Why the hell did people downvote this video? the guide is actually extremely helpful, it is short, concise and to the point... thank you for the tip on adding lockers to the Cyclops, I never knew that was even possible
Great guide, very well done. Here’s what i did for prep for the lost river. I didn’t use the cyclops as the ghost will wreck it and the other mobs will wreck it as well. I would just go in with a prawn suit with the grapple arm and jet upgrade. And for the lava zone bring enough for a base, fabricator, thermal plant and a hatch. Like I said you don’t have to bring your cyclops down there, I have my prawn suit with hull reinforcements
Honestly I think I’ve found my new favourite RU-vidr. You’ve helped me: start, get a cuddlefish (alien containment) and finish. I’m setting stuff up right now. Yet again thank you so much, 10/10 RU-vidr and I’m sharing to my friends :)
I have a favorite YTber for each game I play. Granddaddy is my favorite for subnautica. I’m actually thinking about checking out some of the other games he plays to see if I might enjoy them. 😂😂😂
This (and all your guides) are incredibly helpful. I've been playing this game for a few months casually and just hit the mid game bit. So using the outside grow beds for the things that grow in the deep is a great idea. Gotta say, you've given me some great food for thought with your guides so thank you very much!
Fun fact: if you don't bring all the hatching enzyme ingredients with you, the teleportation arches off of the sides of the antechamber to the primary containment unit each lead to one of the biomes where those plants can be found. You don't have to go all the way back out through the lost river to get them - you can just teleport to each biome and then back to primary containment. And yes, you can go through the teleporter in the prawn suit, although I have had it glitch and get stuck in one of the caves, so I recommend saving frequently. The only ingredient without a teleportation arch is the sea crown, which, as the video says, you can find inside of primary containment. You can actually also find sea crown down in the grassy plateau caves (not the same as jellyshroom cave) but they are very rare. I think there are only like 7 sea crowns in the game. I also second the pop-up base strategy, especially with a bioreactor as the power source. Having a way to stop anywhere and set up a powered mini base takes all the stress out of exploring in the cyclops. If you burn through all your power cells escaping from a leviathan, you can just stop in a safe place and recharge. I like to add a scanner room to mine so I can visit a resource-rich area, collect a bunch of materials, store everything in lockers in the cyclops, and then pack up the base and keep exploring.
a tip for gel sacks, you need it to hit 3 times to get 3 seeds, but if you hit it 2 times you get the seeds and the gel sack. So if you need the gel sack for something you can hit it 2 times first to get the seeds and use the gel sack.
How ironic, your video comes precisely at the time I’m looking at buffing up my Cyclops to move to the Lost River 😂😂 people rave about the Cove Tree being a nice spot to set up base, but apart from that one room and story progression, I find the Bulb Zone or Grand Reef more attractive overall! Keep it up with the awesome content!
Fun fact in jelly shroom cave there is a pda that randomly spawns around will tell you where degassi base is in the grand reef also degassi final base is close to lost river entrance so the easier way is to search for it though beware sometimes it doesn't spawn in one of my runs I couldn't find it.
I tried to go to the Lost River for the first time today and the Ghost Leviathan almost destroyed my cyclops. Definitely going to come back to this video so I am better prepared next time.
Hi, relatively new Subnautica player here. I completed the story for the very first time a couple months ago, and now I'm playing again because I love it so much!! Just fyi ... you do NOT have to travel "all the way back to the surface" for materials for the hatching enzymes. If you activate all the portals in the primary containment facility (one in each corner of the main room), each of the 4 portals there will take you to a place where you can find samples of the needed materials. Then the sea crown is in with the Sea Emperor. (Also a side note: In my current play through, I actually found a couple sea crowns in a cave in the grassy plateau!!! So that was actually one of the first things I planted in my base this time around. Very cool discovery!)
I played this game several years ago and completed main story a couple times. I'm revisiting it again now and since I'm not worried about spoilers I was looking for content to be efficient. The hatching enzyme ingredients...so true lol. Also, bringing supplies to make a temporary bases is so important. Using anything in the cyclops drains the power cells there. I'm 100% with you regarding the 'pop up' bases. Even in early game I setup a few forward bases...near the forward end of the aurora (away from the leviathan of course) and several other spots. I equip the little base with power supply, fabricator and storage. Then I scour the area of wreckage and everything else I can locally and turn them into the highest level of componentry I can. Such as ingots, plasteel, computer chips...wiring and advanced wiring kits and then when my storage is maxed...make my back to base. So much faster than trekking a bunch of low level resources back and forth to your main base. :)
By the way if you make your base near a leviathan they won't attack your base or you (while your inside once you leave they will) also if you have a machine such as the seamoth or prawn suit than putting it in the moon pool will make the leviathan ignore it too. Just in case you didn't already know
Seriously, one of the best subnautica videos out there: clear, informative, easy to watch, and enjoyable yet without the B.S. of your generic YTuber. Fc*k yes!!! LFGoooooooo!!!!
