Love is a theme that is underrepresented in videogames, but some of our greatest stories, whether Pride and Prejudice or Romeo and Juliet center around this elusive emotion. Interactivity affords us a new range of possibilities when it comes to exploring love though, both in mechanics and aesthetics, and this video traces some of the most interesting attempts by game designer to capture it. Play allows us to participate in the examination of love in fascinating ways, perhaps allowing us to peer deeper into matters of the heart.

I like these moments of gaming based around love. Florence is a great example to look at. Not enough games explore the theme of love through gameplay. I wouldn't mind seeing more games focus on a romance's development. There's so many of them that focus on courtship, but not how it's maintained or falling apart.

Really good video, made me consider how video games and media probably shaped my vision about love. I am quite surprised you didn't talk about Haven for this, a game centered around an established couple going through challenges but also everyday life.

Great video! This reminded me of Chrono Trigger, where the main character, Chrono sacrifices himself to save his friends. Also, the side quests in that game give plenty of examples about love. I recommend you play it, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks Ricardo, and Chrono Trigger is a great example! I played it when i was fairly young, so i have been meaning to revisit the game to see how it impacts me now.
