I cannot describe how pissed off I was upon hearing that the victims' families sued the Australian government. That's absolutely preposterous.

How can they sue Australia when they jumped in a non seaworthy boat with way too many people aboard from a different country. Australians tried to save them.

It's always horrible to lose someone, especially in such gruesome ways, but I think losing someone on a special day like a birthday or holiday is another level. Last weekend, a 2 year old girl drowned in a town just next to mine. She somehow left her house in the evening without her mother noticing. Her body was found after 3 days in the river not far from the house. This would be horrible at any time but just knowing that the parents probably still have wrapped Christmas presents for their daughter that she'll never get to open makes it even worse.

They were carrying illegal immigrants, boarded a rinky-dink piece of crap boat that wouldn't be safe in a kiddie pool, drove into rough seas, and then tried to say it was the Australian government's fault. Unbelievable. Does anyone take responsibility and accountability anymore?

How on earth is it the Australian government’s fault that people choose to try and get into the country illegally, in a tiny boat, covertly and get people killing doing just that? That was the choice of the people on board.

I appreciate you finding stories that haven’t had as much coverage. I hadn’t heard of the explosion on Jersey island or the Christmas Island capsizing.

I feel terrible for everyone mentioned, but I feel especially bad for the poor man who had to read the airplane terrorist's messages, was killed because the plane wasn't allowed to take off, and then the plane was allowed to take off after all. It just feels like insult to injury.

I was nearly at that market in Berlin at the Gedächtniskirche. It was the first time I visited my hometown in 20+ years. My friend had asked me to go, but I was so homesick for my family in the US that I didn't feel like going. My friend was standing not 30ft away when it happened. She is legally blind and that saved her from having to view the carnage, she just heard the screams.

The last story reminds me of the Waukesha Wisconsin Christmas parade tragedy from a few years ago.

A Christmas tragedy happened this week in Belgium. Due to the storm and other unknown causes I guess, a Christmas tree at a Christmas market fell down. A few people were injured, but tragically a 60 yo woman died from it.

My heart goes out to all those affected by the devastating losses on Christmas. In these moments of grief, let's remember the importance of love, support, and cherishing the time we have with our loved ones. Wishing strength and comfort to everyone enduring this difficult time.

My own tragedy, one week before Christmas, December 18, 1975, after working a full day , my daddy returned home and suffered a third and fatal heart attack on our living room floor.😢 I was only twelve years old. Merry Christmas Daddy. I miss you more and more each passing year. Until we are united again, I love you. Thank you for the most memorable childhood anyone can ever ask for. You were the BEST FATHER anyone wish they had.😓

I was living just down the road from where the explosion happened in St Helier. I lived in Bagot, and we actually felt the blast. I don't think I've ever witnessed that amount of chaos on the island before. My thoughts are with the victim's families.

My dad's birthday was December 24th. He died in January due to an overdose due to the start of the opioid epidemic in the states. His doctor prescribed him oxytocin for his back injury he got at work. He took it every way he could. Sold everything he could to get his next fix. My mom and dad were divorced and I was with my mom at the time. I got home from school and my mom, step dad, and the sheriff were there when I walked in. The sheriff told me he was announced DOA and he was sorry he had to tell me since they had no other way to contact me. He died in another part of the state. Now Xmas eve brings back those memories every single year. Memories are powerful folks... Powerful enough to replace happy memories with sadness. After he died I stopped caring about Xmas. All it is now is a dark part of my life.

My uncle just passed away two days ago and its hard to smile at christmas now but i'll raise a glass and remember all the good times and parties we had when i was younger and my heart goes out to anyone else who has lost any family this year, Thank you for the video and Merry Christmas to the whole world

The thought of someone being so devoid of humanity that they would kill a truck driver then take the lives of innocents by crashing into a market with the same truck for no reason whatsoever baffles me. The idea of humanity being able to do whatever is both a blessing and a curse as seen there and it resulted in so many innocent people dying and families losing those closest to them on one of the most beloved holidays to spend time with family with. May those who died in that horrible act of terrorism and everybody else in the videos rest in peace.

I lost my Grand mother earlier today on Christmas eve. so I can somewhat relate to the people who lost their love one on the eve/Christmas day.

