Beautiful explanation of true grace and what faith and repentance mean and how we can have assurance of eternal life! May the Lord watch over all involved in this ministry. I praise God for faithful preachers of the gospel of salvation by God's grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, including Dr Bing.

I have been living in this understanding of Grace for the last 25 years. I remember a minister friend of mine describing how he led people to Christ by having them make a commitment to Jesus as Lord. I described how I imparted the Gospel to others. He looked at me incredulously and replied, “Well, that’ll never work! You aren’t having them to do anything!” I said exactly. Of course, that only increased his incredulity! J I will be following your podcast now. Thank you Dr. Bing!

Love it brother. It's been less than a year, after 18 not knowing if OSAS is true or what my part was the Gregg Jackson's channel really helped me to see the simplicity of the gospel of salvation and grace!! But now I am tired of the 'brethren' around me giving me blank stairs are saying 'You're giving people a free pass to sin' when I present the gospel for our time.

So we can inherit eternal life while living in unrepentant sin as long as we say we believe in Jesus?
@soulh4838
@soulh4838 9 месяцев назад
@2Chronicles714_ Put simply, yes. The way to know if you're saved and living in unrepentant sin is, how's life going? If you're getting punished by God, who's your heavenly Father, yes, you're saved. If you don't seem to be getting punished for your unrepentant sins, then you're not saved, and you're a bastard according to Hebrews 12!! You can sin all you want as a child of God, but NOT without consequences!! The bigger the sins, the bigger the punishment will be, especially if there's no repentance of them, not for salvation, but to maintain fellowship with God the Father, just like the prodigal son!!

@soulh4838 Not according to Jesus Himself. Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. These people obviously believed in Jesus to do the works he commands we do, so why does He say it. They were living in unrepentant sin [Ye who practice iniquity] He goes on. Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore 👉whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.👉 26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Colossians teaches that we should all freely worship God as we please. Does God really look down on those wanting to put Him first because of their love and devotion for HIm? Stop judging in such ways as God will surely judge us for being so petty. Why are we so divisive toward our brethren...there are real eternally damning issues attacking the unsaved, let's share His amazing Gospel message in love and joy. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, praise God as you desire as we all will be judged by our King of kings and Lord of lords. This is meant to be an encouragement to all who are living in doubt of their eternal salvation. All who have been born again of the permanently indwelling Holy Spirit will go in the rapture wether they're watching or not. But only those who are eagerly watching for our blessed hope, which we know as the rapture and our gathering together in the clouds to meet our great God and savior Jesus the Christ, will be given the crown of righteousness and those who are not eagerly watching will not be given the crown of righteousness. There is a not so funny christian saying- “Some christians are holding on so tightly to the things of this world that when the rapture happens they will arrive in heaven feet first.” No christian, faithful or unfaithful will be left behind. The whole body of Christ, also known as the bride, will go in the rapture. Rapture worthiness is not based upon self righteous works of filthy rag obedience which would lead to boasting and there will be none of that in heaven. Rapture worthiness is based upon if we believed at some point in our life that what Jesus did on the cross to pay for our sin, in his own blood, was done on our behalf, according to the scriptures. I'm so tired of people scaring other christians by telling them “you're going to miss the rapture if your not ready or watching.” A total lie from a prideful self righteous pharisaical spirit or just plain ignorance of what eternal salvation means. Jesus paid with his own blood for all our sins, past present and future and gave us HIS righteousness. We are now totally blameless and totally worthy of the rapture wether we realize it or not. Eternal salvation is an event, not a process. Works: If you have to earn it, who would get the credit, you would (PRIDE). Grace: If it were free, who would get the credit, Jesus would. I give Jesus all the credit. Jesus was tested on my behalf. I am eternally saved because Jesus gave me his righteousness. I am pleasing to Jesus because I believe in who he is and what he did for me on the cross in his own blood. We are eternally secure in Jesus. Nothing, NO-THING, can ever take us out of Jesus's hand once we are born again. This side of death or the rapture we can never be sinless because we currently life in this fallen meat machine we call our body of flesh that was sown in incorruption and we eagerly await the day this corruption will take on incorruption at the rapture. You see, we now have two natures living within us. The flesh and the spirit and both are fighting for pole position. In this fallen flesh we will always be subject to the temptations of sin but the spirit which is of God that permanently lives within us can never sin and is even now seated in the heavenly realm. Those that are found faithful after the eternal salvation EVENT has happened he will blessed with crowns and rewards but those who are found unfaithful after the everlasting salvation event has happened will lose crowns and rewards for unfaithful service at the Bema seat of Christ but saved none the less as through the fire of testing. All christians, even the unfaithful ones (this is a very hard pill for the faith + works false converts to swallow because of their self righteous pride), will not miss out on the rapture. The only thing that is conditional for a born again eternally saved believer is crowns and rewards for the type of quality of faithfulness that we lived, never for eternal salvation. We can never be lost. We can never loose salvation. Evidence of being born again does not mean someone is saved. We ARE saved if we at some point in our life believed and trusted only in Jesus's finished work on the cross on our behalf. That is what saves. Being faithful to the end does not save. ONLY believing that Jesus paid for ALL our sins in HIS own blood. He did it for us. We no longer have any sin to be judged for because Jesus was sin for us. Our sin debt has been paid in full and if it’s been paid in full we no longer have any sins to be held against us. We live a faithful life not to remain saved but because we ARE saved. Yes, Jesus paid our sin in absolute full. So after the eternal salvation event has happened then live it. But don't live it because you are trying to keep it, because it can never be lost. You are either saved or you're not. There is no middle ground. Eternal salvation is not base upon a merit system. Crowns and rewards are, but not salvation. There is no: yes you are saved, BUT. There are no and's, if's or But's added to salvation. It was finished 2000 years ago when Jesus cried out "IT IS FINISHED." So in summary, yes, the moment we were born again we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, as a guarantee, until the day of redemption. For Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, not the other way around. He will finish what he started in us. And when Jesus starts something nothing in all creation can stop him from finishing it, which he already said he did on the cross. All he wants us to do is to believe that he did it all for us. Simple faith like that of a child. I hope and pray this will encourage you because our great God’s got this. Yes, he’s really got this, just trust him. He knows what he’s doing and he’s promised to never leave or forsake you. God bless. Jesus is my rock upon which I stand, my firm foundation. Maranatha! WFS

