@Jay Flow What do I look like. ? Im not a politician, a community leader, etc. I post RU-vid videos. Since when does documenting, mostly by request, becomes sensationalizing, or criminalizing ? I know you think you sound intelligent but you actually sound like a fool.
@Jay Flow you clearly haven't watched any of his content. Charlie has interviews with locals all the time and even sometimes walks the streets with them and solo. Do your research because you really do look and sound like fool.
@Jay Flow criminalizing? Dude drives around a records places. You wanna talk about sensationalism how about start with the major media networks. Charlie is bringing to light situations that most people would never see otherwise and the first step towards change is awareness. Stop hating, not everything on the internet has to be a fight.
I did HVAC repair in Louisville for 4 years before moving to Chicago. Even in the "rough" areas, Louisville people are pretty easy to get along with. Not soft or sweet, but chill and common sense. Only ones you really gotta watch out for are the methheads, but they're easy to spot. Louisville may look like shit, but the people are based af.
Im 38yrs old born raised and still residing in da Ville. It's sad watching this and not seeing my hood i was born and spent 18yrs of my life,Iroquois Projects but i really appreciate the love you showing our hoods
Its truly sad to see how bad my city has become. I've lived in Louisville my entire life and the part i live in has become worse than the Taylor Blvd. area. Great video, brother
I'm a Louisvilian. If I'm correct, the first minute or so looks like Park Hill, it Can be sketchy sometimes but it's the luck of the draw.I mow City View and Park Duvalle (2 other apt complex/rental homes) for the landscaping company i work for and while I haven't had any direct issues, I've seen my share of firearms hanging out car windows and heard plenty of gunshots. True story: my dudes were mowing Park Duvalle (Algonquin Parkway area) and came around the corner of a bldg to see an suv pull up and four dudes hop out and put 8 shots into someone on the sidewalk. It can happen anywhere tho so yea... That being said, Louisville's ppl are pretty chill for the most part. Unless you go looking for trouble, like directly in the west end or the junkie trailer parks, you'll be fine. While the crime rate is getting stupid, it's pretty relative to certain areas of the city known for gang shit with a few outlying incidents. The problem now is these lil teens running around with pistols bcuz there aren't many consequences for them since they're minors. All in all, i like the city i live in. At least it ain't ChIRAQ lol.
The company i work for is on 12 and market. As a trucker i have been in some very scary places. I also worked new York city's housing back in the late 80s. Also worked in some of the worst places in los Angeles. Project are bad but walfare hotels are the worst. At night it can get rough in Portland area of Louisville.
I recognize every street in this video because of my 16 years as a delivery driver, mostly in the west end. Why did you show so many alleys in Portland compared to the streets? Also you did some creative editing to keep showing bad stuff. At one point you turn onto Kentucky and cut away before a pretty nice high rise appears. Another point you cross Bank St up to Portland, then cut to going down the same block in the other direction, obviously after just turning around. In my 16 years the only area I didn't enjoy delivering to was the Park Hill projects, the first street in this video.
@@sanas4681 it's starting to get hipsters and it's changing but it's still bad. Gonna take a lot to get all the crime out. Look Sr Germantown it's still got it's pockets.
So in 16 years as a delivery driver I guess all the people ordering things were just in the west? Hell... Far as it goes now. We poor people mostly don’t even fuck with Amazon or any type of ordering over there. Unless you work for the governments delivery services.
I work for Transit Authority River City (Tarc) and I get a good view of Louisville, Kentucky 5 to 7 days a week. The rise in homelessness is depressing I didn't know it was that bad in Jefferson County aka Louisville until I started driving for Tarc.
Know where this is. I live in Louisville. 5 min by car from the louisville zoo. Why I am moving out west. So tired of politicians like Greg Fisher Louisville,s mayor. A real clown.
Same here. The mayor of Louisville is a laughingstock of the worst kind. He lets activists like “Doctor” Ricky Jones lead him around by the nose uprooting statues while the whole city burns. Let’s see you take care of basic services first.
Fischer is done. Term limits? Right? Louisville will have Democrat leadership in perpetuity. Mitch will more than likely die in office. By the way, I always vote straight Republican ticket. I could never vote for the party of the KKK , slavery, and Jim Crow.
One thing I agree with it is too political here and they always come to black areas and campaign and canvas. If we vote we vote if we don't oh well. And stop bringing politics to church. That's one reason I don't like going any more.
@@daniellejordan6938 I happen to know the former head of the PVA. When it was election time. One time I saw him at Holy Family Catholic church to meet everybody he could. He is retired now.
It's definitely improving. I've frequently gone to Shively over the past 20 years. Also, Portland was an absolute ghost town 14 years ago and now is beginning to look much more like a MiniShawnee 'hood with mown lawns & kept-up houses. Shawnee has the large, grand brick homes, Portland has the shotguns and some of them are quite nice. Same of Broadway west of 9th. I think people are investing in the community because it is possible to purchase a small but nicely renovated home in reasonable rental-type installments...perfect for a family. I only say bc I was looking for a place to rent, but now (sadly), I have to leave the state for a while.
The homeless population is so sad out here. Hurts my heart everyday going to work downtown. Most cases are those who have no one fighting for them for mental help and drug addiction. Addiction takes more louisville lives than gunshot.