Sometimes tragedy creeps up, and there you are before you know it. In 2004 I lost my younger brother to complications brought on by cystic fibrosis. In 2005 my mom died from filling up with fluid in her body. In 2008 I had a badly botched back surgery leaving me retired at 54 and disabled with terrible pain I couldn’t take any pain meds for as I’m allergic. In 2015 we discovered my dad had dementia. Before I knew, he had remortgaged our family’s home with only 2 years left on the mortgage taking our house payment to over $1000 a month. In 2021 my dad passed away with no mortgage insurance on the house. I had to sell our home of 50 years and move into a redone mobile home. It wasn’t redone so well as it took a good bit of the small insurance policy my dad left me. Now I live over 50 miles from friends, family all dead and gone in a mobile home it costs most of my income to keep up. Tragedy strikes, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly but inevitably.

You do an excellent job of really bringing the humanity to the tragedies you cover; I seriously get tears in my eyes during many of the tellings. Thanks for doing these so respectfully and well. 8/8/24.

I live in Berlin and I was there when the truck crashed into the Christmas market. It was incredibly terrible and the Christmas market there has never been as wonderful as before. 😢

For many years I lived with mom and she always made Christmas dinner, now that I'm in a living facility, I can finally learn to cook a Christmas dinner with the help of staff and invited mom for this Christmas. I want to show my mom that she matters and I love her! 😊 I am affraid that anytime something bad can happen like the videos here being watched 😢

While incredibly devastating, the class action lawsuit against NSW is the dumbest thing I’ve heard of. And half my family literally came on boats to Australia. They knew the risks of illegally taking a boat to Australia, and while the Australian government has a duty to human life, they did what they could with the circumstances. Also, not all the people coming on boats are great people, that’s just fact. My aunt, who was a child on one of these refugee boats, witnessed a gangr*pe of a women on the boat by a bunch of men. No one could do anything about it, as they threatened to throw the women and children off the boat, so people just pretended not to see it… Obviously there are people trying to get a better life, and doing that illegally comes with consequences.

I was losing my sh*t during the plane hijacking story, because I thought it was going to turn out badly for innocent people. Now I'm amazed at the brilliance of the "SWAT" team. How did they know who to shoot amongst all of the smoke and chaos? Just brilliant!!

In our neighborhood gas was smelled and everyone was evaluated just in case. From only one house the fact is gas is coming from somewhere 2 days it was located & fixed. I can't believe people would have just stayed, not their fault but the smell is terrible how'd they not get sick is crazy

My dad’s little brother (uncle to me) was suffering from some mysterious mental deterioration (like dementia or Alzheimer’s) on Christmas Eve in 2022. He was sixty. He ended up having a fall at a family Christmas Eve party; it wasn’t the impact that would end up taking him away several days later. He fell into a bonfire. His burns would end up rendering him brain dead and his life support was shut off by one of his siblings. My dad wasn’t able to get to the hospital in time and thus couldn’t say goodbye. Rest in peace

When I was a young girl in Lorain Ohio, a natural gas explosion that left a crater where a house had been made a huge impression on me. I don't live in a building that has natural gas. Nope. The body count is too high for me.

I think the incident in Jersey Island Energy should have done a better job with investigating that gas. For the incident in Berlin I do believe Anis did get his justice served even though cop shot him they caught him at least for fighting back. The Christmas Island incident the captain should have planned it out more accordingly. Knowing that there would be strong winds with huge waves.

What are they doing all the way at Christmas Island if they were going from Iraq to Iran ?

A second cousin just passed away today. We weren't close but it's still sad. She was in her early 40s and healthy. She just suddenly started vomiting and complaining of extreme headaches. When they took her to the hospital, she slipped into a colma and died shortly. Please keep her in your thoughts for her family. I and i know many others, feel gloomy and lonely during this season. Please keep us and everybody in your thoughts and check up on everybody to see how they're doing.

The second and last stories are without a doubt the most revolting. Terrorism is the lowest level a human being can achieve and Europe should protect itself against people with this mentality instead of welcoming them because it's politically correct.

I used to live in Newman, West Australia, right up in the Pilbara region. Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin on Christmas Eve 1974, and remains one of the most destructive in Australia's history. Wind gusts hit 217km/hr before the wind gauge was destroyed. We woke up on Christmas day to the sight of a completely flattened Darwin, with christmas paper and presents strewn everywhere. Never seen anything like it and it haunts me to this day.
