We definitely need a SQ and SPL comparison between a 15 and 12 subwoofer of the same line. I’ve always wondered what the differences are in the real world.
Same line and model 15 will 99.9% of the time be louder , as he said cone area king Now if ya had a low grade 15 vs a higher end 12 the 12 will prob be louder on motor force alone
Ts8512 mtx subs are excellent low volume sq subs and excellent for spl I'm running 2 ts8512s 1.2 ohm at amp on a hyfonics brutes 3k cranked past clipping and the subs don't even get warm, sad part is I blew 2 bdc4 15s first day I had them on the same amp and the coils on the mtx subs are only 1.75 inch coils
Hoping you guys can help me out I’m looking for a sub comparable in sound quality to a W6 or W7. I want to be able to play all tones and have the sub sound good without much motor noise. This is off-topic from your guises questions but I’m just trying to ask the community. I’m going to run an eight or a 10 in a small Volvo SUV I’m used to JL audio but I don’t agree with the prices. Is there just as good of an option for cheaper? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and pay for the sq that I want?
@@ecooutdoors If you're wanting a ported box, the Arc Audio Black 10 would suit you pretty properly. If you're interested in a sealed box though, the Image Dynamics IDMAX 10 would give you more RMS to play with and play lower. Both of these are in the $500/each range, so you're saving a bunch over the JLs. Additionally, if you wanted to run multiple subs, I'd have no quarrels with recommending the CT Sounds OZONE-10 at
Cone area = air movement, efficiency and output. I started with 10's, then moved up and up and up, and would never recommend small subs for anything serious. I always wanted more, and most others do, and you end up pushing things harder and wasting your electrical, as well as coils, triple joints ect. The large drivers I have now sound as good as anything I've ever heard too, so don't be scared to join the big sub club! All in the box! Speaking of boxes, you really need to test these 15's in a real box man! If shipping wasn't so damn expensive I'd send you one. It needs an 8" aero and about 3.5 cubes to make these test subs sound better, and have FAR more output on less power. Thermal power testing is more brutal in that box though surely. Maybe that's intentional. Can't wait for the plethora of 15's getting down and giving us a show.

@@ecooutdoors "motor noise" is a sales tactic. You'll never hear it inside of an enclosure. Let me explain further. Typically, higher end, high power subs move lots of air over the coil, to cool them. The side effect is it makes a small amount of noise, that I guarantee you won't hear. Especially if it's a sealed box. There's a direct compromise between true, actual sq, and power handling. You can't have both, science at high levels says. Let me ask you this. What do you listen to? How loud do you want it? Do you want true SQ, or output. Having both extremes is impossible. There's plenty of choices in the middle and either end as well. How much power do you have on tap? Are you one to buy something and regret it, only to buy something to try again? How much do you want to, or CAN spend? I know the last questions seem irrelevant, but just trying to get a good idea, truly what kind of user you are. It's the only way to give an accurate, proper answer. Lots of good equipment to give solid answers, but need some info first.
A 8” aero only has 50 sq in of port area @ 3.5 net probably need to be closer to 60sq in. Check out MB Enclosures he focused his channel early on to showcase 8” drivers. Hits 140db + @34hz with multiple different brands. They can get very serious in the right box on low power.
@@abelscaliber7969 The trade-off with having a larger port to volume ratio is a steep drop off below tuning, not so much of a problem if tuned well under 30hz plus sometime the woofer can't load well if port is too large.
Parker... Possible video idea...? 🙏🏻 Price/Performance/SQ comparison between the *CT Sounds Strato 15, Stereo Integrity SQL 15,* and/or the *Savard Hi-Q 15.* All of them deserve so much more attention than they get, especially being _usually_ sub-$300 subs, each.
The ribs on the surround have nothing to do with distortion. Those are only there to prevent the surround from crinkling under high excursion. Distortion comes from either cone flex under high power not the surround. Or extremely bad clipping.
@Timothy even a small amount of clipping is distortion, not just heavy clipping. the spl world could likely care less about it vs output but the sq world doesn't have wrinkled surrounds. Any part of a sub that moves and doesn't stay true adds distortion. The spider, surround n especially the cone. If the surround is all flat and stretched its safe to assume it's pulling on the cone causing it to become untrue again, adding distortion. This is def not a fact as if I design subs just what I've learned over the yrs. I'll bet this black brick sub sounds pretty clean the way it's built. Only Parker and those who own it could really say though
@@kswis yeah but you won't audibly hear distortion at low levels of clipping. That's why so many people that don't know what they are doing burn up the voice coils. Because clipping is hard to detect without a clipping meter or experience. However none of this has anything to do with the butyl ribbed surround. As the surround is solely for bass reflex and has nothing to do with distortion.
