A versatile and useful frequency range (just tones) that can be helpful for many different purposes, including increasing focus, anxiety and depression relief and other health or sleep issues. More info below.
Note: This is an updated, louder volume version of my previous 12-15Hz SMR video, which I uploaded in 2015 here: • SMR - Pure Isochronic ... .

► If you are new to this type of audio brainwave entrainment, find out how isochronic tones work and how they compare to binaural beats here: www.mindamend.com/brainwave-en....
This video/audio can be used in multiple ways and has many different potential benefits, so please read this description to find out how it can help you and how to use it.
This is a brainwave entrainment music track, using pure isochronic tones without any music. If you prefer, you could also try combining this with other music in the background, with the tones slightly above the volume of the music.
What does this video/audio do?
The isochronic tones beat at a rate of between of 12-15Hz, throughout the video. When referring to brainwave activity, the 12 to 15Hz range is known as SMR (Sensorimotor Rhythm). The tones work to stimulate your brainwaves and increase activity within this SMR range, which offers many potential benefits.
How can you use it and benefit from it?
Focus - Use as a study aid
12-15Hz is at the bottom of the Beta range. Increasing low Beta wave activity can increase focus, but as it's not too intense, it can be used as a general study aid to boost concentration.
Depression and Anxiety
12-15Hz is a good mid-frequency range which can be helpful in reducing anxiety and stress or relieving the symptoms of depression. Depression usually produces more slow-wave brain activity, whereas anxiety and stress produce more high-frequency activity. If you suffer from both these conditions, it's often a good strategy try and guide your dominant brainwave activity into this more centred 12-15Hz area.
Mood
Increasing low Beta activity can be helpful for boosting your mood without being too intense.
Health and Sleep
EEG research has found that elite athletes and very fit and healthy people tend to produce a higher amount of SMR activity, while people who are ill, unfit or who suffer from various disorders like insomnia and ADHD are consistently found to have much lower levels of SMR. So an increased level of SMR brain activity is generally linked with a healthy body and mind.
If you suffer from insomnia, the idea is to boost your natural levels of SMR activity by listening during the daytime, not at night while you sleep. I don't recommend listening to this just before bedtime, as it may disrupt your sleep.
How To Use It?
Listen to this any time during the daytime or early evening, to help boost the natural levels of SMR frequencies in your brain. It's a long 3-hour track, for those people who want a longer session, but you don't have to listen all the way through. If you're using it for a shorter time period, I would recommend you listen to it for at least 15 minutes.
Headphones Are NOT required
How Loud Should The Volume Be?
Adjust the volume to a level that you are comfortable with, which will vary depending on your equipment.
Combine With Other Soundtracks
You can just listen to the tones without any other sound or music. You can also play this while listening to your favourite music on another open tab or a different app.

I think by doing that, you're changing the frequency of the beat itself. There should be other beats that operate on lower frequencies without the distortion that comes with manually slowing the playback speed.

That's because at 1/4 and 1/2 speed, you're hearing a range of 3Hz-3.75Hz, and 4Hz-7.5Hz, respectively. So that's correct, Delta and Theta waves should be helpful for stress relief, especially compared to rather alert SMR range Sigma waves (12-15Hz) 7.5Hz specifically, I have found to be one of the more documented frequencies that I've felt to be good for 'refreshing' the conscious stream of thought, or at least the sub-conscious influences to your perspective

It's so amazing how differently we respond to frequencies. When I went to neurofeedback therapy, they gave me a 20-minute recording of beta to listen to that helped me sleep, but it didn't always work. Last night, I put this video on just as I was beginning my bedtime routine, and I didn't have to do anything else. In less than a minute, I felt so sleepy I turned it off, got right into bed, and slept very well all night. Thank you, Jason! I listen to it through speakers set a few feet apart, so I don't have to mess with headphones, cords, etc. I'm curious whether it will always have that effect. Looking forward to continuing the experiment!

The tones themselves can not be produced at 12hz, because humans can not hear anything below 20hz. You are hearing higher frequency tones played at an interval of 12-15hz. Think of it like strumming a single guitar string 12-15 times per second. That guitar string is probably in the hundreds of hz, but your brain will pick up on the fact the string is being played 12-15 times per second. Your frequency counter is picking up the tone not the interval between the tones. The interval of the tones is what the brain picks up on, it just needs to be able to hear the tone. So, a higher frequency is used when creating the sound.

There are many potential causes, so it’s always going to be a bit of a guess, unless you’re able to monitor your brainwave activity and see what is really going on. Plus you have to consider what other potential factors could have contributed to you being more likely to feel tired. We usually produce more beta brainwave activity when fully awake and alert during the daytime. This range of frequencies is at the bottom of the beta range. So I would consider it to produce a more relaxed level of focus, compared to someone who is producing more high beta activity for example. It could be that you were already a little tired, maybe a little dehydrated, maybe the room or environment you were in was quite warm, had you recently consumed a good sized meal, we’re you sitting in a more relaxed/reclined position? There are lots of things like this which can influence tiredness. So it’s hard to pinpoint one obvious cause. You can experience differing results from the same set of frequencies, if your environment and how you are feeling at the time is different.