One thing about Louisville if they call you family for life! I loved it when I lived out there and I’m from Philly. Totally different world out there but that’s my second home. I be back at the end of the month 💯
Born and raised. You will always have rough neighborhoods where you dont fuck around but the worst thing about Louisville that really breaks heart right now is the heroin and meth addiction, homelessness, and overdoses. Shit is too strong to kick and folks will spend their rent to get a little more then they have nowhere to go then they eventually OD on somethin trying to chase that first high. I wish we could come together as citizens of Louisville and do something but we just drive on by and maybe give em some money but yall know deep down how they got to where they are and where that money is going. How do we start to change things????
The projects…..some people get stuck in them for life. That’s all they know. Sad….there’s a whole big beautiful world out there, they just don’t get to see it.
@@lindamatus4429 for a couple reasons, 1. I'm not from the usa and can't see myself going anytime soon for obvious reasons. 2. These videos show an America that's not widely publicised to other countries outside of America. 3. I thought it would be an interesting comparison after seeing the recent videos showing hoods now verse the 80's etc and the huge changes
I lived there for a time in the mid 1980s. West end was ghetto, and some of the east end around the Hurstbourne area were colonized by the Yuppies. Was about the time that the word gentrification entered the culture. By 1987 there was more homeless that at any time since the Great Depression.
Louisville gift birth to greatness!!! We have our own sauce...if u keep to yourself...I don't care where u live.. u'll be alright...but don't take the kindness for weakness...if u do..u gonna c a different side...that monster is going to raise it's head
I watch your videos all the time now your in my city park hill is the last projects we have they tore them all down and redone them but anyway what did you think of louisville????
Most southern and west coast coast states have 1 level housing projects. Most north east and Midwest states have high rise housing projects such as queens bridge, soundview, Cabrini green, Robert Taylor homes.
i love Louisville, haven't been back in for awhile. but man i forgot how many shotgun homes they have in the city. I have never had issues with people in Louisville
You should cover other kinds of neighborhoods to contrast? You know, this is actually important work....in the future people will reference this to understand how things were during these times
I agree but in Louisville whenever I lived there it feels like there’s the hood for 80% of the city and then the suburbs is only like 20% of it and it feels like there’s a big racial divide and who can get into the better areas because so much poverty.
I actual love “Lu-vull” I had a great time and good experience in the hood. I was out there putting up 4 G towers for AT&T iPhone . I was at the hotel out there so I went to the “hood” to get some bud. The hood was good they got me straight so I rolled up out there. The boys rolled on us for the bud the started searching us and found all the bud on me. 1 officer took the bud and put it in his pocket the bud was in the plastic from the new port pack so it wasn’t secure so it spilled in his pocket. He said “ damn it, it got all over my iPhone. I asked him “how’s his service? you know I’m here putting up the 4G towers, and we almost done, it’s going to be a lot better” he said how long? I said bout a day or so. Why they give me my bud back and told me to stay at my hotel. Let everybody Go even people that didn’t have ID. I got love for L-ville. Those police was serious too.
I've lived here my entire life and this city has become a nightmare. The Ali center is amazing though. If you ever come here to Louisville, go to the cemetery where Ali is buried. Its really peaceful
that first project he showed was that iroquois or parc chill jus curios I'm from Atlanta raised in Duval all I know about Louisville is what I seen on hood to hood and the 1st 48
@@statpadford fill me in, I went to college with some dudes from Louisville and them was my partners for real. Them boys used to stay stressing about Newburgh
@@ONEPLAYK_ well for starters park hill and newburg are no where near the same or by each other. park hill is mostly crip and newburg kinda blood/crip mixed. park hill is the last project left in louisville. newburg just like any neighborhood w houses and apts. park hill in the west and newburg in the east. park hill and newburg don’t really fuck w each other. both known for having a lot going on. im from parkhill, niggas just don’t make it out.
Louisville and kentucky are two separate places . It's definitely completely different here . Why would he come there? That's like saying come to Frankfort or Lexington .
I got a friend from Louisville and didn’t know it was even that bad there. I mean ofc it’s hoods everywhere but I didn’t know it was like this until like last year.look like a mix of Buffalo and Alabama lol
@@DGsKattKatt I see what you mean, but you could honestly say that about any city, like Hollywood in Los Angeles or the French Quarter of New Orleans. I'm just saying.
My sister-in-law is approaching retirement age, and her new "plan" is to sell her home in a pretty decent area of Louisville now that real estate prices are soaring, and buy some dump in one of these "hoods" for pennies. I love her to pieces, but she is insane, and I won't be able to rescue her.
all wrong this is project housing and majority of ppl here are from other countries and not violent just out so what's the point to get yt numbers LOUISVILLE IS STILL GREAT CITY EVERY STATE HAS AREAS NEGLECTED BY THEIR CITY HALL GOVERNMENT SO JUST TAKE THE VID AS NOTHING
@@patsnation1316 lmfao Im not gonna lie to you bro😂 Kansas is sweeet as hell as a state but WICHITA, Ks is pretty ghetto bro. The thing is, it’s the only ghetto part of Kansas. Everywhere else is farms or crack heads😂😂😂 it’s not Chicago or Compton but it’s definitely up there
Hopefully when you came through you hit the strip too (Broadway) Slide through 26th at night if you trying to get some real content though lol Shout out to you again though for coming back
