Kicker is an awesome company, and the their subs sound really good. Now that they are coming back into the spl ring with the new solox, people are going to see what Kicker can really do. Just like in the past.
Oh yea ran a 300w 12" comp c on a hifonics Zeus does 400w @4ohms overpowered that sub and was clipping the hell out of it for 9 months took it like a champ until it didnt anymore lol. It was my daily beater at least an hour of play 5 days a week playing constantly 20-30 minutes at a time. Never issues until that smell and then the air headed question "where'd the bass go?" I swear the smell were my brake calipers never smelled a burnt woofer before that now I know!
Ya. I have 2 12inch q class sittin at my house. Beat the hell out of them for 2 years and still hold up like the day I got them. Was running 2500 to both. Not even a smell
I have never seen such a hard working content creator like Parker this dude uploading a bunch of content this year and I loved every video...tnx for the content man keep it coming 👌 💯 👏
Most people complain about the L7 because they have it in a enclosure that is way too small for it, remember this are not the average size and are very efficient drivers (like we had in the 90's) i was really impressed with the l715 in a 6cf ported enclosure i built for my son, with only 1900 watts rms this sub/box were able to set off the alarm on my Genesis Coupe parked in front, none of my other setups were able to do it including 2 12" sundown X12's on a MD8000 or the NS15 on a Bass8K, that sub moves some serious air if set up right.
Kickers are by far one of my favourite subs. The hard rubber brings the sun back to position for fantastic sound and timing and clarity. I’ve had my old I believe it’s an L7 solo 10” for over 10 years now and it still thumps like new and hasn’t deteriorated at all. For the extra cost these subs are 100% worth it. Never had a sub last me this long.
Just found ur channel and been watching some of your older vids..i love my solo barics, got a single l7r 12" with a rockville db11 and its amazing in my tiny hatch with a custom box..and gonna be building a litium battery bank thanks to your video. Your vids are great and and a lot of info! Keep on bassing!
I run a L5 15 and love it, I've always been a fan of kicker. I had an L7 12 in a 2 door s10 with a blow through hole in the cab, the bass was definitely there.
So glad to see a kicker square review ! Been contemplating grabbing one for my daily work car after upgrading all my speakers to timpano 6.5 and a pioneer double din. This sub would go amazing with my cx400.1 I have . Can’t wait for giveaway time because id be souped to have this in my car that pre done box by kicker is beautiful! Keep up great work my brotha!
It wouldn’t go great because the subs RMS is 500 and peak power is 1000 watts so basically you’d be underpowering it by 100 watts no trying to sound harsh I’m just honest to anybody
Always loved the way their loaded enclosures looked. Would be perfect for my daughters first car being that it isn’t distracting loud bass. Would absolutely enter a raffle if you were to giveaway. Also to add, great video and love your honesty about this.
I have the 12” version with a jbl club a600 powering it in a small vw and I couldn’t hear a fire truck 50ft away full tilt. You might want the kicker comp enclosure for undistacting bass. Maybe 250 watts to it.
For the longest time back in 2007 or so. I drove a 1994 civic hatchback. I had two 15" L5's in a 10 cubic foot wall. On two audiopipe 1500s sounded so damn good (And yes I had a cheap 160a alternator and 3 optima yellow tops...those were popular back in that time frame)
I had a friend that ran 3 12 L7's in a explorer and it was difficult to breath in his rig. Those optima batteries were no joke back in the day. I ran a red top in my focus. Had two Rockford 501s amps pushing two twelve ppi power classes ( the ones that looked like a stroker ) . Stock svt alt and that redtop , no headlight dim.
Back in the mid-90's, I had a pair of 12" Kicker Solo-baric subs in a dual-bandpass enclosure.. had this installed in my old Honda Prelude. I used to love those Solo-baric subs! I was the envy of my other basshead friends back in the day. I'm actually thinking about buying some current-gen Kicker Solo-Baric subs for the WRX to replace my current JBL setup.
I had the old school L7 12in. Pushing them with a Fosgate amplifier, that was only 1,000 watts. Everyone thought that I had more than 2 12in subs. I looked at getting a larger amp, but I never felt inadequate. Every time I heard someone else, they was about the same as I, or not as loud, or low. The exceptions are multiple higher end 15in and 18in sub setups. Those dropped harder than mine. The one that absolutely destroyed mine was 12 12s in a gator mouth box. It didn’t seem that loud, but a Pepsi bottle in the cup holder showed different. I was like, wow that is something. Still didn’t seem that much louder than mine. When I got back in my truck, got going up the road, and had it turned up just driving where I was going. My 2 12s just didn’t seem right. I readjusted the Premier along with turning the remote gain up, and still didn’t sound right. My mids and highs was on point, but the lows took a couple days to get right again. Love those squares.
I had the older L7 in the bigger box with the aero port on the side. Had it in a little Ford Focus. I loved that little thing! Took a beating for a year and a half and sold it for what I got it for. I think Kicker will always be a good name in car audio. Albeit a bit expensive but overall nice subs.