Hi Jason. Thanks for the healing sounds! For right hemisphere improvement, would listening with the left headphone/left ear only work? I realize the disclaimer for this recording is headphones are not required. I am trying to isolate/stimulate areas in the right frontal and/or temporal areas of the brain.
@MindAmend
@MindAmend 2 года назад
No, if you just listen with one ear, you end up with a whole brain effect. You need to stimulate both ears with a different beat frequency to be able to influence each side of the brain differently. Based on the current research, it isn’t possible to target the frontal or temporal lobes with this audio, just the left or right hemisphere. I would look up my video playlists for ADHD or anxiety, which target the left brain with a higher frequency. Then switch the headphones around to target the opposite right brain.
@janettemorrow5738

Hi Jason - just curious, for the ones that don't use headphones or when you don't specify, is it still applicable for ADHD? Or if that is what I'm looking for should I just use the ones with that specific label? Really appreciate you and all that you do for the community!
@MindAmend
@MindAmend 3 года назад
One of the benefits of isochronic tones tracks in general, is that they help to balance both brain hemispheres. This is helpful for those with ADHD who often have an imbalance, with more slow wave activity in the left brain. So you can still benefit from the focus/beta wave tracks like this one, which don’t require headphones. That said, if on any given day you feel like you need a stronger effect, I would use the tracks that are labelled for ADHD which require headphones.

how loud should these be, like if its quiet and in the background is it effective or do you have to have it loud for it to work?
@MindAmend
@MindAmend 3 года назад
it doesn’t have to be loud. I made this louder because lots of people use mobile devices and often request louder versions. For anyone listening with headphones or any speakers with some bass, full volume is probably too loud and distracting. You should be able to hear it though, so not so quiet that it’s hardly there. In the background where you can hear it easily if you focus on it but it’s not too distracting. That’s my recommendation.

What is the difference of theta, alpha, beta as far as making some kinda change in the brain . How long being exposed to any of these , is it safe ? Is too long listening unsafe ? For the person that doesn't get physics...No disrespect... , I just want to do this right and see some kinda benefits.
@MindAmend
@MindAmend 3 года назад
Hi Jerri, we produce brainwave frequencies across the spectrum all the time but we are usually dominant in a particular frequency range while in different mental states. As a rough overview guide, we are dominant in delta while in a deep sleep, theta during light sleep and states of very deep relaxation or meditation, alpha while relaxed, chilling out or daydreaming. We are predominantly in beta while awake and alert during the day. Beta has the widest frequency range compared to the others. This track is at the bottom of that range, where you would be in a calm, fully awake, idling-like state during the day. Then if you start to increase your focus on something you produce higher frequencies in the beta range. When experiencing super focus, hyper-alert states you will produce more activity at the top end of beta. As a basic guide, if you are feeling emotionally low, poor energy, low focus, you might use a beta wave track to bring your dominant frequency up. If you are really stressed you can listen to low beta, or alpha to bring you back down to the middle and relax. If you are in a normal awake state and want to try to get into a deep meditative state, you could listen to theta etc. It's considered a safe technology to use. The main known side effect is the potential to get a dry mouth and sometimes some head tension. This can happen if you are dehydrated while listening to beta waves for long periods. The tones increase electrical activity in the brain which makes it work harder and use up energy, i.e. water. You can prevent any issues by just ensuring you are well-hydrated. Everyone has their limits. Exercising and drinking water is good for you but overdo either of them and you can have some side-effects. So although this is deemed as safe, just keep an eye on yourself. If you listen to beta for hours and feel a bit mentally fatigued, take a break and drink some water. Just like you would do if studying hard for hours without a break (which naturally produces more beta waves). I hope that helps. I recommend checking out my article on how isochronic tones work: www.mindamend.com/brainwave-entrainment/isochronic-tones/.

Is there a specific time limit for listening to these frequencies?
@MindAmend
@MindAmend 3 года назад
There hasn't been enough research yet to define a specific recommended limit. From my experience, people are using these types of tracks for longer periods as time goes on. When I started using them in 2005/6, a typical focus track would be 30-minutes. You'd see up to 60-90 minute tracks for meditation and sleep. There would be recommendations put about saying just listen to one track a day. For many years now, lots of regular listeners tell me they use a number my tracks for hours on end, all day long. Like everything though, we all have our limits and what feel like nothing for someone, may be a bit too intense or too much for someone else. So you have to assess your own situation and take a break if you feel you need to. If you are going to use tracks for long periods, one tip I'd give you is to stay well-hydrated. These tones increase electrical activity and blood flow in the brain. That uses up energy resources, which for the brain, means water. So ensuring you're hydrated will keep your brain functioning well.