Cone area is definitely king. It's all about how much air you can move. More air moving = more pressure = more sound. Nice to see you taking the step up
That is a lie. Come area does not mean more base. It's all about how it's tuned the enclosure and how much space you have to deal with in your vehicle. There are plenty of videos about 5 12s being less loud than 3. How does that work if cone area is what makes the loud it don't
@Big Daddy yeah no shit. I'm not talking about the ppl that don't know what they are doing. I meant when the subs have the correct air space and everything is set correctly like it should be. My bad for not being super specific. Thanks for being that 1 anal person to point that out.
@Big Daddy was definitely far from a lie tho. Bc it is 100% true. The more air you move the louder it CAN be. Some of you ppl kill me with the way you want to argue with everyone. Trying to act like you know more than they do. Chill tf out ppl! We are all here bc we have 1 thing in common. We're bassheads. That's all that matters. Run your system, not your mouth!!!
Your welcome. Your right we all have one thing in common and it's people like you that give out false info and make people think the more subs they have the better. But that's far from the truth
@@BigDaddy66292 like Xmax is def a factor too. Two Memphis Pr 10 have the Xmax of a w7 thus one w7 would move just as much air if now more if tuned correctly
Harmony monolith 18 at .5 ohm in 7cube box in a pt cruiser and as long as space isn't an issue won't go smaller it's unbelievable how much louder and 18 is #singlesubs
You would be surprised how many people don't recognize the box size factor and wonder why their system sounds like shit or why their $1050 sub burns up on rated power🤣
Should do a single budget 15 showdown. Can fit alot of brands in that for under 150 bucks each. Even do a few cheapies like lanzar a boss just for laughs.
Yo Parker! Been waiting for you to step up to a single 15 forever! That's awesome bro. I definitely want to see something like an XFL 12 vs an XFL 15 or some Sundown 12 vs the same model 15. It would be awesome if you could show what each size can do in a sub lineup, going from a single 8, single 10, single 12, single 15, all the way up to a single 18. I think people will love the 15 inch sub tests. Higher SPL numbers and just more bass overall is better for a single sub setup. Way to go stepping it up bro! Can't wait to see you test more 15's!

I looked at that skar enclosure it's tuned to 31 and about the cft needed for that sub. What would you recommend maybe a little bit bigger 4cft and tune to 29?
You should just go ahead and wall it and save the trouble of doing it later on. I started just like you said with a no wall. Then a c pillar flat wall. Then c pillar 6th order. Now I'm about to go ahead and move it to the b pillar and a much bigger box. Wish I would have done this at the start. Lol
Stoked for 15s! I am running a single sundown zv3 15 and it's awesome. I'd love to see a zv5 or even a zv6. That price tag is really breaking my spirits though! Keep up the videos! I'll keep watching
Congratulations on your 1st 15. This is a badass sub. You should try it inverted because the box looks a little small and I think you'll get more out of it. I love the videos Parker and keep on bassin👍🏼👍🏼
Parker have you ever thought about picking up some old school subwoofers likeRF and kicker , Orion and seeing if they actually could do what we thought they could do ???? Not the new but the old classic ones
I brought a 12" E-12 sundown, I was thinking about going 15" instead, but a lot of people warned me that a 15" would tear up my Honda Accord, and everything will rattle, so I will stick with my 12" for now.
Parker, would you do a voltage draw during the 1000 watts for a song (or whatever the tested sub's RMS is)? I think it would be great to see what an amp draws while playing music.
