writer in the dark it’s about her as a songwriter, this guy is gonna regret having a relationship with her because she’ll write a song about it. The secret power she found is her songwriting
@@julia2802 bro also has Midnights and 1989 like imagining being a producer on three albums of the year lol he's insanely versatile. How he's able to go from folklore to Red TV to Solar Power to Midnights needs to be studied
@@Jeff-ul8qk Ok, yeah that's more than I thought. For some reason I forgot that he produced Mirrorball and Illicit Affairs. I still see it as more of a Dessner album though.
This is my favorite album ever. I love how sensory and physical Lorde is with her lyrics because it fits so well with the concept. And all at 19? Insane
The entire tracklist and story feels like the endless loop one might fall into from 18 to 20 when they can now drink and drugs are made available. I'll say that the older i've gotten since 2017 when the album came out, the more i've related to it. Lorde was way ahead of her time with this album, her writing is incredible and the sound fits what she was capturing.
this hands down my favorite pop album. its just so good. liability is my favorite song of all time. you have to listen to her newest album. its a completely different vibe. I think you'd like it even more
49:08 I love that she's repeating the same thing while saying something different in the background "Because all our moments in the dark are wild fluorescent in my heart" Instead of: "Because ours are the moments I play in the dark We were wild and fluorescent Come home to my heart"
You should react to her first album Pure Heroine. Its is less heavy on the production, her voice guides most songs in the album and I find it impressive how Lorde does it so successfully! Great reaction very detailed and structured!
I am obsessed with how you react!!! You aren’t overdramatic when you’re impressed and it’s so nice to just witness you experience the music - that’s my the biggest reason I watch music reactions (to feel like I’m sharing music I like with a new friend and I want to know your authentic and true reaction!). I love too how you break down the production and talk about what you like about it. The way you caught onto the fact that this is a concept album just after track 2 really shows you’re really actually paying attention and aren’t just doing it for the video. Thank you for this - seriously. You’re authentically reacting and YouTubing second. Most have it the other way around. Bravo sir! 🎉
I first heard the song Green Light in the TV series New Girl. I've been addicted to it ever since, I think it's a very beautiful and meaningful song. Even just the melody is beautiful, especially the piano parts!! Awesome reaction
@@heli_3105 jack only produced few songs on folklore and midnights tbh is good tbh.... it may not be for the main public but it was made for the fans no one will gets its depth.
Is this your first album reaction to Lorde? I mean I think you vaguely mentioned having listened to other music of hers but I can't find any other album reaction of her stuff scrolling quickly through your stuff... And there's no playlist available...
The fadeouts on this album is like someone going through a tragedy (which she was, a catastrophic break-up) where you're processing things and sitting there just in shock of it all.
Lorde was 16 whe her debut album became a smash hit and she was suddenly travelling around the world, etc. Once she got back home to Aotearoa she was immediately broken up with (I gather her partner didn't want the shit that comes with dating a pop star). This album came out just under four years later so she would have been 19-20.
An awesome review, great reaction I would love to hear your review on Lorde first album extended. version - pure Heroiine. she was 16 when album was released. I will subscribe and will be waiting patiently thanks
i think you’ll like lana del rey! for album in terms of lyricism like melodrama, Norman F Rockwell by Lana Del Rey is excellent if you are looking for production wise interesting album, Born to Die by Lana Del Rey combines Baroque Pop with Hip Hop!
Hey! Here some notes: - The album is a whole concept. Lorde uses a party as a metaphor for a relationship and “Green Light” it’s the prologue of the story. She knows that she need to let him go, but she’s not ready. - We can divide the album in three parts: The beginning of the relationship/the party (Sober, Homemade Dynamite and The Louvre), The end of the relationship/ the Hangover (Liability, Hard Feelings/Loveless, Sober II and Writer in the Dark) and the Nostalgia / the Memories of the party (Supercut, Liability Reprise and Perfect places) - The “Violence” mentioned in ‘The Louvre’ it’s a metaphor: He makes her so exited that her hart beats ‘Violent’, so the violence throughout the album refers to the intense things. Also, one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNDERRATED lines in the whole album is: “But we’re the greatest, they’ll hang us in the Louvre, down the back, but who cares- still the Louvre”… back in the French Revolution (1792/1795) in the Louvre, traitors were punished by hanging them (Down the back). So she uses that line not only to say that their relationship is as beautiful as a work of art worthy of being displayed in the Louvre, but also to say that she feels like a traitor for choosing to spend time with her loved one and not with her friends. (“Blow all my friendships to sit in hell with you”). And the outro is one of te biggest storytellers of the album. - Something that is also mentioned a lot during the album is "the summer", being another metaphor for a relationship: warmth, fun, spontaneity, etc. and when this relationship ends "the winter" or “the cold” is mentioned as in 'Liability' or 'Hard Feelings'. - In my personal opinion “Perfect places” it’s a Anthem to youth, banal problems and spontaneity. a jewel.
You should react to any of Lana Del Rey’s albums!! Id recommend “Born to Die”, “Ultraviolence”, “NFR”, or “Did you know that theres a tunnel under Ocean blvd”!!
@@duongnguyen-zk4rj wrong, videogames came out in 2011 and blew up in only days, and born to die came out in 2012, being the 4th best selling album of 2012, while royals was released in 2013
She's one of the most powerful lyricists of this generation of artists. You shold react to her debut album "Pure Heroine" and her last album "Solar Power "!!
Lorde is the writer in the dark, she is saying he will regret kissing a song writer who will know sing and make songs about his wrong doings. Liability Reprise is lorde singing to herself saying she's not a mistake, she's not a liability like she had been made to think by this boy.
I'm a Kiwi living in Aotearoa New Zealand, thanks for your review of Lorde's Melodrama. I'm a huge Lorde fan. Your review 'format' is refreshing, less interruptions, listening to individual tracks followed by an insightful analysis of each song. I like how you show the lyrics on screen, Lorde is as much a poet as she is a singer, artist and producer. The lyrics on Melodrama show cases Lorde's amazing storytelling ability with the maturity of a seasoned poet... Lorde released her debut album "Pure Heroine" when she was 16 (2013) and 11yrs on its still holds up and has inspired artist like Billy Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo. David Bowie referred to Lorde as "the future of music" I look forward to seeing more of your reactions. :)
Screw you! The beaches are awesome in New Zealand and we bring our own shades. As a bonus it's also easy to find them with hardly anyone else on it... 😆
melodrama is my favorite album of all time and the way you reacted to hard feelings/loveless made me tear up because it's the first time someone experienced it the same way i do THIS ALBUM IS JUST MASTERPIECE
Please Sir can we get Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey, or any Lana album? I recommend this one because it’s her best album storytelling wise and also vocally.
Would you react to the 5 seconds of summer, they're a hugely underrated boy band, their early work leans towards pop/punk/rock but the latest ones are more mature
The violence in The Louvre refers to her heart beating violently since after that she says "Megaphone to my chest. Broadcast the boom boom boom boom and make 'em all dance to it".
