🇧🇾 I had been searching the radiated forests of the Belarus Chernobyl zone for my friend Kolya but with no luck. Then I drove to the nearest village where there was one last. inhabited house. I knocked on the door and waited....
Kolya has advanced Parkinsons Disease and the leg pain is likely associated with this. There are medications avialable which can markedly reduce the symptoms of PD. Perhaps organising treatment by a specialist in the city may be possible by crowd funding and this would likely both improve and lengthen his life.
From Kolya’s perspective what a strange thing this must all be. A bald Englishman shows up randomly from time to time lavishing him with gifts and money. We should all be so lucky to have a RU-vidr come to our house.
SNBoomer it would be great if Ben set up a P.O Box and asked us, all of Kolya’s friends to send him a picture postcard of where we live. Then he could deliver them the next time he visits. Kolya wouldnt be able to read any messages but he could have beautiful pictures to look at from around the world that would brighten up his home and he would know that for each postcard, at least one person has been affected by him. I think Kolya would like to see other places besides Belarus. I hope Ben sees this.
Love this guy. He doesn't even know the internet. I've used "It's better to be a small potato in your own land" 4 times this week and each time people nodded and looked at me like I'm a professor. Hilarious.
Thats the name of the famous Russian song about 60 years old. It was written as the anthem for ice hockey in USSR. But soon the phrase became useful for any situation that requires some extra fitness, strength and wit. It now means "you can't back down if you're going at smth big".
Яuяal Squiяяel I don’t think he was impressed by the one doing her shopping for taking the pi$$ out of his odd shoelaces 20 years beforehand. Imagine being with a woman who still brings stuff up from 20 years ago!!
This is beautiful, two men from vastly different worlds form a friendship and respect each other regardless. You mean alot to that guy and it's nice to watch, makes a change from all of the other hate and intolerance in the world. God bless you bald.
Old man with Parkinson's in the middle of a radioactive zone in a country I didn't know existed for half of my life just gave me inspiration quotes.... humanity came so far
No history book I studied as a student could pass on understanding the way videographers like you do! Because of people like you, Humanity will remember! In a Thousand years this old man will live again in the chronicles of the people of Earth! Thank you my bankrupt friend!!
When Kolya saw Ben at the door, that was a display of such a raw, unscripted emotion. That man may not have too many material items in his life, but clearly he holds dear the truest and most important things in life, and most prominently being love. Kolya clearly loves Ben, and I'm sure his other friends as well. I am always so happy to see this man, though I am sure he will never know or see me in return. Always wishing the best to him, and his simple life.
Im belarussian, and im proud that we are of the same blood with Kolya. Thanks to him, that many people will find out that in our poor country there are a lot of good people/
Damn, just one tear rolled down my cheek when he hugged you. I love this channel so much, everyone is like friends, I don't feel like a stranger while reading comments. And we can see how the comments changed from Russian memes to the real talks, reality, life. You're an awesome human being Bald
The pure joy kolya felt when he seen you standing at the door,it is clear that you made a huge impact in him. "A Coward does not play hockey" Kolya 2019
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” no guessing which kolya is...
*I hope to see Kolya once again in the near future. He is truly a strong man.* Edit: I forgot to say he is truly inspiring and bring tears to my eyes I feel bad for him being lonely even though he is the strongest man in the entire planet.
I find this story absolutely fascinating. Everyone who has watched Kolya videos know about him but he doesn't know what the internet is and that so many people know about him. In the previous videos comments people were worried for him. The two total polar opposite - Kolya, alone in the radiation zone and all the thousands of people from across the world connected and following his story. Massive respect for Ben going there and bringing these two totally different worlds together.
It's kinda heartbreaking in a way when you say goodbye.. I mean the way his living is kinda unimaginable nowadays.. Imagine he'salone in that very huge place and doesn't have the basic convenience in life, specially it's very clear he's not that strong physically now, Spending your little time must be a huge thing for him.. Can't imagine i can survive in that situation. I might die from loneliness.. Very inspiring. Kolya is a very strong man..
дядя Коля такой милый одинокий старичок, видно, что душа чистая у него, через многое прошел.. спился.. но все равно человек, видно, что хороший. спасибо, что радуете и помогаете ему!
You should take a polaroid with you on those trips, so you can leave a picture with the people you met. I'm from Brazil by the way, and I simply love the videos you make. I was just watching it with my mother after the dinner. I wonder when we'll see Kolya again!?
No director ,no script writer, no art director, no professional cameraman, but a beautiful Oscar winning sentimental videos makes every one in this world to think and feel about this material life that we live today.
I would love to see how Kolya looked back in the day. Also more about his life: was he married? did he had any children? has he ever been to Minsk? what about other places? Congratulations on making so good content Ben, keep it up!
0:30 might be my favourite moment in any video ever. The sheer joy from Kolya when he sees his friend again. This is so right in so many ways. The joy you give to people by just being yourself and being genuine is amazing Mr. B&B
He’s a tough old bird. Absolutely a classic. The stories he could tell with life lessons for all. I’m 🙏 he is still with us in 2022 physically and if not he will be mentally and spiritual.
