Good for you and Charles. This has to be heard in it's entirety for full impact. This work is historic and groundbreaking, perhaps the best released last year. Thanks David for doing such a long reaction and giving something this different a listen!

No problem in not being a fan. I noticed there isn't much harsh vocals on the channel. I've transitioned almost completely into heavy vocals and I think that when/if you open up to them, you can appreciate their nuances. There's a lot to them, and the passion in their expression is totally off the scale. That's what keeps me on that side and not looking back. Thanks to the requester and to you David. I admire your exploring of a newer territory with an open mind. It was super interesting to hear your take on this whole thing. Cheers.

Always love your straightforward honesty brother, nothing wrong with not enjoying the vocals! I grew up on Nightwish, never enjoyed harsh vocals. I ended up seeing Lorna in October and it was incredible, one of my favorite bands now. I guess it grows on ya 😅 say pspsps to your cat for me

I used to hate harsh vocals. I loved the music though so I kept listening. Then one day it just clicked, I love well done harsh vocals now as well.

_"You would think this is going to be a long review. Believe it or not I don't think it's gonna be. I see the review being under 10 minutes"_ Cut to the review that lasts 20 minutes. 😁 An epic reaction & review for a Metal epic. Great way to start the new year, right? 🤘 So, you like the chyron credits I added, huh? Haha! Thanks! I actually add that to all the videos I upload to my channels and the ones that I requested you react to. Funny that you only noticed it now. 😄 Like go back to your reaction to "Lost Child (2017 Remix)" by Bursters here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QVXMHTJ4tXE.html and you'll see the same kind of chyron credit at the start and end for that Burster's music video. I wanted to do it like the old MTV days with their chyron credits, you know? Oh, and about the ending credits, believe it or not, that actually took me some time to do. The original videos for each part of "Pain Remains" had separate credits that credited different people. Everybody involved was not in any single credit for each part. So because I edited all 3 parts together, I decided I would also take time to recreate the credits in the original style they were in to get everyone's name in one credit. So I'm glad you didn't skip over that! 🙂 I totally enjoyed the show cause you gave the best breakdown on the musical aspect of this piece I have seen. Some might be a little taken a back you weren't talking about or reacting to what was happening in the video but you certainly made up for it with your insights and discussion on what was happening musically in the whole trilogy. That was for sure worth it. Another thing that was worth it was seeing you notice and talk about how the transitions were handled from the end of one part to the start of the next part. Originally I was thinking about just giving you each separate official youtube link but their abrupt endings made me think otherwise. Some can see those abrupt endings as symbolic of death but for someone like you who is very focused on the music it was much more important for you to experience it all as one. So I'm very happy to see that you were able to appreciate that part as well! That made the work I did to put all the 3 videos together so that they can run seamlessly all worth it. 🙂 I'm like you with Deathcore in that there is a lot that I've heard I don't care for as it many times can get close to dissonance but there is some Deathcore that I like. This whole trilogy from Lorna Shore I felt was doing something different. I'm not an expert in Deathcore but it seems to me that this wasn't the usual Deathcore track. One thing I noticed was that it wasn't strictly Deathcore though. Like this trilogy mixes in elements of Symphonic Metal which I think really helped give the sonics another dimension than what I usually have heard in Deathcore. It allowed them to go for those emotions that they were aiming for. And yeah, "Pain Remains Trilogy" may not be something that'll be a favorite on a lot of people's playlists but I don't think that was the intention behind it. It is in general a fantastic work from everybody that deserves the attention it's gotten. I wonder if this will move Deathcore further along and into more directions sonically. It'll be interesting to see what impact "Pain Remains Trilogy" will have on that genre. As I was watching I felt that Will Ramos' vocals were going to affect the score for you. Personally I feel they work in the context of a piece like this. I love listening to Metalcore, so I enjoy a good screamer but there are some screamers that can sound too harsh for my ears. But despite how intense he can get, surprisingly with Will I didn't actually mind him here. I think his impressive ability to do a lot of variations of his screams helped a lot which you did acknowledge. The only downside to it is that many times he can be totally unintelligible which for a trilogy like this that is very much expressing a lot of emotions it is important to know the words he is screaming as he is screaming them. Hence me also wanting to subtitle the lyrics onto the video. Me subtitling the lyrics line by line got me to get to know Will's screaming style very well. 😄 Thanks for the great video, David! I really enjoyed it! 🤘