I'm a former navy diver so it really helps that I can stay focused and calm and have extra tanks ready to switch to when exploring wrecks or on the bottom for a long time. Also, only carry what you need for each mission.
Thank you so much for your clear and concise tutorials. This particular one is exactly what I needed to understand how to get to those last materials and that location that scares me! Appreciate all the work and effort! 😊
Thanks to your directions I found the last degassi base quickly. Suggest an MK3 depth module as the bastard crab squids will push your seamoth down 500+. Killing you as you can’t get any oxygen once it’s gone
Or you can just scour around for fancy lithium, rubies and get a Mk3 like I did just now watching your vid lel I’m still pre lost and have no cyclops but I’m fairly advanced in the farmings rn, just gotta gather the other arm and the drill arm, hope for Cyclops MK1 to spawn somewhere that is not Dunes as I’m terrified. I need to get cyclops frags tho
Very cool :) This is going to be very helpful. I am doing a story-driven base building, which is basically like your pop-up base, but with more stuff, including scanner room (I find the slow, methodical way of playing pretty rewarding). Safe Shallows for the starting game (this makes super sense) with fully upgraded scanner room and some nice stuff. Then at some point, I migrated a lot of stuff with the cyclops to the Northern Blood Kelp, there is a very nice and safe spot nestled there about 500m east (I think) from one big entrance to the Lost River. I got myself an alien containment and a lot of stuff to grow, and most of my lockers are up in the cyclops. Once in a while I would take the cyclops with the prawn suit into the Lost River and drill for stuff, mostly titanium. I'm now in the phase where I want to go down and build my third base, probably close to the Lava Zone entrance, but having trouble with the ghost leviathan and a bit with resources (running out of titanium in the first cavern) including power. Probably need to get those torpedoes first and the crucial upgrades such as thermal. Wondering if anybody had this approach.
This guide was very helpful to point me in the right direction to continue making progress. The game doesnt really tell you where to go or anything, so you kinda have to figure everything out yourself, which is kinda scary
Since I played Subnautica (on early access) I role-played Riley Robinson as some sort of scientist (also, thanks to being a point and click games fan). So I went and cultivated almost one plant specimen of each I encountered in the game. Can you imagine my surprisse when I found out that really was an AWESOME foreshadowing when I had to create the hatching enzimes? The only thing I had to look for was the giant mushroom sample, since those will not grow on a growbed.
The way he explains this stuff may sound monotone and boring to most people, but I personally love his tone of voice, it's definitely better than people who express fake energy.
And here I am taking my time (taking way too long) exploring, collecting, constructing bases and useless stuff like multiple vehicles of the same type xD Awesome guide btw, nothing to add 👍
I picked up the shield generator databox a while ago, when I was trying to get ruby. I dont have it. It says "Ingredients Unknown" and the PDA says I still need one thing. Edit: I found it at the degasi seabase!
Last time went to the lost river a ghost attacked me so I ran away to the surface but didn’t know that they follow you out of the cave and chased me all the way to the grassy plateau then it let me go, make sure you bring backup pants bcs it’s going to be scary
It's a zone like any other, except this one has more interesting stuff to look at. So basically, just be observant and inspect things more closely, this is one of the most interesting areas in the game.
Yeah, hatching enzymes… if you trust the portals, they will spit you out exactly next to all of the ingredients, but I’ve fallen out of the world in Hardcore runs too many times at that point to trust the portals anymore, so… yeah, collect the plans early. Although i think there are a few places where you can find Sea Crowns outside of the emperor’s aquarium… for some reason i remember one being near the Cuddlefish in the sinkhole…
Idk if it was like this 3 years ago but now I think close to zero point there's a hole that goes down into a cave system has a bunch of resources down there and lol and behold I found a seacrown it almost looks like the trenches in the sea emperor's home but it's a bigger hole. I've never noticed it in all my years of subnautica.
cool i already have a sample of all the plants planted in my base . looks lke i m full on track... btw i trapped the ghostleviathan in the big skull twice now...makes the area bit more relaxed
11:37 I don't know the coordinates, but it's right next to Lifepod 6. There's a somewhat hidden cavern you can explore that contains Sea Crowns if you'd rather collect one early on in the game. It also has a good selection of limestone, sandstone, quartz, and salt.
after this last playthrough im pretty sure i dont need the cyclops ..just the prawn suit and the prawns mk2 depth .. but you can get that kyanite with the mk1 for the prawn soooo .. honestly imo good choice you dont need the cyclops
I found them on the first day cause i had no work that day and even less self control. Then a reaper got me. And that is when i peed myself just a little.