Nice video Parker. I've always liked the setup look of squared subs and I feel like it gives the system a really clean look! The L7 solobaric square subs used to be the cats meow back in the day!
Have a never been used 18in solox I can't wait to get hooked up. A few years back installed 2 solox 18s in extended cab chevy for a customer, had a headache all night after tuning them in they were very loud lol!!
Once you’ve reviewed the new Kicker Solo L7X, your gonna want 6 in your big box. They look incredible, and will give you much more cone area. Don’t worry, someone will take those DGA subs in a giveaway lol. Keep em coming brotha!!
Had a older Kicker Solo Baric L7 10 rated at 600 watts RMS. Had it hooked up to a Sound Digital Evo 1200.1, it took that 1200 watts RMS amp daily and love every bit of it. If I've learned anything about kicker in the last 12 years of my car audio experiences it is that they are very conservatively rated. They would rather you pay for 500 watts and get 1200 then to pay for 1200 and only get 500-1000. Alot of other companies should try this strategy!
I can't wait until Kicker sends you one of the New subs they are working on that is like 2500 RMS... That will be interesting to see how it stands up to some of these beefier subs that you review ! Merry Christmas 🎄 Hope you had a good day !!!
I think They come with a round version of that series so that would be a really good comparison to see if the square version is louder than the round one same company Good video
I had four of the old school Kicker Solo-baric 10s (the round ones) in my Integra on a Soundstream Rubicon 1000x4 back in the day and they slammed. From what I see that one that you bought seems pretty decent for one 10.
@Parker The Basshead Love your videos bro! I just grabbed a under seat Fox Acoustics Box for my 2004 Ram but due to limited space I am limited on how big of a Sub I can fit. The box is a single 12 vented 1.85 cu ft tuned to 35 hz, with 7" of mounting depth and 7.5" max magnet diameter. I will be reinforcing the box in a few places so maybe round down the volume. The Skar EVL, Sundown SA, or possibly the Alpine Type-R are what I have narrowed it down to, but I am open to suggestion on others. Also with the limited space would a larger 10" be better? My amp is a Skar RP-1500W Thanks!
I haven't used the newest models or the q class. But I have had a ton of L5/L7's. They always sounded off to me personally. But they do get loud, first big system I heard was 2 12L7s and I was amazed. I would love to test this out for the give away.
I just picked up the Kicker COMPRT 10” shallow and a matching amp for my frontier and it sounds great. My little brother was amazed it sounded as good as it did only having one sub. I think a heads up comparison between this square sub and the COMPRT 10” would be pretty cool
You've gotta respect that RU-vid grind. Also that SPL meter is indicative of car audio. We're always breaking something. Also the round vs square head to head would be cool to see.
I was reading Kickers reasoning behind them a while back and their best fit will be walls because you can fit them basically in a grid with not a lot of wasted space. Although they're still good quality and all that and look cool, so even if someone doesn't have a wall, it's all good
significant effect maybe not, but definetly this shape have an effect on the sounding, because square sub with the same diameter have bigger cone area like a sub with circular cone...
@@DarthRaider if you throw a brick in a river the waves are still going to be circular. Same way with the l7, it's square shape doesnt magically ruin sound quality
yeah, been running two L7 12" a couple of months, 1500wrms each, they just love it haha. But i want more, so probably gonna sell it til the summer when something bigger hopefully gets built, want moore
I love kicker, I had 2 L7S 15s in my tahoe on a kx2400.1, clean, efficient output no complaints. Box was 7cubes tuned to 35hz. My buddy ran 2 of the 2011 version L7 15s for almost 10 years on a zx2500 never ever got them stinky. His box was 12 cubes 32hz and when I tell u u wouldnt believe how low they got. Kickers love big boxes, I did a build with 4 Q class 8s on my channel, they can easily keep up with any other higher wattage 8 out there, Sundown X8, CT Meso 8, SSA F8L, Skar ZVX 8, all which Ive built spec boxes for the Q class can easily keep up on less power 😎. And the Q class line is a whole different line than the L7/CVX, way stiffer suspension and they get low!
Ty for the vid, bro. I’d love to see a head to head comparison between the Comp R 12 and the L7 12”, the Comp R specs at 500 rms and the L7 specs at 600 watts rms…
Hell yea, be cool to see the new solo x when available. Also.. try and get some fi subs for the future! Would love to see your thoughts on them. I'm waiting to recone a 15 inch team fi
I think it could get low in a different enclosure tune to lower frequency because it's not the speaker that can't play low it's the enclosure, great video Parker and B.O.B.! Bass On Brother
I'd love to see the head to head but like you said these aren't comp subs. It'd be cool seeing square subs with a fat surround and night shade style motor setup.
