Word! 1972 here 😊 The radio stations had all of my ears, back then in this Magic Music time... Plus the music clips... I was always steady with my cassette tapes and video tapes to record, press re-wind and pressed play and made a own cassette and video clip mix tape 😅

Loose Ends had a sound that was way ahead of their time. This is why this track, and many of their others, still sound fresh as when it first came out.
Yes they were in the same lane as the S.O.S. Band and Midnight Star, and even KLEEER. But because they are British they brought something a little different. They were all classically trianed musicians, brought that classic British flavor to their music. Kind of Soul To Soul before but with a trained musical base. It was slightly more than musical hood ISH. They had a specific lane. DOPE Though!!!

Hello all you funksters and funksterettes over the age of 60. I am a geezer aged 65 and remember this band with fond memories. We would frequent many discos in the late 70's and early 80's. It was a time like no other when it came to soul/funk/jazz funk/r and b and so much more. Most of us could not dance to save our lives. That didn't matter as we were all about the music and atmosphere of the disco, yes I did say disco. So geezers and geezerettes, what do we make of this track? Whilst some purists of the disco sound may not think this is a disco track, it is what I would term "as a transition". I could go on,but I will not. Sufficed to say , Dust off your funky shoes and boogie. ❤

Wasn't underrated at the time. Growing up a young kid in London in the 80s i heard this tune almost every day for years. Every black family gathering would spin this track, often multiple times lol!

So I don't know what is the basis of saying Loose Ends' "Hangin' on a String (Contemplating)" is "underrated." When the song was on the market, it was a No. 1 single that received a lot of radio airplay around the United States.

Nah, I don't think Sade would sit well with this track, Sade is more laid back whereas this needs an energetic vocalist. No one can improve on this track.
maccagrabme This is not an energetic song, its as laid back as they come. Like made for a slick artist like Sade, she would carry this to new heights. If you listen to the groove it resembles Sweetback, Sade Adou's own band.
All the music from 70s,80s, and 90s all a master piece and classic era's and that's what's missing in today music today music isn't legendary like these eras were
