You mentioned Heart of Winter being strong against everything, but that's not completely true. When you read the tooltip, you could think that it deals the same high damage against any unit, but unfortunately the tooltip doesn't explain how it works too well. The spell can hit up to 25 models per unit and it only deals as much damage as on the tooltip when hitting all 25 models. Heart of Winter Phase 1: 2 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 2: 4 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 3: 6 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 4: 8 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit total: 160 dmg to up to 25 models per unit (=4000hp of units with 25 models or more) Heart of Winter Upgraded Phase 1: 3 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 2: 6 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 3: 9 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit Phase 4: 12 dmg/s to up to 25 models per unit total: 240 dmg to up to 25 models per unit (=6000hp of units with 25 models or more)
In the campaign, Katarin can get Ice Sheets down to 0 winds, so she can constantly cast it to keep the Frost Shields up permanently. She can also cast it together with Death Frost to prevent enemies from escaping.
I first thought tempest is stronger, but the longer i played i really liked ice. The very cheep aoe slow is amazing. and the later potential is great too
Personally, I rate Tempest over Ice, because the raw damage from Tempest is better. Tempest has a great set of buffs for Ranged units, but Ice has better defensive buffs. Another problem I have is that Ice is too expensive, unless it's Katarin using it. Too many of their spells have well over 13-15 Wind spells at their max level, and with the very limited magic reserves in TWWIII, it's counter productive. That being said, if you can get Heart of Winter off, and Crystal Sancturary off on an Overcast, it's devastating.
@@ColonelDamneders This is something confusing to me because not all of the spells say who is affected. Which Lore of Ice/Tempest spells will not injure allies?
How do the spells stack? E.g. if I have two Frost Maidens of Ice and they both cast Death Frost on the enemy lord simultaneously - will the enemy Lord be taking full damage from both spells?
