking ball. I have the scars to prove it. He’s just too strong. I hear you … Doogie sees other dogs or cows or ducks and he’s off! With me dragging along behind. So sadly, no, no dogs allowed on my runs! It’s way too dangerous when you’re on steep mountain trails. Which is sad! Look how much your dogs love being out there!!

Ah cattle dogs are amazing aren't they! And yes dobermans are insane haha, but I love them so much! But yeah I can imagine quite bonkers out on the trails. We are also much more cautious with Tia on narrow hilly trails. She is surprisingly strong for her size!

Hey Flora! lovely to see how happy you are running with Tia! Quick question about running through those puddles, do you wear specific winter/wet running socks so that your feet don't get sodden? My pet hate is running with soaking wet feet but I want to be able to enjoy the winter trails. Any guidance appreciated 😀 x

Hey! I dont mind wet feet - it's something you get quite used to with trail running 🙈 but apparently waterproof socks are decent! Better than waterproof shoes which trap water inside them 😅

@@FloraBeverley thanks! I do have a pair of waterproof socks but haven't worn them as yet so i'll give them a go and maybe just embrace the wet otherwise! I think i have reservations as i've had rubbing on my feet from being damp. Maybe I just need to get more used to it :D x

Can't run with puppies their bones are brittle you'll have to wait atleast a year 😅

While what @@Monk-E said is 100% true you can start working on the basics. Teaching left, right, impulse control drills, engagement, etc which will all come in handy and keep both human and dog safe while on the trails. It can be very stressful at first so good luck with it all but most importantly, don't forget to have fun! 😊

Would love you to make a video about land access and what your country has done to open up fields and trails like this! As an American I never see stuff like this unless they're public parks.

The paths have always been there - going back hundreds of years. They are a network of rights of way across private land, established to allow people to move around on foot when going to work in the fields or visiting people etc. Some groups work hard to keep these rights of way by making sure all the paths are regularl walked. America is a new country and does not have the same ancient network of paths. The land was parcelled out to private owners with no rights of way across that land.

Oooh yes I actually spoke about this in a vlog this summer. It's called 'right to roam' and is a godsend! It's one of the reasons fell and trail running in the UK are so good. Right to roam started from a mass trespassing of kinder scout in the Peak District in 1932 and from that we were granted right to roam on certain paths across private land etc. There are many pieces of etiquette to follow to keep land owners happy, but in general its amazing 🙌

I was wondering if you might do the Castle Combe Chilly 10k (Sunday 20th) but the pacer team was full there... after watching this video I've been called up short notice and will be pacing 42mins which would have been great to try and push you towards. I've seen your strava result this morning from Battersea park so I'll wait for your next video to avoid spoilers, but if any viewers are at castle combe do come and say hi to the pacer team. ❤️

I enjoy well behaved dogs. In my last video I posted last night on my 7.5 mile run I had a not so friendly dog not so friendly greeting me out on the road in front of the owners house. 1 thing I don't enjoy about the country here in the U.S everyone just let's their dogs roam and no one thinks their dogs are over protectively aggressive.

She's dutch shepherd x dalmatian (and a few other things) and the most I've ever done is 11 miles, and she was great!