Can you do a review of the Solo x L7 when it comes out it's gonna be a 3000w rms square kicker it's a beast. I wanna get one but only after I see you do a review maybe reach out to them see if they can send you one early. It's supposed to drop 1st quarter 2022
Hey bro…. Love the review… Awesome energy and knowledge, I Love how you test the speakers. I have a couple of questions for you? Did you do a Sq vs round test? So, I have a BMW IX3 Pro…….. It has the HK upgrade, The bass is Average at best. Like a 5 out of 10. So I’m looking at a Kicker sub upgrade, I’m trying to work out 10 or 12”? and or Square or round?? Cost wise…… 12" CompVR - £150 12” Comp R £169 12" CompVT- £189 12” L7T - £349 I like bass, But I don’t need ears bleeding, window smashing Sub bass….. But some more volume and bottom end would be great ;) For example….. A Porsche 911 Turbo is good enough. For 100K - Whereas a 911 GT3 RS for 200K. Although I would love one, I don’t need the extra 100K for not that much extra, if that makes sense? In your opinion what would you go for? After watching a few videos, I’m thinking CompR Appreciate your time, Love from the UK, Carl.
I have 10” L7 that I bought in the mid 2000’s. Solid sub still. It doesn’t sound (tone) as nice as the 10” Pioneer (late 90’s sub) that I ran before it but it did hit twice as hard. I don’t know how good or bad subs are today because the L7 has performed as well as I want it to.
If I am correct, Kicker went with the "Square Sub" because the square has more surface area than a circle. IMO, Kicker L7's are probably the best bang for your buck, preferably 2 15's, if you have the space.
Parker, you should really grab a digital designs sub at some point. I think they absolutely rock, but I'd be interested in how they compare to the competition
You should compare a square kicker with a round kicker of the same series...i think that would give the best results of a square sub vs a round sub comparison
One of my favorite subs to play metal throu 🤘🏽 and recently have been having a flashback and now am thinking on putting a 8" in my daily toy/racecar 😅 ... being all poly and solid mounts , a sub might help dround out all my vibrations 😅.. .. like the vids bro , any time I am curious about any audio stuff I have watched your channel .. ty ... peace and love bro keep it rad stay safe and build on l8z famz and keep having fun brotha
Coming from someone who’s been out of the game for a minute, I see a lot of these taraamps (think that’s the name). Are they good quality amplifiers? I have the original Fi BTL and am looking to get a new amp. Like the sundown salt series but I’m just checking around. Any suggestions? RMS 2500 dual 1ohm for the sub.
I was looking at that kicker sub but the 12’ inch one , can does subs be wired parallel to one ohm ? I ask because I have a ct sounds 500.1 but only does 500rms at 1ohm.
'I currently have two SoloBaric L7 12D2's on a Smart 3 Bass at 0.5ohm nominal. 5.3ft^3 enclosure, taking just shy of 3500W clamped! Originally were "get me by subs" until my Sundown 18" came but have been waiting so long for that, I have them tuned in nicely 2001 Dodge Dakota ext cab, subs up, port up and port around 16" from the roof. Two layers of deadener on the roof, holding 13.5v+. 4x rise brings them to 2ohms post rise, where the Smart amps do the most power :) About to meter them, I was entirely bloown awauy by them!
Heyyyy sequoia gang!! Love mine and my single 12 and awful amp aren’t doing me justice haha even with the space I think I’m gonna go with two 12’s, still have the enclosure, had two kenwood 12’s with a ported enclosure and a (i know old) sound stream amp…again. I had an expedition and i swear it was the best sub set up I’ve ever had that and two infinity 12’s lol
My two SoloBaric L7S 12" were freaing insane. Its almost hard to believe anything could be more loud than what i had. Its a completey different animal than subs ive heard. Including W7.
Everyone says that the “new kicker sucks” the “new kickers” haven’t been around long enough to show what they can do. Give these setups 15 years like the old ones to play and come back when they’re still thumpin
I bought a 90 corvette coup last year and I had a Kenwood Excelon single din head unit with 2 Excelon 3 way 6x9's in front and 2 Kenwood 5 way 6x9's installed. I will be getting the Kenwood Excelon 800.5, big 3 and a single 10 inch sub installed due to space needed as my daily driver. I always wanted a square kicker. But, the installer advised me to do some research on " believe it or not" 10 inch Bazooka. I know. I know! But mind you, I am wanting SQ and everything to run at 4 ohm. Now, going by the specs and the 25 plus years bazooka has been in the game, they are looking as a solid competitor for my rude. What say you?
Hey i got a question for ya what kind of box and how big would you reconnect to use with a one 10” fosgate power T1 I’m running a power series 1000.1 bd amp i had a vented store bought box but i blew the back of the box apart so im doing some homework to build a custom one im thinking arowporr ? And do you recommend just mdf ? I see hella people using all kinds of woods now adays think have changed since i had a system soa little help from anyone works be cool thank you
My journey into the L7 world was spoiled. But really interested in knowing how close i am, already having a solo classic round 12, and a black k comp r 12. I may not need an l7