So I used the trick to make wrecks disappear with buildings and keep the loot but on the wreck near the arch and mushroom forest I used it and now I can’t find the data box with the sonar. WNAT THE HELL DO I DO AND HOW DO I GET THE SONAR NOW?! btw I don’t have a save before it
I live in the lost River and there are tons of jell sacks and deeps shrooms are the easiest things to find ever just go into the tree zone also bring creepvine for seeds one stalker egg for teeth going up for teeth is torture and the most important thing is a prawn prawn is the most important vehicle down there make sure it’s upgraded other than that good
Some basic knowledge, even if I’m late. 1. The Ghost Leviathan is not a danger, its incredibly easy to get past in the Prawn or Seamoth. I don’t bring my cyclops down yet, but that may be a bit harder. Even if you get bit, you’re not going to die if you have full HP or a reinforced dive suit. I even tried to scan both types and struggled due to it swimming away all the time. 2. River prowlers aren’t an issue as well, they do little damage and are only slightly faster than the player. 3. The Blood Kelp Lost River enterance is good for the Seamoth, but Prawn Suit and Cyclops are both harder (Cyclops is hard to fit, and prawn suit is hard to climb back up) 4. The Lost River honestly isn’t an issue. Find a good entrance, and just go in. You’ll get some good resources.
18:20 side note: you can also build a outpost at the tree, there are many reasons to build one but I like to build one with a hatch, a scanner room, a foundation, and a thermal plant
Been there. Done that. No shield generator for me in that box ;/ Can´t remember what it was though, the box is there for sure, but I haven´t got the shield generator. It´s a great area for those other resources though, and always grab seeds or replant things like the gelsack to grow them at your base. They will grow just fine even in the shallows. I´ve got gelsacks and deep shrooms at 30m in the shallows.
Note: sea crown seeds are findable in the red grass caves. I’ve only been able to find one living sea crown in one cave in the red grass. It’s because it’s considered an endangered species
In the game I don't really use the sonar. I just go on with my seamoth do the things I need to do? go back, build cyclops later on. and head there with depth module and shield. And also engine efficiency (cuz why not the game gives you it for free) and go deeper. I use the prawn for resources if I have it made already. But you don't really need the sonar if you know where you are going and know where the big boys are. Just a tip. Sonar is good to help but not really needed to go. ;)
Really good guides. Bleach only ever gives me 1 water, was that just a nerf they did since this video was posted? Also, not sure if there's any edible fish the further down you go but the Grav Trap is FANTASTIC for catching a bunch of them so you can just cook them on the spot or toss into the Bioreactor. Which brings me to another point that goes with the advanced materials - get Water Filtration Machines ASAP. I'm not sure if it's possible to set them up inside the cyclops (that would be cool though) but they automatically separate Seawater into fresh water and salt. This is extremely handy for several things, not the least of which is using the salt for cured fish meat so you have food for long trips but you also need the salt for hydrochloric acid.
Went to venture to the deep for the first time and came here without knowing its reputation. Wondered why there were so many levithians attacking my cyclops.
I need some help. The databank in the grand reef wreck gave me the first depth module for the cyclops as I didnt have it. I've been trying to find the shield generator and was happy to find your video but the game seems to have let me down. Any suggestions? Update: I found it at another wreck. Still good video though!
I’m so terrified of actually going to the lost river. Heard stories about it and seen some videos. Idk if I can bring my cyclops there but if I can I probably will. Got several big lockers loaded with gas pods. I’m ready to kill those leviathans I think. Just really scared to actually attempt it
You & I are alike. My followers are moaning because my 1st Cyclops is a mass of wall cabinets. Yeah, it's a mobile store room. You have a single row but I have a double row on top of each other & in the back space too. My Lava Biome specific Cyclops is coloured the same as your Cyclops in this ere video. In my Lava Cyclops I am only taking what I need in Flat Pak form. Cabinets are colour coded but house identical building parts. So, yellow is Scanner Base 1 and these cabinets hold everything from Thermal Plants to Scanner Room upgrades & so the same for Green, Scanner Base 2 & red, Scanner Base 3. I will be taking a Scanner Base 4 just incase I need it. Since those Reapers turned up at the Lost River entrance, I have been building 2 Scanner rooms in the same structure. 1 Scanner for everything & the other Scanner room for the Reapers, this Reaper Scanner stays on 24/7. Take care buddy. Your videos are awesome.
Thanks. I’ll try putting a small base just above the lost river entrance and put a beacon named “da river hut 1” 😂 I mean, Riley doesn’t talk in the main game because he has brain damage so it’s obvious that he’ll talk like that lol
