Mersing Construction & Engineering Sdn Bhd has been the pioneer for the trenchless engineering industry in Malaysia for the past 36 years. On the 5th of September 2016, Mersing achieved a milestone in getting an award for completing the longest Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crossing for Water Pipeline from Pulau Indah to Pulau Kelang in Malaysia. The project was launched officially in 20th August 2013 and completed in 17th May 2015.
The project involved the Replacement of Water Mains for water supply to Pulau Ketam, which consisted of 4km of 18” High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline on shore with 1.96km of 16” steel submarine pipeline by HDD method across the West Port shipping channel.
The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Malaysia has confirmed that to date, the HDD crossing for the Submarine Water Pipeline is the longest in the history of Malaysia.
