I love making salsa. I roast whole tomatoes, onions, a single jalapeno pepper and a single serrano pepper (with the seeds) in the oven for a delicious salsa. At times, I also add tomatillos to the roasting pan. I let it cool before it goes in the blender. Salt, pepper, lime juice and cilantro get added. I also set some aside and add parsley for the people who say cilantro tastes like soap to them.

Morning Kim and Lou what fun to see you two working together I love homemade salsa. I have made all kinds of salsa can’t get enough of it, also have made corn salsa, peach salsa and watermelon salsa. Green chilies make it green and yes that is a great salsa also. I am just a salsa lover and heavy on the cilantro in them all
@@catchinupwithkim yes all off them are very easy just like the one you made. If you Google salsa recipes there are so many you can try small batches from time to time. Don’t really need a recipe once you start doing it.

We make a salsa just like that but we put our tomatoes and onions on the grill first to blacken the skin. It adds a great smokey flavor to it. Great job ladies!

I remember canning salsa one year. Lots of it. I got a seasoning package from the farm store “royal king”. Followed the directions. I raised salsa peppers in garden and added those. Man, longer it sets in those jars, the hotter they got. Lol
When I had a big garden, I would put them all in a big pot and cook it all down, and put them in pint or jelly jars and can them, had salsa for the whole year or longer. I might have to do it like you guys did, I have tomatoes in my growing bags now.

@@catchinupwithkim 🤣🤣Well of course not hahahahaha It just shows how easy it is when women work a recipe instead of a couple😁😁 I actually went and got all the stuff for salsa just a couple hours later hee hee...I'm gonna make it tomorrow when I go to my son's house...he gets my granddaughter for a week and I get to "babysit" while he works...and THESE are some of the simple things I LOVE to teach her. She loves being in the kitchen with her LOLLIE. She thinks we're just cooking...but I know it's memories that will last her entire life. I know I cherish my memories with my granny in the kitchen

Homemade salsa is the best. I chop. Everything up by hand very tiny pieces . Of course the grandkids wanted it blended up like you and Lou did. I like mine chunky . No matter which way it tastes great. Sounds pretty good to me so I guess I should make some salsa and have tacos for Sunday dinner. You and Lou did a great job and it didn't take no time to do. It sure looks good but boy if Daniel sees all that salt Lou put in he'll let her have it 😂. She never put pepper at all But boy she put the salt to it LOL. I love watching her and Dan go back and forth about how much salt or pepper. She never wants any pepper and he gets on her about too much salt! Green salsa is made of Tomatillo green tomatoes, jalepeno, lime, cilantro, onion, & garlic. Pico chile: dice all, tomatoes, onion, yellow peppers, jalepenos, seranos, cilantro, salt, garlic salt to taste. In a jar salsa: 1 can tomato sauce, crushed peppers ( like you put on pizza), garlic powder, salt, a little water into a jar. Shake to mix well. Taste, peppers will get hotter the more days it sits. May need more pepper flakes, garlic powder or salt. If it thickens, just add water and shake.
Kim I use green tomatoes in my green salsa and the rest of the veggies y’all used in the red salsa in the green salsa!! The green is delicious a little more tangy taste to me both are great!! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
