Spike Jonze directed this video. He put Weezer in a prop Happy Days set and used archived footage from the characters of the show and spliced it all together. The only Happy Days cast member who made a cameo in the actual video was Al who introduced them and asked if they tried the fish. Everyone else were old clips from the actual show. The genius part is you have a band from the 90's doing a video set in 50's from a TV show that aired in the 70s and that show was based in the 50s lol

Not only was that Fonzie, but everyone except Weezer were cast members of Happy Days. This video was cutting edge for its time because the director, Spike Jonze, took an episode of Happy Days and inserted Weezer's Performance into it. I know things like that can be done on a phone now, but back then it was a remarkable accomplishment.

My son is 19 and Weezer is his favorite band. Not only is the lead singer, Rivers Cuomo, smart, but he graduated from Harvard. This was an actual episode of "Happy Days" that Weezer inserted themselves into. Some of the guys on the show had a band who would perform on the show, so they are kind of replacing them. Arnold was played by Pat Morita, later Mr. Migayi from "Karate Kid." You can see him laughing towards the end.

I was introduced to Weezer by Microsoft. Back in the mid 90's when Microsoft came out with the Beta of Windows 95 they included this Weezer video file and a couple of others on the installation CD to show off the new video capabilities of Windows 95. It was such a hit they kept in on all the production run versions of Windows 95. I've heard it a million times... still not tired of it.

The actor who played "The Fonz" or "Fonzie" is Henry Winkler. They called him that because his name on the show was Arthur Fonzarelli. The person dancing when they had their back turned to the camera was a stand-in because they mixed episodes of Happy Days in with Weezer and they had to hire extras to dance. The guy who kept asking about the fish was Al, the owner of Arnold's. He wasn't the original owner. The asian man they showed for a few seconds was the original owner. This video brought such nostalgia for those who were familiar with the show. When I was younger, I would tune in every day to watch Laverne and Shirley and then Happy Days. Great memories.

For more Weezer, definitely check out Beverly Hills or Hash Pipe. For other fun videos, do a reaction to something by Weird Al Yankovic. His songs are mostly parodies, but you want to pick one where you know the original. Madonna's "Like a Virgin" became "Like a Surgeon", and "Beat It" became "Eat It". For something more modern, he did a great parody of "Blurred Lines" called "Word Crimes" that you guys should love since you're teachers.

“Happy Days” was great----until Ron “Richie” Howard left, I believe after Season 5. He was the heart of the show. Fonzie was the flash, but Richie really was the protagonist. The expression “jump the shark,” used to describe when a TV show or other phenomenon starts deteriorating, comes from the famous “Happy Days” episodes when they vacation in California (you gotta see the shark thing to believe it). However, the show didn’t go downhill after that, in my opinion, and it remained high in the ratings well after that. But when Howard left, it became the Fonzie and Chachi (Fonzie’s nephew or cousin) show, and they brought in lame new characters, and so the last five years were lackluster. However, the first five years of “Happy Days,” the film “Grease,” and “American Graffiti” are the holy trinity of the ‘50s nostalgia craze in the ‘70s (with Sha Na Na as the house band).
@SuddenReal
@SuddenReal 2 года назад
Henry Winkler once talked about that expression "jumping the shark", how it indeed originated from the show, but unlike what the phrase now means (which is putting in something crazy to attract viewers, but will likely be a death sentence for that show), it indeed wasn't the end of Happy Days and that the show, despite "jumping the shark", kept on going strong. He did say it was ironic that the show that launched the phrase didn't "jump the shark".

You really should watch Happy Days. It began as a Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) centric show with Fonzie as a minor character, but Henry Winkler brought so much to the role that he was pushed to the front to be as important as the Richie character. Weezer got clips from Happy Days for the video, but they got the original actor who played Al in Happy Days to do the cameo at the beginning. That guy was "The Fonz" or "Fonzie" (Arthur Fonzarelli) - it's the actor Henry Winkler. He was the "Cool guy" who always got the girls at the end (just like in the video.) There are other big stars from Happy Days - the redhead by the jukebox is actor and director Ron Howard. Pat Morita was also in Happy Days, later famous for playing Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid movies. You may also want to check out Weezer's hit "Pork and Beans" - the video shows a LOT of early RU-vid stars whose clips ended up becoming memes.

She recorded an album performing her songs in 1971 ("Tapestry") and that hit #1 on the charts and for the five years from 1971 to 1976 she had 6 top ten albums. She had another top ten album in 2010 performing live with James Taylor. "I Feel the Earth Move" would be a great one to react to ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xgbvVpLBrOA.html

Carole King is one of the best and most prolific songwriters ever. Some people diminish that by adding the word 'female', despite the fact that she was far more accomplished to 95% of her male contempories. Her collaborations with Gerry Goffin (who wrote the Chiffons hit "One Fine Day" that Rob and Amber reacted to previously) were superb too.