I can understand you not liking Will Ramos's vocal style, it is pretty harsh, but so is the theme of this trilogy of songs, I don't often listen to Death Metal or many bands with this style of vocals, but Lorna Shore are the exception to prove the rule. I have listenedd to the album a few times with the lyrics pulled up online and reading the songs as full pieces rather than line by line you understand just how good the lyrics are. Will has a very diverse song phrasing and feel, it is perfect for The Pain Remains

Haha. That breakdown got your attention. 😆 This trilogy only has one breakdown. Their other songs can have as many as THREE of them. This trilogy is extremely melodic (for these guys). I prefer their other songs personally but I can appreciate this a lot. I think the second song is my fav of these three.

The way Will sings "The world will burn in my fall from grace" reminds me of Angela Gossow in Arch Enemy with the song "Skeleton Dance". Such a beast of a song. She goes "My frozen hour of death" in the same way. Chills, just chills!

A little info on the lead singer Will Ramos he has asthma and yet can sing as amazingly deep with his grit & growl. I know this cause of an interview he did on YT and he himself said that he had it. 🎉 love the reaction you’ll have to check out there song To The Hell Fire & …And I Return to Nothingness

Will Ramos (pronounced Ray Mose) is probably the best harsh vocalist I've ever heard. I'm with you on too much harsh, however, I can really appreciate this talent in this area. The is a song where he is Smeagal and it blows me away. BTW, Elizabeth from the Charismatic voice had Will Ramos meet them at doctors office to put a camera down his throat and do various types of harsh vocals. Very interesting!@!!~ and helps me create a connection with him to appreciate him more. OPERATION: "Throat Camera". Will Ramos of Lorna Shore scoped while he performs harsh vocals! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ua8SuWNPrLE.html

This trilogy is very impactful and impressive to a huge audience, but… David is initially not the "target" audience for this type of music. First of all he doesn`t really care for Videography and this piece of Work heavily relies on the "cinema". Second - he likes that growling vocals only as a Part of an overall vocal picture, not being the Whole picture itself. So there were minor chances that he would get too excited about Lorna Shore material. The fact that he gave this trilogy such high (in his book) score - only proves that David tries to separate his own subjective impression of the material from objective points he can find within the Music he encounters.... I was glad David mentioned that for Grit&Growl style - this band has a great vocalist. Because in this specific niche - Will Ramos - is a force of Nature. He embodies almost all the vocal possibilities in terms of what you can do with this “guttural” approach and I take my hat off to Will for being this masterful and dedicated to his art.... And the last thing - can Will sing “normally”? Does he have a singing voice? Yes. He has. There are clips on RU-vid where he lets himself do things on his own, not in the Lorna Shore concept. But this Band as a Unit is very precise in every detail. And their vision what they are and what they do not include “clear” vocals. That’s their idea of their Art. Would it be better if they did change from growl to cleans and back time after time? No idea. I am sure it would sound good anyway, no matter what, as they are all skillful musicians. But my guess that Lorna Shore is a conceptual band and they will always stay true to any Idea they have.

Deathcore vocals aren’t very melodic but usually grit and growl pretty much all the time in my experience (I’m new to this style of music). If you want some traditional singing mixed in I would recommend more Killswitch Engage which you’ve reacted to before. Maybe their song “Reject Yourself” or “In Due Time”

This had to be taken all at once. They released each part individually and each track ended and started abruptly, similar to hearing Dark Side of the Moon tracks on the radio back in the day. Much better going from one track to the next.