No Christian faithful or unfaithful will be left behind? Luke 13:23-30 kj Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 0:04 The gate is narrow because the process is hard, and the perspective we need to see the entrance to the narrow gate comes only through the Savior, Christ Jesus. We don’t do it on our own but operate by the power of Christ, in us, so God receives all the glory. The goal of the narrow gate starts with repentance followed by obedience to live a life that glorifies God. It may seem counterproductive to fight through the narrow gate of persecution and hardship by resting in Jesus. His burden is light, He promises. Putting it down all that entangles us is difficult! However,the possibility of missing our chance at eternity is extremely plausible if we clutch onto sinfull desires,lusts and pursuits of the world the wide gate.Destruction means a loss that produces utter ruin, perishing and here refers to loss of eternal life with God. Matthew 24:13 Matthew 24:13 The Greek says He who has endured till the end, this is the one that will be saved.

@@2Chronicles714_ Part 1 So many Christians in name only need to unlearn the lies they've been taught by the 99.9% of the false faith + works churches of the world. Don’t they realize the road to hell is paved with good intentions. There will be a lot of bad people (lairs, thieves, murderers, homosexuals) in heaven and a lot of good people (self righteous workers of iniquity, finger pointers, fruit inspectors, legalists, holy rollers) in hell. This is because the bad people came to the understanding they were bad (wretched sinners in need of a savior) but then had a change of mind (METANOIA) and believed in Jesus's finished work alone on the cross, according to the scriptures, to pay for all their badness (past and ongoing sins we ALL commit every single day of our lives till we die or are raptured) and that it was done on their behalf and without adding any of their own works or merit to what Jesus said he finished. The so-called good people, as it were, the (self righteous who add to what Jesus finished), who end up in hell, are those who trusted in their own works, ignoring or adding to what Jesus said he finished for them. Through their works they try to gain access to heaven. They never trusted fully in what Jesus did for them but pridefully added some sort of merit of their own (pointing to others sins and not realizing they are just as sinful) to the simple truth that Jesus paid it all for them. All Jesus wanted them to do is believe it. Jesus did the finishing, not us and our filthy rag obedience. Our only job is to believe (Metanoia = a change of mind) that he did it all for us. We add nothing more and take away nothing from that simple truth of OSAS. Metanoia is a Greek word that is translated to "repentance" in English. It means to change one's mind from once not believing that Jesus paid for all my sins in full, to now believing alone that Jesus paid for all my sins in full. A 180 degree turn from once not believing to believing. To be sure. If you are striving to not sin then you are relying on your own self righteousness apart from what Jesus said he finished. Don't get me wrong. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We will never be immune to the temptations of the flesh. Both the flesh and the spirit are fighting for pole position within our members. Even Paul admitted to his knowing daily habitual sin and yet he was a man chosen by Jesus himself on the road to Damascus to deliver the gospel to the gentle nations. OSAS has nothing to do about it being okay to sin. Heaven forbid. But Jesus knew it wasn't possible to not sin. He was the only one who could be sinless. 1 CORINTHIANS 5:5 " deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord Jesus. Just so you know. 1Cor 5:5 even by today's standards is an egregious sin. That of sleeping with the wife of his father. This was a ongoing willing sin these two individuals were committing every day and yet Paul clearly shows in this verse that the only thing at risk for these two eternally born again believers was loss of their fleshly lives and maybe crowns and rewards at the bemma seat of Christ for unfaithfulness, but not salvation of the soul that was permanently sealed within these individuals, as a guarantee, until the day of redemption. It’s not, (we may ), its, (we do) all struggle with sins every day, even you out there in youtube land. If you say you don't sin then you are a liar and a sinner. 