Thanks for the video! What a great show and venue! My wife and I were sitting in row 15 just to your right. We were able to go back stage and hang with Mike and Paul after the show…super cool guys! Still one of the few 80s bands with 80% original members! RIP Scott…
Incredible, saw them three or four times, of course, three, back in the eighties when they were just out for a few years, incredible then. I'm sixty now, last time was, here in Florida where I live, Tampa Amphitheatre, May 2023, incredible still to this day, like here. We may all get older and grey, bald, heavy, slower, etc..., but thank God, these guys kept their ability, health wise, that is, to be able to play, and Mike Reno, at seventy one or two, still has his voice.
Saw them roll an oxygen tank over to the drummer after first song, lol. I lived in Denver and been to RR a few times and if you're not ready for thin air, it will get you! Saw LB in Detroit in early 80's on a whim and they were way better live than I thought they'd be! Women were tossing bras on stage.
Greetings from Canada. We don't mind sharing our talent with the rest of the world. :) Never been to Red Rocks and someday would love to see a show here. The altitude must be a killer as I can see Matty Frenette (Drums) taking on some oxygen. We saw this show 2 weeks ago in Toronto. Had a blast, got wet lol , 10 minute downpour. The old guys can still bring it!
Set list: Working for the BBQ Turn me loose (on the buffet) The brisket is hot tonight Take me to the restaurant Lead a double cheesburger Destination McDonald’s
Thanks for filming! Mike sounds great and props to him for not sucking wind in this altitude. I do wish he would lose weight--only because I want them to stay around for a long time. Red Rocks is awesome.
Agreed man, I can't believe we are this old, feels like not long ago when we practically lived at Red Rocks during the summer, there was a bad ass concert every few days....so many memories here, I've been all over the world and there is no place in the world for rock n Roll shows.
I saw Loverboy live in concert, back in 1982. This was in Dortmund, West Germany. They were part of a rock show package that also included Chicago, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, REO Speedwagon, A Flock Of Seagulls, and surprise guest Gary Moore. The show lasted all night, up by the time Gary Moore took the stage half of the audience was out the door and I took a catnap in the cheap seat section and woke up in plenty of time to ride the chartered bus that took me back the radar site that I called home for all of three years: Pruem Air Station. Loverboy put on a great show, as did the other acts. I was not into Gary Moore, though.
I was 16 years old when I saw Loverboy play at Folsom Field as part of the Sun Day #1 event with Dio, BTO and headliner VH back in 1986. Great show, but shitty venue....wished it would have been at Red Rocks. I remember Loverboy getting boo'd mercilessly which was unfortunate as I really liked them...but that was standard fare for opening up for VH back in the day. 38 years later and it's nice to see them opening up for (part of) VH again without the hostile crowd. RIP Eddie.
It is unbelievable...that you are playing this amphitheater at this point in your retirement. Pretty cool for you I'm sure! Good turn out for Red Rocks Amphitheater wit LOVERBOY! I bet it was great Live!
saw the show in Toronto with the family it was AWESOME lots of love for Sammy and this Canadian Iconic band plus smoked up with mike and the loverboys in Niagara Falls new years eve way back when
love it !!! saw sammy in tampa , unfortunately it was stormy out so these guys couldnt play due to the delay. i do hope to see them before they retire.
I noticed Daryl Hall and as of 2017+ Mike too, are going for the 'breathy thin falsetto' technique vs what he did in the 1980s-2000's. Hall is in the news for cancelling a show 4 songs in. The singer for Loverboy, Mike Reno does this soft singing bit now, too. With the tricky high parts. Evil aging at play.
I’ve seen loverboy a few times over the years. One of their shows in Atlantic City mike had problems with his microphone with the feedback and got pissed and walked off the stage and didn’t come back on. Either he was embarrassed about that or wanted an excuse to go eat some burgers. Lol. Seriously though I heard mike did cocaine and sure he drank alot. So maybe that explains how he went from so skinny to looking like he does now??? I used to go to a ton of concerts in the 80s and 90s and the electricity in the crowd was amazing. Anytime I watch concerts these days the crowds look more like they are watching a movie. The crowds are so boring and no energy whatsoever. Guess that’s the difference between the 80s and todays crowds. Glad I got to experience the best of times during the 80s. Kids today have no idea what a rocking show is really like.
A venue better suited to folk and woke acts, Red Rocks was a better attraction in the days without big video screens and after-market sellers. Those in the nose-bleed sections still need binoculars and hearing-aids to fully enjoy a show. Loverboy will always rock-on.
@@mitchreynolds9414 HE LOSES A LOT OF WEIGHT if we watch the two songs from the new blu ray remaster of their 1982 Vancouver show !! Two songs only, here on youtube since I guess they don't want to kill sales of it by posting the whole thing here... 😙
Odd statement...How many Grandparents do you know that are ripped and look like they did when they were in their 20's...I'm sure you don't look like you did when you were younger.
As a Canadian I will always support bands like Loverboy, but damn if they want to keep touring Mike should seriously consider a personal trainer and getting into shape. When I see someone his size I can't help but think he should be on the Fair circuit not supporting a major tour.
Ascites - Abdominal swelling caused by accumulation of fluid, most often related to liver disease. Other wise known as drinking a shit load of alcohol for years , aka beer belly!
I wanted to go to this show so bad, but couldn't swing it....Red Rocks hold so many teenaged memories, back in the mid n late 80's as a 15-16 year old kid, the Amphitheater used to be all General Admission so we'd get in line when park opened at like 0500am, sit out in the hot summer day, drinking ice old beer, talk to all the hot females, GenX we have the baddest and hottest Women, who are hotter even today. My 2 kids Graduated HS in the Ampithere, I've worked here doing Security and later as a Cop, now all I need to do is get to be a bad ass guitar player and play here someday. My best buddies and I saw Loverboy when the Headlined here in 82-83, not for sure which. Back in the day we had the Red Rocks Summer of Stars, ....not quite the same these days...but we saw of course the Boys here playing rt now, saw ZZ TOP, Journey, Joan Jet, Quiet Riot, The famous U2 Sunday Bloody Sunday show in the rain that they made a concert movie out of, Tom Petty, George Thorogood, Jimmy Buffet, THE Police, Foreigner, man the list goes on.....wish I could have seen Sammy and Mikey, never got to see VH with either Dave or Sammy.
Well, he definitely let himself go! He said he looked good 40 years ago, so what do you expect?? I say bullshit. I know people his age that still look great. He just loves his food and booze way too much. He still has the chops but he looks like shite. 👍🏻
