My favorite artists have a tendency to release albums that exactly fit where I am in life, and Melodrama came out right as I was suffering through the end of a toxic LTR and the subsequent breakup and healing. My Current Favorite Song moved through the album as I processed the breakup. Phantogram did the same thing in 2020, making a album processing Sarah's sister's death, right before my friend died of an intentional OD. It's too real
@@syntheticsilkwood2206 the genius annotation explains it well: Lorde uses the story of “Jack and Jill” to sum up the story of a relationship. In the nursery rhyme, a boy and girl suffer some kind of misfortune. In the most commonly told version of the rhyme, they fall down a hill. In Lorde’s case, the misfortune is the fallout of a relationship that began in a state of euphoria. Too many times she has seen this drama play itself out. Two people meet, become infatuated with each other during a fun-filled and alcohol-fueled weekend, but then reality sets in. When the weekend is over and both parties involved go back to their daily lives full of obligations and responsibilities, things just don’t seem as fun. The two begin to see each other in their regular routine lives, which isn’t anything like the shiny, carefree nature in which they met and have, through no real fault of their own, based the entire relationship upon.
Maybe it’s obvious, but I have yet to see anyone point this out. In Green Light when she says “She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a damn liar | well those great whites they have big teeth | hope they bite you” she’s calling his “white” lies great “whites” like the shark saying she hopes his lies come back to bite him, like a shark lol. Also sharks obviously live in the ocean and he lied about liking the beach. That line is SO GENIUS
This album is a process. IT IS A DAMN PHASE 1. From meeting someone for the first time 2. Getting high and drunk in a party with that someone u met 3. The best part of relationship, the happy days that u really treasure with that someone u met. "were the greatest, they'll hang is un the louvre." 4. The worst part of relationship, when they left and you realized, you are not enough cause you are a damn liability, so you will just gonna disappear. 5. You are on a moving on stage, and you start to care for yourself the way you did to that someone. I guess there is no 'hardfeelings' cause we are all LOVELESS. This is a damn loveless generation. 6th phase. Getting drunk once again and reminisce those spectacular memories they have made. Shes cleaning up every mess they did-"cleaning off the champagne glasses" 7th phase. She remember when that someone kiss her in the dark. She's still drunk and saying ill love you till the cops came on me. 8th phase. U invented great scenarios that didnt really happened. Its all just a supercuts, a damn Supercuts. 9th phase. You are now fine. that man isnt worth the way he think he worth. Im not what I thought I was. Im not a liability. Its either both, i still dont know who is she referring. Last phase. damn were loveless, lets find some perfect places. Were too young for that silly love. Wow lorde, please comeback i miss you so damn much.
There's no way you can dislike one of the songs of melodrama. Every time that I say I'm not a fan of a particular song I give it a second chance and the magic happens all over again
Samuel Johnny OHMYGOD RIGHT? I didnt like Homemade Dynamite that much when i first heard it but i listened to it again and now its one of my favorite songs!!!
At first I didn't like The Louvre, but lyrics have always been the most important to me, so when I heard some of the lyrics, I gave it another chance and it was amazing. I love that instrumental at the end.
The only song that caught my attention when I first heard the album was Hard Feelings (I hate the Loveless part). But now, every single song is my fave.
@@jazzl.7197 I knooooow. I remember the day I first got to listen Sober. God... I miss that moment. And I come back to this videos bcs I actually said the same: 'I can't be the only person experiencing this album like this'. I remember I cried so much of happiness
Melodrama can’t be described. Hard Feelings/Loveless is simply a mystical experience, it makes me cry. I think Melodrama is Lorde’s masterpiece. I’m happy with Solar Power and enjoyed her third album as well because I felt a more “grown up Ella”, but this album makes the emotions of a human being supernatural.
Solar Power is nice but there's something about Melodrama that no album can replicate except folklore maybe. I mean when Solar Power came out I knew it couldn't be better than Melodrama. I doubt Lorde will ever be able to produce something better than Melodrama.
In Liability (Reprise) the line "But you're not what you thought you were" is actually Lorde talking to herself. She said so in an interview. That line isn't directed towards anyone else except towards the idea of herself that she described in "Liability" ... the reprise was a way of picking up the pieces and realizing she's more than what she thought she was ❤️
Vox 2448 I somehow deleted Sober II from my phone and when i heard it on youtube i was so shook. I always liked this song and still can't recover from what I did. How could i forget for months about it
knowing she has chromesthesia (sound-to-color synesthesia, means she see sounds as color) i could only imagine what her songs looks like, it must be explosions of color. It surely helps her with songwriting, wow I'm so jealous of people who has this :((
Felipe Reblora I have this and melodrama is the most colorful album I’ve ever listened to. The album art portrays the colors SO WELL !!! So much pink, blue and orange all throughout the album.
I think I might have it but i'm not sure. I get feelings of certain songs being certain colors and patterns like green light being a sharp green in a flowing line sort of way, and the louvre being a dark purple mixed with black but then transitioning into a gray and soft yellow at the end. Is this the sort of thing that people with chromesthesia have? I'm not really sure because sometimes these are very faint and hard to process and for some sounds and songs, I just feel it as black and white.

Palacios Palacios yeah I mean it’s probably top 50 ever. It’s 100% the best pop album of the decade. It’s in my top five fav albums but not my top five best
Ok, it’s really really hard to narrow down to a few favourites, but I have to, so here they are: Green light, sober, homemade dynamite, the louvre, liability, hard feelings/loveless, sober ii (melodrama), writer in the dark, supercut, liability (reprise), and perfect places. oh wait i listed all 11 again noooo
This is probably the best and funniest and the most passionate album reaction in the history of album reactions! 😂 I’ve seen this video like 10 times now! Dude your energy is INFECTIOUS! Loving your videos
