Welcome to this cab ride video featuring the newest metro line: the K line! This video is from Los Angeles Metro, featuring the Northbound ride on the K line, from Westchester to Expo/Crenshaw. It takes about 20 minutes end to end, however long stops at traffic lights have been cut out for you to enjoy the video more! There are currently 7 stops on the K line as of June 2024, however there are several expansions planned, first to LAX, then it will extend past Redondo Beach as part of the South Bay extension project. In about a decade, the K line is supposed to extend north to the Hollywood/Highland B line station and maybe even the Hollywood Bowl! The line features a mix of underground, at-grade, and above-ground flyover sections, making it a unique line with several grades. Holy sh$t!!! A guy jumped onto the tracks in front of the train just as it pulled into the last station! Luckily it was going slow.

Best video I've seen for the whole route on the K line. It's good to see that the above ground stations have actual gates and not just validators like on the older LRT lines. They need to retrofit those stations with gates. Looks like the line has signal prioritization except in the LA section, where it stopped twice. I know that LADOT is the agency that is responsible for traffic lights in LA and not LA Metro. They need to get LADOT on board with giving all LRT lines signal prioritization, especially before the Olympics come to town. Wow, I was completely shocked when that guy jumped on the tracks. I rewound the video, and he's nowhere to be seen on the platform when the train first arrives and then, all of a sudden, he's running to get in front of the train and jumps in front of it, and the conductor slams on the brakes. I believe he was trying to commit suicide. So sad. People have speculated that both the LRTs and especially the subway train now approach the station platforms slower than when they first went into operation to avoid people committing suicide.