1 John 1:8-10 Just thinking out loud. Have you considered the thief on the cross? Or how about deathbed conversions. Or how about fox hole conversions. These are but a few examples of people who at the last moments of life, before they died, had ZERO opportunity to bear good fruit or to be obedient or faithful. All they had was belief ALONE. Would these people not be saved because they couldn't prove their conversion by showing fruit or proof of their conversion by obedience and faithfulness. I propose they are saved. If anything comes from us other than belief ALONE, then it is a work, even obedience. It must must must always be ALL about what Jesus finished for us. ABSOLUTELY ZERO merit or works of faithfulness are the prerequisite to gaining nor keeping salvation. We don't have to do anything to get or keep salvation other than belief ALONE. What I do or don't do after having that Metanoia (change of mind) moment in time matters NOT. Jesus finished it, not us. I always love the scripture below which proves salvation is a free gift without any work or merit (obedience) of our own to prove it. As an example. Have you ever given a small child something they desire and when you give it to them they happily say thank you and excitedly take it from you and begin to play or use it is such a way that is fitting for whatever you gave them. They don't even have the slightest concept that they owe you anything for the gift you just gave them. All they know is that you freely gave them what they wanted, end of story and now they are going to enjoy it. In their mind it is now theirs. They have not yet learned the concept that nothing in life is free. They only learn that later in life when they are grown up in the adult world and then start adding works to what is supposed to be a very simple and narrow path message of belief alone. But this verse is referring to a child that hasn't yet learned about the reality of life and all the many broad rules/paths that the churches seem to heap on their congregations. Jesus is saying that salvation must be RECEIVED like this innocent little child that doesn't have the knowledge or expectation of paying back (works of obedience) the person (Jesus) for the gift (salvation) that Jesus gives freely. Mark 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not RECEIVE (freely take that which is offered without payment) the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. According to the false faith + works churches of the world salvation can be lost, and you can never really KNOW if you've been obedient enough or done enough to be saved or to be rapture worthy, which is contrary to what the bible has to say. "1 JOHN 5:13 These things I have written unto you that (BELIEVE) in the name of the Son of God, that ye may (KNOW) that ye have "ETERNAL LIFE" (OSAS), and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God." This is called what many so vehemently, like these self-righteous preachers hate, OSAS, because of their PRIDE because the flesh loves to boast. I (KNOW) I'm saved and rapture worthy no matter what I do or don't do after having that Metanoia (change of mind) moment in time which is something many deny. It kind of sounds like some of you do out there in youtube land. Do they really think their false understanding of what eternal life really means will change the fact that it means what it says which is OSAS. Eternal means forever; without end, which means I will ALWAYS be saved. Are they really going to pridefully show Jesus how awesome they were and how obedient and how hard they toiled and worked for him like Cain did as a worker who toiled in the field (world) whom God rejected when he brought forth his WORK (fruit, merit, actions), unlike Abel who brought forth the blood of an innocent lamb (Jesus) which God accepted. Them and their filthy rag works of self righteous Pharisaical fruit inspecting legalistic finger pointing pathetic and pridefully obedient works will be rejected when Jesus says: Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the ( WILL ) of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful (WORKS)? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that (WORK) iniquity. Man, those fools were sure obedient. They followed all the rules and look what it got them, damnation, when all along all Jesus wanted was for them to rest in him and believe. This scripture shows that these false christian literally thought they were saved but Jesus said he NEVER knew them. They were never saved. Yes, the name of Jesus is powerful. It’s so powerful that even a false professed christian can wield it and cast out demons in his name.

