The construction in the Stockton portion is now completed, so now there are carpool lanes on I-5. Also, the freeway portion of Highway 4 was expanded, so it doesn't end at Fresno Avenue, but instead at Navy Drive (still has port access).
Great Video. Thanks for the Adventure from L.A. through the Valley and to Sacramento. I was hoping for music you could have had the Eagles "Take it Easy and some other 1960's, 70's and even some random 80's music. However, my question was answered that I-5 is also a Long stretch of highway. I-99 is similar only You pass by through some more towns. Thanks for sharing.
Just drove to LA just last week and the entire distance from Sacramento to the greatvine is all smoke you can hardly see the mountain range to your right
It's not smog, it's the marine layer from the ocean. Typical summer coast weather. Smog does not form in the morning as it's not hot enough to create smog. Many people make that mistake. I lived in Orange County and most of the smog in the afternoon stays mostly in the L.A. basin and inland empire. I actually breathed much better living near the coast and had no allergies until I left.
Hey Barbiepoledancer can you do a Las Vegas Nevada to Elk Grove California Then do a Elk Grove California to Fresno California by taking the 99 South and North freeway?? Please Reply
Good job not hogging the left lane. I-5, I-10 and the 101 are the only freeways with two lanes and it should be that way. The cities/regions extending the lanes only creates congestion.

So, YOU are that other driver in CA that knows how to use the passing lane!!! :) I've made this drive MANY times and it REALLY sucks unless you gots the good beats.
Right not just camping in the fast lane only getting in it to pass slower traffic. I wish more people would do that. Sadly we have many drivers who just sit in the left lane going to slow forcing cars to pass on the right.
Why didn't you take the 99? You would have gone through every major central valley city if you just took the 99...right on up to the capital of the golden state. Real missed opportunity there. I wonder why you decided to take the I-5. Was it traffic? Time constraints? Another video exists with the 99 in it?
Me and a buddy went camping out on the delta when we were younger. We stopped at a grocery store on charter way to grab supplies only to come back and find a homeless guy sleeping in our boat. 😨 we were coming from Sacramento and we had to exit charter way to get to the campsite
