Least you weren't racing DEV GHOSTS so even on easier skills the other competitors would leave you sucking dirt, least in the original, you stood a fair chance just through some knowledge of how the game works.
It's been 23 years, but my palms are still sweating watching this. There were a couple of moves I wouldn't have done, but excellent gameplay regardless. Much nostalgia and muscle memory pains now.
I remember being 5 years old and my dad buying me a PS1 in 1995. This and Crash Bandicoot were the games I probably played the most besides Twisted Metal and Need for Speed. The soundtrack is just iconic and I would throw my wallet at whoever made a new Jet Moto! Ah nostalgia 😍
This game just randomly popped up in my head out of no where while watching videos of old sega genesis games. It's crazy that as I see parts of each course I remember how I handled each part and what my strategy was going into them.
It's such a shame that the sequels to this weren't nearly as good. This game actually felt Fast. The bikes in the sequels seemed slower and heavier. I would love to see a graphics-only enhanced re-release of this. Keep the handling, speed and physics all the same just clean it up with modern visuals.
The music was also MUCH better in the first game. Singletrac had great game soundtracks in 1995-1996. Jet Moto, Twisted Metal, Twisted Metal 2, and Warhawk all sounded amazing.
I LOVED THIS GAME 35:37 if you punch all your boost and then twist the bike so that you're riding upside down on the ceiling while flying over the heads of your older brothers, you will feel like a *god* in 1996
The Max and Wild ride were all I needed. Man, this was a true gem. I remember this scored terribly when it first came out but the level of skill and speed was ahead of its time. Hitting the grapple right into a wave without losing speed on Joyride just felt so good. Suicide Swamp gotta be my favorite map navigating the marshlands terrible graphics and pop ins lol
I was 12 when I first started playing this! I traded my Sega Genesis in for the PS1. I played this game nearly all summer before 6th grade. It brings back so much! Thanks for sharing.
I showed this to my dad, and he laughed, saying he remembers it. Not only he loved racing on the big jets, he found it hilarious at how you can knock someone off their own. (Sorry. I don't know what to call the thing, other than just jets. I can't really call it a jet ski since these can go on land as well.😐)
Masala was so underrated. No acceleration but his top speed was fantastic and could easily push around the smaller riders. He was surprisingly easier to use for those starting out.
I just noticed that myself. Lol. I don't know how I didn't notice when I was a kid (maybe I did and just forgot about it) because I used to play Twisted Metal 2 all the time, and I still come back to that one from time to time. I haven't played Jet Moto since the 90's though, and the nostalgia is hitting hard.
Pro Tip: Last Snow track if you turn your ride both ways, not just roll, you can turn the bike upside down, sideways, and tap the roof of the cave and still land it bottom down if you keep twisting and take it full speed. I use to do it all the time. Also BONUS FACT, that music in the track was also used in a TWISTED METAL game. Note the tire screeching sound effect originally made for that theme before Jet Motor.
Probably my number one most played game as a kid. Was surprised to see that OP doesn't rotate away from the grapple turns on the suicide tracks. It's just as fast but keeps the rider upright.
God this hurts to look at. But it was so smooth and fun when it first came out. Amazing how far the technology has come. Can you imagine looking back at God of War 2018 and thinking it looks rough?
Man I remember riding into the side of the ramps in that first level and they'd launch you way up in the air. Right at the bottom where the ramp starts. Best physics glitch.
Oh I remember this game. I didn't have a memory card so I could only play a couple levels and I wanted to play that night stage that appeared on the demo so bad.
I had the same issue with the memory card for a while! Worse, I thought the level codes that a lot of games had were cheating lol. So almost every game I played for a good chunk of my childhood I played from the beginning each time.
@@angry_zergling I did that with Tekken and Soul Blade. lol You had to beat the game like 15 times to get all the characters. That poor ps1 stayed on for like 3 days straight. Awesome memories.
Damn dude jet moto 2 and test drive 4 were my first playstation games. I'm 31 now and my original test drive 4 still works. I remember the wheels were basically circles painted on squares lmao. The pitbull special was a handful to drive cause it would flip and it had police cars that would stop you if they got in front of you. And the mighty maul was the McLaren
My kids play a game on Xbox one called rip tide gp renegade. I was telling them that I used to play a game just like it! And I put this video on. Ahh to be young again. I’m almost 33 and I remember playing this when I was my kids age.
This game was the game that made me buy a PS1. I was hugely popular back in the day. Dont know why Sony would sit on such an Awesome racing game. Bring back JET MOTO !!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just went through a season multiple times to unlock then to play the unlocked seasons..all on professional with Black Jack. super frustrating till I got back into the game like I used to as a kid.
3:08 it gives me upmost anxiety watching him drive through the waves. Hello you have like the small islands you can drive through around. I hated driving through the waves. You’ll literally go from first place to 10th in one shot.
This one made me really feel like I was in it, it was such a rush, This was my favorite one on PlayStation until it broke and I got a Nintendo 64 and Goldeneye become my favorite
One of the game of my Summer 98 one of my best summer ever. I was going to be 11. I know we're going to see this kind of race in Real life somedays, yet they want to release uber drone taxi in 2023 and for paris Olympie games in 2024. Just a little more patience ;)
Would love to see a longplay of Streak: Hoverboard Racing. It was a spiritual successor to Jet Moto (made by the same devs) after 989 Studios got the rights to Jet Moto 3, and a great game.
Idk who’s playing this, but they SUCK at grappling the turns. I used to be such a beast with grappling roundabout turns, with keeping the bike steady, and without tipping over. At 14 years old. One caveat of Gunner was the bike nimbleness, but he was a fast bike along with Wild Ride. It’s all about the fingers and joystick-trigger buttons.
Story goes sony wanted to do a jetski game but nintendo had the kawasaki license so their response was jet moto which became a cult classic i remember playing this on launch i loved the 2nd one better same with twisted metal though on the first twisted you could take a side jump and do a barrel roll and interior view good ol days. How about that first interactive 1995 sony demo epic!! Destruction derby /toshinden / jumping flash demo!! Videos and more