@@2Chronicles714_ PART 2 Sense we're on the subject, what is the will of the father. John 6:40 For this is the ( WILL ) of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and ( BELIEVES ) in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” I see nothing about fruit bearing and obedience in this verse. And I'm not cherry picking this verse. There are so many that teach it is by belief alone and not by merit but I'm trying to keep this short, Lol. These false converts will be rejected because they were trying to add some sort of work (fruit of faithfulness) or merit of their own (pride) or denying themselves (self righteousness obedience) to what Jesus said he finished when he cried out on the cross "IT IS FINISHED!" Why are they trying to finish for him what he said he finished. Are they stupid or something? To the self-righteous it's always about how much how much how much, work work work blah blah blah. Let's play a game. What if they're just one work shy of me or slightly less of merit of what I achieved in this life according to the standards that are needed to be saved. Does that mean they're unsaved. What if I studied to show myself more approved just a bit more than them and because of this they would go to hell and I would go to heaven. Would they be okay with that based upon their own works and fruit inspecting and obedience standards. What is the measuring line that qualifies someone for salvation apart from what Jesus accomplished and finished in his own blood. How much striving to be good needs to take place. How obedient must we be. How faithful must we be (2 Tim 2:13). How much giving must we give. How many missions must we go on. How many people must we witness to. How much denying of ourselves and taking up our cross must we do. Do we take up our cross once a week. Or maybe once a day. How about ever hour or if someone takes up their cross every hour and another christian only does it when convenient. Who's the saved individual. Based on a worldly corrupted faith +works false gospel that 99.9% of the worlds churches are teaching the one doing it every hour has more merit involved (work/obedience) thus this is the one these false churches would say is saved. But salvation isn't based on work or merit is it. Where does it end. What is the standard or the threshold that we must live up to. I say it ends at the cross and in Jesus's finished work on our behalf and our acceptance of HIS work alone. The price for eternal salvation is impossibly costly and no one can afford it, not even those with all their filthy rag works. It's so costly that it took the most expensive fluid in the universe to pay for it. That fluid was the very precious blood of Jesus almighty. Why can't the faith + works false gospel preachers and their false converts see this. Salvation can never be based upon the merit system which would lead to boasting and there will be none of that in heaven when it comes to salvation. To all those that say they need to see Jesus or evidence (fruit inspecting) of the change, well all I can say is, start a farm, Lol. The back loading of works into salvation, no matter how good they think they are, will NEVER be good enough apart from what Jesus paid in full. Do they really think their stinking works are greater than that of the blood of God. The ignorant fools. Anything other than the truth of OSAS means they have to continually add their own works of obedience to keep or maintain salvation because they'll never know when enough is enough. They will always live in doubt on whether they've done enough or been obedient enough to merit salvation apart from what Jesus said he finished. They insult the blood of God and make it of no effect. Shame on them. ZERO merit of our own is added to what Jesus finished. Teaching the true eternal gospel of salvation is thee most important thing we can do in this life, which makes the faith + works, false churches, completely worthless to the kingdom of God because they can't even get the basic eternal gospel (Rev 14:6) correct. As a true Christian, I must be laser focused on being right on teaching it correctly. You're not useful to God if you can't at least get the gospel of salvation correct which is OSAS. HE DID IT ALL! It matters not, when it comes to salvation of the soul, what I do or don't do after the eternal indwelling of the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence within the heart, as a guarantee, until the day of redemption. Even Paul confessed to daily habitual sin he was guilty of. Is Paul in hell? No, of course not. He was hand picked by Jesus himself on the road to Damascus. If a truly born again child of God decided to remain unfaithful and live the gay lifestyle for example, they will always remain saved. The only thing at risk for them is catching an STD and dying physically prematurely and the possible loss of crowns and rewards at the Bema Seat of Christ for those unfaithful things done while still in this fallen flesh. Yes, the consequences of knowingly living in sin in this fallen state have repercussions to our physical state. Clearly remaining in the gay lifestyle is a sin, but if someone has truly trusted Jesus to forgive them, then Jesus did, when all those sins were yet future 2000 years ago. There is no secret sin. Jesus has seen them all and forgave them ALL. This is why it is a total insult to continue to ask Jesus to forgive you of your daily sins that he's already seen and forgave 2000 years ago. Do you believe it or not that he paid for all of them, past tense. We ARE saved, not, we are being saved. For Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, not the other way around. What Jesus started in us can never be undone, not even by ourselves by us walking away from the faith and back to the world. Jesus promised that ALL that the Father has given him, he would lose no not NONE.

Much, much closer. The early Lutherans had it nailed but went awry with Philip Melanchton and it was downhill from there. Melanchton tried to draw nearer to the Catholic view and the oft quoted phrase that 'we are justified by faith alone but not by a faith that is alone' I believe originated with him. Opened the door for a backloading and a looking to performance as a ground of assurance and it wasn't long before that backloading became a frontloading and a mutation into 'another gospel'. Much blessing to you.

Excellent Teaching. I believed in free grace as a boy. At that time, out of appreciation for Jesus' gift of salvation, I strived to be moral. I also witnessed to people often about Jesus' offer of salvation. Then I got into a Pentecostal church who taught Lordship salvation and that salvation could be easily lost. At that point, I stopped witnessing because I no longer knew what I believed myself. I lived in a state of paranoia, confusion, and terrifying uncertainty. Eventually, I left Christianity all together.