His real name was Arthur Fonzarelli. But he was so cool it was just "the Fonz"... He was a greaser that had been in a gang, but no longer was although he still wore a leather jacket and blue jeans. He can make the jukebox play a song just by kicking it in the right spot. Many of the other cutaways were to real cast members of the Happy Days TV show.

During the first season of the show, Fonzie often wore a light tan or off-white windbreaker jacket similar to the style General Eisenhower wore during WWII.

Ok, to clarify because I didn't see if anyone else did already: This video is actual footage from the show that has been edited together for the video with the band inserted into the footage. It's not that they got Henry Winkler (Fonz) to be in their video. Though, I'm sure there was a lot of legalese that went on behind the scenes in order to use the footage.

Henry Franklin Winkler (born October 30, 1945) is an American actor, comedian, author, executive producer, and director. Initially rising to fame as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on the American television series Happy Days, Winkler has distinguished himself as a character actor for roles such as Arthur Himbry in Scream, Coach Klein in Adam Sandler's The Waterboy, Dr. Henry Olson in The Practice, Dr. Stewart Barnes in Out of Practice, Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development, Sy Mittleman in Childrens Hospital, Dr. Saperstein in Parks and Recreation, Eddie R. Lawson in Royal Pains, Fritz in Monsters at Work, Uncle Joe in The French Dispatch, and Gene Cousineau in Barry. He is the recipient of a number of accolades, including seven Primetime Emmy nominations (winning one), five Daytime Emmy nominations (winning two), six Golden Globe nominations (winning two), two Critics Choice Award nominations (winning one), and four Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. As a child, Winkler struggled at P.S. 87 on West 78th Street, Manhattan and the McBurney School, where he was berated for his poor academic performance. He then studied theater at both Emerson College and the Yale School of Drama, spent a year and half with the Yale Repertory Theater, did regional theater and commercial work, and appeared in two independent films. After saving enough money, he traveled to California in September 1973 (on the advice of his agent) and won a small role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He also auditioned for Happy Days and won the part of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli, a role he portrayed for the next ten years. During his time on Happy Days, Winkler was diagnosed as dyslexic. After the end of Happy Days, Winkler found himself typecast and moved into producing and directing. In this capacity, he was directly involved in the development of the original MacGyver and worked on programs such as Sightings and The Hollywood Squares. He also directed the theatrical releases Memories of Me with Billy Crystal and Cop and a Half with Burt Reynolds. In 2003, he drew upon his childhood struggles with school to co-write the Hank Zipzer series of children's books (about a dyslexic schoolboy) with children's literature author Lin Oliver. The series is based on Winkler's childhood, and set in the same New York schools that he attended. Winkler also appeared as Mr. Rock in the BBC adaptation of the series. Winkler and Oliver next created the prequel series Here's Hank, the Ghost Buddy series, and the Alien Superstar series. In 2016, he became a reality television star on the NBC series, Better Late Than Never. Winkler has been honored both for his role as "The Fonz" and for his work with dyslexia (through the Hank Zipzer books). In 1980, he donated one of Fonzie's leather jackets to the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution. In 1981, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2008, The Bronze Fonz was unveiled along the Milwaukee Riverwalk. In 2011, he was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth, was named one of the United Kingdom's Top 10 Literacy Heroes in 2013, and was awarded the Bill Rosendahl Public Service Award for Contributions to the Public Good for his children's books in 2019.

Yes, that was Arthur Fonzerelli (The Fonz, or Fonzie) and he did always say, "ayyyyyyyy." He was the epitome of cool....rode the motorcycle, wore the leather jacket, got all the girls (usually by just snapping his fingers), won every fight and could start the jukebox just by hitting it.

I met Henry "The Fonz" Winkler at a little 50`s themed diner in Manchester, UK called "Starvin Marvins"back in 1999, I worked in a cocktail bar next door called JW Johnsons, we used to take our breaks in "Starvins" and eat hot-dogs and drink cola floats, all delivered by waitresses dressed in period correct uniforms and on roller skates...he was such a nice guy, had a long chat with him and got an autograph on my work shirt...still have it stashed away somewhere...

That's him when you see him from the front by himself, as it's a clip from the show. When you see him from the back in front of the band, it's a stand-in. They cut in scenes of other actors from Happy Days. It was a lot of skillful editing.

There are a number of callbacks in this song/video Happy Days - a TV show from the 70’s set in the 50’s Buddy Holly - the late great singer Mary Tyler Moore - a comedic acting genius who co-starred in a sitcom in the 60’s and had her own show in the 70’s. The Fonz’s catchphrase was “Hey” and gave a thumbs up. He was played by Henry Winkler who is a great actor and director. Ritchie Cunnigham was played by superstar actor/director Ron Howard.

Actually, that was special effects and editing of scenes from Happy Days with members of Weezer in it. They were the same type of effects used in Forrest Gump. "The Fonz" was played by Henry Winker. Also, you will notice Tom Bosley and Marion Ross (who later played Red Forman's mother on That 70s Show).
