I watched SZA at Glastonbury and thought where did it all go wrong, when back in the day they had bangers like this smash hit in the clubs. RnB has died today.
By ByBack in Jun 1986 Whodini One Love That song was stuck.with me in summer of 86' and of course one of my family friends had the 45 single Jalil, DJ Dee and the late Ecstasy knew what they were talking about when it comes to relationships and oh yeah can't forget about the video with the legendary dance move. Although I love this version so much but the double repeated five key change was toward the end of the song. Rest in Rhymes John "Ecstasy" Fletcher with the hat. ☝️💙
Remember when i was 9 or 10 years old jamming with "uncle" Carl and auntie Haley in my other aunties kitchen in Hackney. He was on guitar, my aunt was singing, and i was keeping the beat with a wooden clothes peg! Good times.
The first time I heard this was on a USN Frigate in 1985 cruising off the coast of Florida. A couple of guys were relaxing on the Fantail & had a boombox playing this while the ship lightly bobbed up & down with the waves. It was almost sunset...the soundtrack to the ocean was great. The only thing missing was my girlfriend to sit & watch it together. Nonetheless, this song & that scene is forever with me.