@@omartorrio1512 I get where you’re coming from. But one thing is important to note: We are supposed to use proper hermeneutical methods to interpret scripture. That’s just a fancy way of saying that the scriptures MUST always be interpreted in the correct CONTEXT. Scripture interprets scripture. So you have to take the scriptures that are unclear on the subject and compare it with crystal clear scripture. Example: Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, [9] not of works, lest anyone should boast. This is clear that salvation is achieved by grace through faith ALONE, not by works. James 2:14-26 NKJV What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? [15] If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? [17] Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. [18] But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. [19] You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! [20] But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? [21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? [22] Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? [23] And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. [24] You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. [25] Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? [26] For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. At first appearance one could assume that a person that doesn’t have works doesn’t have true saving faith at all. But that isn’t what this passage means. It means that a person’s dead faith is not profitable as a testimony to other people. He still HAS FAITH, because if it’s now dead that means it was once alive. So all it means is that good works show unbelievers that what we believe is true. But our works don’t save us or prove we’re saved. It’s just good to have a good testimony to lead others to Christ.

Actually, salvation comes from putting your faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and his blood atonement for the remission of sins. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. We are saved from eternity apart from God, in hell “Now brothers and sisters, let me remind you [once again] of the good news [of salvation] which I preached to you, which you welcomed and accepted and on which you stand [by faith]. By this faith you are saved [reborn from above-spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose], if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain [just superficially and without complete commitment]. For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to [that which] the Scriptures [foretold], and that He was buried, and that He was [bodily] raised on the third day according to [that which] the Scriptures [foretold],” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭AMP‬‬ bible.com/bible/1588/1co.15.1-4.AMP

I have a comment about those who are criticized for back loading the gospel. They would say that our performance and our works are not the basis upon which God declares someone to be righteous. They would say that living a holy life does not give a person a right standing before God. They say that everyone deserves eternal damnation no matter how hard people try to live a life that is pleasing to God.

@@gregorylatta8159 Its not mine to prove anyone repented. Repenting is changing one's mind. I cannot see the mind of anyone but myself- but Jesus' response was "today you will be with me in paradise"(the good side of the place for the dead). Only God has the ability to forgive sins, Jesus made the statement that this sinner, who at the current point and state of life (hanging on a cross, therefore unable to undo, change, rectify or correct any sin of his own doing) was going to be gathered with Jesus in paradise, a place for the righteous dead. Jesus could make such a claim for two reasons: 1, He was God (therefore able to forgive sin- God cannot tolerate sin, so a sinful, prideful person (like the other thief) would never be allowed into paradise- which until the moment of Jesus' death, all those residing in paradise did so with the grace that comes with having faith in the forthcoming savior- Jesus). 2, Jesus foreknew that he (Jesus) would die (therefore atone- take on the punishment for the thief) before the thief would die. The thief didn't have the grace of faith in the forthcoming savior, (Jesus) to rely on. He had the faith in the savior, Jesus, in his midst- both thieves had access to the same saving grace. Jesus was physically with both of them at the same time. One believed and was rewarded for his belief, one did not. Neither man hanging on the cross with Jesus that day could do anything other than believe or not believe. Neither could bargain, bet, or borrow their salvation. They could not earn it. At that point, Jesus wasn't even dead- let alone rose again. Yet, the thief believed. After Jesus' resurrection, certain disciples still weren't sure if they believed Jesus rose again. These are the same men who watched Jesus RAISE other people from the dead. Jesus' remark was you believe because you see, blessed are those who have not seen and still they believe.

Looking at the comments from people who disagree with faith alone; it is hard for man to accept that we do not have to work for salvation. They will say "work out your salvation" out of context and contradict the vast amount verses that say otherwise. Man will agree with every other religion in the world and think we must do something to save ourselves. Why can't we simply believe that Jesus was not lying in verses John 3:16, John 5:24, John 6:40, 6:28-29, 6:47? I think the main flaw in their thinking is they do not differentiate between salvation & discipleship.

Lordship salvation is the result of having the faith that saves. If we want to use God's grace as an excuse to sin, then good luck. The faith that save leads one to want to be transformed in the image of christ through the renewing of our minds, which results in us putting His will before our own, thus submitting to him, and making him Lord. No one truly changes their mind to trust in Christ unless they repent of their sin. Repentance is like the realisation that you're falling from a cliff and will die. Faith is like grabbing and trusting a branch that will stop you from falling. They go hand in hand.