Hell yeah brother I’m loving the 15 on the channel!!! That’s what my setup is currently! Also could you do the give away here on RU-vid bc I myself and a lot of other subscribers I’ve spoke to don’t have a Facebook or instagram and would love to participate in the giveaway! Thanks buddy
@@itdoesntmatterwhatyourname6128 so far two of the bb.2 12's. They don't sell them anymore but I've been pushing them hard for a couple years and they're still going strong. Been looking at a few amps from them but have yet to jump on one. I guess my original post was misleading my bad lol. I'm nothing but happy with the 2 subwoofers I've purchased from blackbrick. 😜
Possibly in some setups it could be. I had 2 of the BDC4 15s and upgraded to the Skar VXF and it was a huge difference without spending a lot more money. The BDC4s wasn't even touching the VXFs. Same box and same amp. Those AP definitely hit them lows like a boss tho. Fr
yeh Buzzin bro that was sick!!!! defo would be a great asset to your channel to get two boxs of a similar spec and comparison for a 12" and a 15" sub plus plenty hours worth of content with that one to buddy. thanks for another bangin vid parker... brightened my day right up.
I am a 15 man my self. Deeper bass ! Smashing the lows! And What about the people like myself who do not have Facebook? I would love to win something too!
Damn Parker your Sequoia is calling you all kind of names right now she's in pain getting stressed out mad at you LOL great review homeboy keep up the good work appreciate everything you do
I only suggested single 15s for testing. Because you have the cabin space to do so. Hopefully you can get a nice custom box soon. To really make them sound good. Cant wait to see what 15 you test next!
I'm sure everyone is gonna want you to do an 18 now, but you should definitely test some 15" versions of subs before hand 😬 I would buy 15" version of a couple subs you have already tested just to see how much difference it makes, several subs TS parameters change drastically between sizes.
The black bricks do look pretty good. I’ve got 215 inch resilient sounds gold series. Been crunching numbers on a box for my Ford ranger lol. Can’t wait 😆
My vote for best budget sub usually goes to the XFL 15. I bet the XFL gets louder than this Blackbrick. The 12 inch XFL hit a 145db. I know the 15" XFL can do better than 146.1
As much as I come to see your content, I also come because your always in a happy mood. It helps me to see happy people doing fun things. So I thank you bro-chacho!!!😎✌️🖖
This box is to small ,Put this in a 5 cubic foot gross and tune to 25z for flat response, 2 cubes sealed 4 ported to 45hz for SPL , you should get about a149 @ 34-35hzgreat videos keep em going
Yes 15's on the channel now. I have a 15" cerwin vega stroker in my nissan 350z custom built box with no spare tire. Thinking about changing to a DD audio 7 series 15" or a DB drive G5 15". I'm running a DB drive A7 2000.1.
Where there priced pretty similar If you have enough room for an extra CF or so larger enclosure there's really no reason to run 12s over 15s, and a 15 in a enclosure that's a bit smaller than it calls for will still out perform a 12 in it's recommend CF. that extra cone area makes a huge difference... You have a mid level 15 out performing top shelf 12s... Enough said ya know.
Im glad youre gettin into 15s!! Im one of the ones who kept suggesting it! Lol plus theyre more bang for only a little more compared to a 12.Now you need a nice built box for a 15😁👌
I have that same enclosure. It's tuned to 31hz from the factory. I have a Soundqubed 3.1 hds D2 15" in that box and it wham's hard. All I play is decaf and low bass songs.
I think you should build or have a box built for a 15 around 4 cu.ft most 15s. Rec 3.5-4.5 cu.ft i think it would have changed that score quite a bit..🔥🔥 still though..
It sounded okay, going to need tons of electrical to get that 146. Looks eerily similar to the Rockville Punisher, except the ribbed surround. Would definitely like to see a video where you get 2 subs of the same brand a 12 and 15. So you can show the differences of stepping up in cone area. Good video
try a skar audio zvx18v2, I started with a skar audio sdr15 n skar box on a rp1200 an then went to the skar audio zvx12v2 in a custom box on a rp2000 and now I have a skar audio zvx18v2 in a custom box on a taramps bass 8k, but right now I have a audiopipe apcl1500.1d on the zvx18v2 while I wait for some si8244 gate driver chips to come in the mail. but cone area definitely makes a massive difference. my zvx18 seems to be 2x louder than the zvx12
Hey parker now u r on the 15s can u get and give me ur opinion and review on the American Bass xmaxxx 15 thanks waiting for ur answer keep bassin let the boom 💥 go
I would like if you could get a blown woofer or buy one of robot underground's subwoofers and test before and after . Obviously if it is blown you probably already have video . From what I understand he recones / redisigns motor/pole piece / baskets to and adds a stack of whatever you want and has a magnetron or magnetizer machine I don't remember the actual name of the machine
