LOST MY BEST FRIEND!~ "The Doomsday Option" GOOD OMENS 1x05 REACTION! 

i adore how aziraphale "breaks up" with crowley, he leaves kind bummed but still opens his version of a travels guide to find a place for them to run away together. Then things escalates, he goes back to aziraphale like "im sorry now get in the car, we are leaving" then aziraphale "breaks up" with him again and he flies off in a fit yelling how he is gonna be so happy on his own. Things escalates EVEN MORE, he kills demons, and he AGAIN goes searching for Aziraphale but noo, aziraphale is dead?? screw everything, im gonna drink while the world ends--- wait aziraphale is not dead!! :D where are you im coming!!

My attention is primarily focused on Aziraphale and Crowley but I just realized that Pepper and Adam must have switched bikes! Pepper complained about having a “girl bike with a basket” and that she wanted a cool bike. Now Adam is using the one with the basket for Dog. That’s such a nice detail

The moment when you realise Aziraphale and Crowley are basically live action versions of Stolas and Blitzo respectively

Note that when Crowley finds the bookshop on fire, he genuinely thinks Aziraphale is dead. Even though it’s not easy to k!ll an angel or a demon, remember that Aziraphale’s body got discorporated and the rest went straight to heaven - which means Crowley couldn’t FEEL his presence on Earth anymore. This, the fire and the fact that he knew heaven and hell are gonna go after them, lead to one logical conclusion - Azi has been k!lled. And their last conversation was basically an argument :(( took me a sec to realise how heartbroken Crowley actually must’ve been.

For a while I was wondering why Crowley thought Aziraphale was “dead dead” (for lack of a better term) but maybe he could sense the ritual he performed to go to heaven and thought the flames were hellfire flames because of it? Idk, I can’t think of anything else🤷‍♀️

Fun fact from the Book: Any music Crowley's car plays will eventually turn into music from Queen. So while Highway to hell would have been awesome, it would not have lasted.

For the almighty algorithm

The bit that gets me is when Crowley is in the pub after the fire in the bookshop. His best friend/soulmate is gone and he is just waiting for the end of the world. He has given up. When Azi appears and he says, "I lost my best friend" his eyes fill with tears and his bottom lip wobbles. Makes me fill up EVERY TIME. 💔💔😭😭

I'm sad that they cut the totally normal biker gang that in the books got caught up in the Four Horsemen's shenanigans in this episode. Really Cool People, Grievous Bodily Harm, Cruelty to Animals, and Skuzz were hilarious.

Fun fact: David Tennant wore demon eyes contacts for every scene he is in, even in those where he wears glasses. You can see them then you turn the brightness up.

The quote from the book about what happens when Adam screams is: "Something drained away. Adam's head tilted down again. His eyes opened.

The existential statment of the century: "Arsenic is forever"

The scene of Crowley in the bookshop is a little longer in the official script book “Right. I’m done. I’ve had it. I don’t care about any bloody angels or humans or anyone. I hate you all. Somebody killed my best friend, and I don’t even care who did it. Bastards, all of you.” It also explicitly mentions he’s on the verge of tears.

Agnes Nutter’s prophecy about the riders came true in this episode if you remember it:

Something that gets left out of the miniseries but is in the book, and why the soundtrack is so Queen-heavy, is a statement that a cassette* left in a car, no matter what it was, will eventually turn into a Queen tape. IIRC, the minimum time span was a fortnight, 2 weeks.

About Dog leaving Adam. Crowley mentions that when Adam names the hellhound it would give it its purpose and role. Like if he called it Throatripper, that would be his purpose as well as name. So when Adam names him Dog, that’s his purpose, he is a Dog. Just a normal dog. That’s why his powers don’t work the way they used to and why he’s finding pleasure in regular dog behavior. So more and more of the evil in him burns away. So when Adam comes into his power, his companion is just a scared dog not a loyal demon of Hell.

Crowley's Bentley and Aziraphale's bookshop are basically secondary characters. I got emotional for both of them, too. I really encourage you to read the book someday, too. It's not got everything the series has since Neil Gaiman wrote all the flashbacks from Aziraphale's and Crowley's history together from scratch but it's so damn funny.

I think the bookshop is sad partly because it is the symbol for "home" in the series, and "home" is a powerful archetype for every person, though it looks different to each of us. "Home", ideally, is where we belong, where we're safe, where we can be ourselves. It was Crowley and Aziraphale's home; now they're each other's home.