Where in the bible can you find the words ..."Repent of your sins" ?
@fractalcabbage
@fractalcabbage Год назад
@@halcyon289 what is repentance? A change of mind. Sorrow. Turning. Those are words used throughout the Bible and translated as "repent" in English. Repentance is an act of contrition before God (like the tax collector in Luke 18) and describes recognition of sin, sorrow towards God for the offence and desperation at the realisation that one can do nothing to earn God's forgiveness. That desperation is what drives one to trust in Jesus as their only hope. So repentance and faith go together. What many people think repentance means is actually the fruit of repentance. If we sorrow for sin and it's offence to God then the simple conclusion is that we will seek to avoid sin. That follows repentance but it isn't repentance itself.

@@halcyon289 I really did. Try reading it again. Let's try it this way. Jesus said, "Unless you repent you shall all likewise perish." Presumably you believe repentance just means to "change your mind about Jesus?" That's a very simple way of defining it but let's explore what that means. To change my mind about Jesus and trust/believe in Him as my Saviour from sin means I need to understand what sin is and why I need to be saved from the consequences of it. So... changing my mind about Jesus is changing my mind about sin. No one changes their mind and believes in Jesus without first changing their mind about sin. Sin goes from being pleasing to being something we hate (Romans 7:15).

James taught that works are required for Salvation. Jesus also taught - No Works - No Salvation. “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” The Book Of Matthew The Book Of James 2:20-25 "Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.'And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?"

Then by your standard, we are all hypocrites. Because here’s the problem. Even born-again believers still sin even after they are saved because we still inhabit a fallen world. If you really want to stop sinning permanently, then you need your glorified body that comes after the Tribulation. To your point, good works are evidence of a changed life from being born again, but it’s not conclusive. Because an unbeliever can do the same good works as a believer and still end up in Hell (Matthew 7:21). Whether or not a person is truly saved is between them and the Lord.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon... that's biblical repentance.... Jesus preached the Gospel of the kingdom of God and we are to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness first. To understand the kingdom is to understand we are under the rule of the king, Lord now....if we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of his son Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.... Jesus also said,. And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.... that's speaking about us having fellowship with God and that's what eternal life salvation is all about. It's also speaking about our sins being cleansed but it is conditional our walk how we live matters....the son of man will send out his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. He who has ears to hear let him hear..... assuredly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.....mark this: unless you accept God's kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you will never get in.......

@robcrobert Malachi 3:6 I am the Lord your GOD I change not Hebrews13:8. Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever. It is the exact formula for salvation today. God loves humility. Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. I live with anyone who is not proud. I give new life to them. I give it to anyone who turns away from their sins. Repent in Greek means to change your mind. In Hebrew it means turn away from. Put the two together for the full meaning Change your mind and turn away from sin. Luke5:32 I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance [to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness].” Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard this, He said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness] What God wants is for all people to produce fruit to demonstrate genuine repentance by a change in your life from sin. (Acts 26:20) Only a person who has been convicted of sin with Godly sorrow will repent and believe in the gospel.If they aren't broken and repentant over their sins they certainly won't believe,since they have no desire to be made right with God.Only people that are convicted and a desire to be right with God will come to Jesus acknowledge sin by repenting. Repentance is the consequence of faith. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because YOUR SORROW LED YOU TO REPENTANCE. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 GODLY SORROW BRINGS REPENTANCE THAT LEADS TO SALVATION and leaves no regret, but WORLDLY SORROW BRINGS DEATH.

Lordship Salvation, means that we by the anointing of the Holy Spirit recognize Jesus for who He is and give Him the honor that He is due by surrendering to Him in obedience. He has earned it; He is worthy of it. Ultimately, this is how our walk with Christ should begin, by recognizing and confessing sin and that He is Lord. It's not adding works as proof, its a unquenchable desire for living for and pleasing Jesus. It's loving Him because He first loved us and gave himself for us. This is how salvation is obtained, by this very recognition Romans 10:9-10 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Free Grace easily understood from this piece on how Calvinist Parents are to teach their children about Lord Ship Salvation. We love you, little Johnny, but we accept the fact that God might not love you, and that He may have plans to send you to hell for your future sins. If you do find yourself one day burning in hell because He hasn’t elected to save you, just remember that we will always love you, even if God hates you. Take comfort knowing that we are not like God. We will be in heaven forever only because we were unconditionally chosen for salvation before we were born. That would be the only reason that we won’t be in hell with you if you find yourself there. It won’t be because of anything we did. So also take comfort in knowing that. It may not seem fair, but who are we to judge God? So again, if you find yourself in hell, remember that we will always love you as we forever worship the God who loved us but who hated you, the God who sent His Son to die for us but not for you. Please, we ask, don’t let it bother you-if you find yourself in hell-that we love the God who hated you and showed you no mercy. We must accept the fact that God is sovereign, and He does what He pleases. I know as Calvinists parents we should be more grateful for our own salvation! It’s like, ‘as long as our eternal destiny is secure, as long as our life is all planned out and taken care of by God, we shouldn’t give a damn about family, friends or anyone else!’ After all, the lost hate God because God first hated them. We as Calvinist parents should hate what god hates, but it is so hard, because we can’t help but love you little Johnny and our families and neighbours! John Calvin Institutes proof texts: “ God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction.( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6 “…salvation is freely offered to some while others are barred from access to it.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5) “We call predestination God’s eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition; rather, eternal life is fore-ordained for some, eternal damnation for others.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5) “…we say that God once established by his eternal and unchangeable plan those whom he long before determined once for all to receive into salvation, and those whom, on the other hand, he would devote to destruction…he has barred the door of life to those whom he has given over to damnation.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 7) “The devil, and the whole train of the ungodly, are in all directions, held in by the hand of God as with a bridle, so that they can neither conceive any mischief, nor plan what they have conceived, nor how muchsoever they may have planned, move a single finger to perpetrate, unless in so far as he permits, nay unless in so far as HE COMMANDS, that they are not only bound by his fetters but are even FORCED to do him service” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 1, Chapter 17, Paragraph 11) John Piper states it plainly: Quote from John Piper: "God . . . brings about all things in accordance with his will. In other words, it isn’t just that God manages to turn the evil aspects of our world to good for those who love him; it is rather that he himself brings about these evil aspects for his glory (see Ex. 9:13-16; John 9:3) and his people’s good (see Heb. 12:3-11; James 1:2-4). This includes-as incredible and as unacceptable as it may currently seem-God’s having even brought about the Nazis’ brutality at Birkenau and Auschwitz as well as the terrible killings of Dennis Rader and even the sexual abuse of a young child . . . Galatians 1:8-9 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! A search for "Free Grace Theology" will reveal for and against this teaching. I'll just take one of Charlie's examples, "repentance." While Bing uses the simple definition found in Gen. 6:6-7 as a change of mind. There is way more to it than someone changing their mind; "true repentance is a godly sorrow for sin, an act of turning around and going in the opposite direction. In Jesus' preaching of the kingdom of God is seen as the truth that repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin: by repentance, one turns away from sin; by faith, one turns toward God in accepting the Lord Jesus Christ. True repentance is required of ALL of those who desire to follow Christ and make Him LORD of their lives and is turning from wickedness and dead works (Acts 8:22; Heb. 6:1) toward God and His glory (Acts 20:21; Rev. 16:9), eternal life (Acts 11:18), and knowledge of the truth (2 Tim. 2:25). Bing misrepresents Lordship Salvation and redefines the terms. Free Grace theology is cheap grace theology also known as easy believism. To believe Free Grace Theology would mean having to disregard all the writings of the Puritans, who wrote and preached Lordship Salvation; they just didn't call it that. Dietrich Bonhoeffer's magnum opus, "The Cost of Discipleship" is an excellent resource against this "grace theology."

Repentance (metanoia in the greek) is simply defined as a change of mind, in ancient greek literature it is used as a common work for changing your mind, and unless the context demands it, there is no reason in scripture to believe that this always means to "turn from sin" in fact aside from the commonly quoted passage in 2 Corinthians which is dealing with saved believers reconciling with on another, I don't know of another place where sorrow is associated with repentance in the new testament, especially not in the areas where it is speaking on eternal life and forgiveness of sins. Your proof texts are all just taken out of their original context. Take Heb 6:1 for example "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God," If you look at the context this is speaking about changing the minds of the reader from their dead religious works, speaking of the old jewish traditions and changing your mind to have faith toward God. We can go through each proof text if you want, but you are in effect adding a necessary work "penitent sorrow of sins" as a prerequisite to salvation, whereas Jesus said "whosoever beleiveth in me hath everlasting life." plain and simple. Also see 1 Cor 15:1-5

@@isanyoneelseheretoday My "proof-texting" came from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, under the keyword - repentance. I suggest contacting the editors and telling them they defined the word repentance incorrectly. Oh, and while you are at it, contact all the publishers of Puritan writings and tell them the Puritans also took the word repentance out of context. Let us know how it turns out. Free Grace theology is another destructive heresy and we wonder why the Christian church is in such disarray today. It's because Christian denominations do not preach the entirety of Scripture and in the meaning, God intended. If anyone reading this thread performs a search for the term "free grace theology" they will see many call it heresy.

@@dennis69phd who cares what the Nelsons illustrated Bible dictionary defines repentance as if the actual Greek word means something else? Who cares what the puritans wrote on repentance if they didn't understand what was being said in the actual text There's nothing wrong about having contrition and sorrow over your sins, and that is a natural feeling to have when you realize the transaction that took place by Jesus on your behalf, but to call it necessary to receive eternal life and forgiveness of sins is not biblical. Jesus said believe on me, Peter said change your mind (metanoia) and believe, Paul said you must keep in memory unless you believed in vain that Christ died and rose again. None of them enforce a contrition or penitence over your sin to receive forgiveness of it.

To repent is to change one’s mind. It can be about anything. What the Lordship crowd is doing is incorporating sin in the word repentance. Sin is not embedded in the word repentance. You have to get the context what the person is repenting from. Sin can be one of the objects of repentance but not always. Example: Mango is a fruit, but not all fruits are mangoes. What the Lordship crowd is saying is, fruits are mangoes only, repentance refers to sin only. They are embedding sin into the word repent. Sin is not embedded in the word repent.

repent does mean change your mind to christ but does not mean change your mind ''about your sins '' unless it says repent ''of your sins' not just repent alone , which the kjv never says repent OF YOUR SINS regarding salvation !! repent AND believe the gospel is not repent of your sins and believe the gospel, , its change your mind about christ and believe what he did for us nothing to do with sin or behavior!!

@wolfwatchers What is the one thing that God wants you to change your mind about? The only thing that will keep you eternally separated from Him. Sin. Up until a few decades ago every preacher preached that it meant of sins. Even though kj doesn't say of sins its impossible to not understand that ot means of sin. If all we had to do is make a claim of belief then no reason for Jesus,John the Baptist Peter and Paul to ever say repent. They would've said believe instead. Whenever forgiveness of sin is mentioned repent precedes it not believe. Jesus told us to preach repentance to the world. Unbelief is a sin but not the only one.

@wolfwatchers Repentance means that you realize that you are a guilty vile sinner in the presence of God,that you deserve the wrath and punishment of God. That you are hell bound. It means that you begin to realize that this thing called sin is in you and that you long to get rid of it,and that you turn your back on it in every shape and form you renounce the world,whatever the cost,the world in its mind and outlook as well as its practices and you deny yourself and take up your cross and go after Christ. Your nearest and dearest and the whole world may call you a fool or say you have religious mania. You may have to suffer financially, but it makes no difference. That is repentance. It becomes an ongoing way of life. The repentance that starts at salvation starts a progressive lifelong process of confessing sin. 1 John 1:9 we go on confessing our sin. The active continuous attitude of repentance produces the poverty of the spirit,the mourning, the meekness that characterizes true believers in the Beatitudes of Matthew 5. Repentance produces a new way of life,not just a different opinion of Christ,a new way of life. Those who heard Jesus preach knew what He was calling for. He wasn't asking them just to change their opinion about Him. They knew what Isaiah said when Isaiah preached. This is what Isaiah 1:16 says:wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight,stop doing wrong.17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.18 "Come now, let us settle the matter", says the Lord."Though your sins are like scarlet,they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson,they shall be like wool. If you wash yourselves,if you make yourselves clean the progression begins internally and then manifests itself in attitudes and actions. Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the Lord while He may be found,call ye upon him while He is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way,and the unrighteous man his thought:and let him return unto the Lord,and he will have mercy on him;and to our God,for He will abundantly pardon. He'll pardon when the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man forsakes his thoughts and turns to the Lord. 2 Chronicles 7:14 IF my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS then I will hear from heaven and FORGIVE THEIR SINS and heal their land. call ye upon him while He is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way,and the unrighteous man his thought:and let him return unto the Lord,and he will have mercy on him;and to our God,for He will abundantly pardon. @@2Chronicles714_ change your mind about him silly!!!! christ blood and my faith dealt with the sin that separated us now by faith we are imputed the righteousness of christ not of our own , they say repent because everyone they come across including you and me before they trusted/ believed in christ trusted in something else first Wrather that's our selves or a whole myriad of false gods or our own ability's to follow law, etc we turn from that (repent )and believe in Christ! you must first turn from whatever to christ, nothing to do with sins friend , our belief in christ and what he did for us Justifies us imputes Christs righteousness to us seals us and puts us in the family fully right with a holy God by his stripes not mine!!

@@fractalcabbage : It is important for correct interpretation to understand why a Bible book has been written and to whom it has been written to. 1 John is written to eternally saved people, the purpose is not knowing how to have eternal life, that is the purpose of the gospel of John. @@golightly5121 I never said it was a book about knowing how to be saved. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I questioned why the guy in the video was confused at someone describing 1 John as a test of salvation, which is essentially what it is. John describes truths and errors pertinent to assessing one's spiritual state. They're akin, although far less detailed, to the attributes of the "blessed" that Jesus describes in the Beatitudes.

You don’t have to submit yourself to His lordship or mastership or whatever.. He already is Lord and Master. Free Grace vs Lordship Salvation is a false dilemma. You are initiated into “discipleship upon believing.
