Join me on a day in the life of a truck driver delivering feed to farms. I have issues with a low bridge and a lack of HGV parking forces me to park on double yellow lines
This lady epitomises what a professional HGV driver should be. I worked in the haulage trade for several years and saw many atrocious lorry drivers. It a professional job and this lady flies the flag and sets the example. Love your videos. 😘
@anthonycross9310 No pulling a 40 flat no curtains. Having to carry ropes sheets, chains straps, silvesters, 480 gkn pallets 20 high 8 ft 6 in containers, this is general haulage .
Oh yes funny I’ve been on general haulage now for 33 years in November. Very very few firms operate that that now and you should be aware that’s ropes are illegal for load restraints. That lady could do 99.9 percentage of general haulage in the uk without any problems FACT
Total respect to you Jemma. What with the parking on Yellow lines and those weight limits and low bridges you do a fantastic job of what must be very stressful. Great insight yet again to what truckers do daily.
Dear Jemma, I’m really liking your videos, you are very good at narrating and composing a storyboard, including the video composition, this is truly excellent and compelling watching. I can see the makings of a TV documentary here as you make for a really watchable package. I’m watching all your making.❤
Not a lot lately as I'm usually on strike because £100k a year isn't enough to maintain my Rolls Royce and foreign holiday lifestyle.@@entity_dragons2013
Dear Jemma, that is absolutely one of the best driving ever i have seen with such a low bridge and by dropping the air suspension on trailer and slowly watching the manouver to get clear with bear room to spare ,i have never seen a driver with absolutely nerves of steel absolutely 10 out of 10 it is a joy to watch your driving journeys touch wood always may you have the safest journeys always 🙏🙏🙏 best wishes Jemma cheers Declan 👍👍
Great video Jemma l really look forward Saturday to watch what you have been doing throughout the week very professionally done to get under that bridge looking forward to seeing next weeks video 😊😊
My goodness Jemma you are extremely professional and a credit to yourself also an extremely hard worker ! I find your videos great to watch so please keep up the hard work!
One of your best trucking videos Jemma. I know the stress of having nowhere to park from driving coaches and turning up at the services, for an overnight, to find the coach bays occupied by trucks! On road parking is also impossible but at least it's not an endorsable offence on DYL. Well done on that bridge without height markers. You certainly deserved your sleep that night.
@@davidmarshall5603 . The real reason is, like in so many other areas, the infrastructure of the country has not expanded to cope with the increase in both vehicles and population. Successive governments have failed to expand the parking facilities for all classes of vehicles. Take a look at Cobham Services M25 any night of the week for a good example. They take our money in motoring taxes quickly enough but spend it on other things. That said, the fact that a loaded Car Transport fits nicely in a coach bay is not a reason to park there. Despite increases in parking for HGV'(LGV) at both Cambridge and Peterborough services, the non thinking Truckers still use the coach bays! No more stress for me. I am now retired.
Awesome video again thanks Jemma. It's great how you explain everything your doing makes for great veiwing. It must be very tiring making sure you are doing everything right and constantly checking when unloading. That bridge was a bit tight but a true professional checking and double checking, hope you have a fantastic week next week take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
You have me in fits Jemma, when you play back vids at speed all I can hear is Benny Hill Music. Once again Jemma you have my attention. some things you do when making a cuppa, I have to do it as well, It`s got to be done, Enjoy your life and keep them Vids , Just heard you doing your best with are WCA. Italy words.I bet thee bist gowun on a bit as yo pas thic hoss in the vield wiv iz lit oss munching on sum ay. we all spoke like that back in the 1940s. now every one speaks BBC TV! but we still retain the-local accents. Keep them vids a rolling Jemma good entertainment for us old west-country Folk/Voke...............Briddy.
Another lovely video, Jemma. Can't tell you how much I admire your skill in reversing. I had a go on a truck last Friday and the first bit of the reversing test was ok but then I got in a right muddle. Must try it again, I'm determined to master it.
I think that is all you can do, keep practising and it will come like a lot of things in life practice makes perfect. Good luck. I hope you get there. Take care
That bridge was an arse clencher 😂, that’s a nice little Murphy controller on the blower , them controllers are bomb proof, I was gonna send you a set of ear defenders but I see you good a good pair already
This would make a good beginner video for new blower drivers. Interesting to see a new blower trailer to, I find with the trailer I use is that it would blow a lot slower with that 90 bend on, she likes the straight pipes lol but then she is nearly a 30 years old trailer
One little suggestion..please use a glass Pyrex jug for heating in your microwave as constantly heating things in a plastic jug is dangerous as the coating can end up in your food. Great content as usual..well done
It's very interesting to watch your videos. The commentary is interesting also. A wee tip with the tight squeeze tunnel. Just follow your own tracks back out - you could see them on the ground. That cute little bunny was actually a hare!!
Hi there young lady, just started watching your posts in the last week, I'm 61 years old next month and I only used to drive 7.5tonne basically van 😅😂, but really enjoying your posts you sound very down to earth and loving what you do which is half the battle, and totally admit you look like the kind of lady i fancy but apart from that I really enjoy your content you seem so relaxed and definitely i couldn't do some of the things you do in your work well done and look forward to seeing you in a lot more of your trips massive hugs and respect take care 🎉
Talking about the shortage of parking there... we have the same problem even here in the U. S. You'll find drivers all down the sides of truck stops.. down sides of the exits if possible... Walmarts parking lots... closed weigh stations.. As we say here... Keep'er rubber side Down & Shiny side Up! 😊
Hi Really enjoyed this video. I find all of your videos really interesting and you make the job look really easy . The sign of some one who is really good at their job. I bet it’s not as easy as you make it look. Your videos are making want to get a job as a truck driver. Keep up the good work, loving your videos.
This was a very eventful day with lots of action. That low tunnel is pretty scary, there were only centimenters between your truck and the ceiling. You were lucky that was a private lane and nobody hurried you from behind. This newer model blower trailer is very nice. The engine is definitely more sophisticated, although I find it interesting there's only a manual tarp on the trailer. As always the surrondings are gorgeous and even the weather was acceptable. Fantastic vlog again Jemma, you're great in this genre. 😍
Great Vlog as usual . Years ago arrived at a 12"6 bridge in a 12"4 unit but in a town centre. Held a few people up but dropping the suspension and very slow negotiated ok. Lost a few pounds in perspiration though. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks for the videos Jemma, I work mainly overseas away from home so it’s great to see Portland again! Next time your there can you pan the camera to show the white horse as that’s my “home landmark!”. Keep the great videos coming
In Denmark we have very strict rules for driving times, being controlled with the meter in the lorries, when stopped in or for a control. So they often need room at parking areas on the Motorway and other places, all being taken by others. Even parking areas by Supermarkets are used for this.
Another great video Gemma. Its great to see local places on videos , the pig farm where you stopped is less than a mile from where I live . Field opposite is a autograss track .🏁
What a charming pritty clever, professional brave lady lorry driver.Living proof a woman can be feminine and tough all at the same time.Superlative driving skills .
I thought I had dirt on my phone screen but you got a chip in your windscreen lol. Great video 👍👍 But definitely don't miss them days of trying to find a safe place to park up. It's like playing Russian roulette 🙈
Another excellent video, Jemma. I wouldn't worry about parking on those yellows because you could argue that you could not have known that where you parked was still under enforcement due to the yellow lines not being maintained properly in certain places on the road.
... Yikes that underpass bridge sure was a squeaker, sure had to be centered, well done first shot .... bind siding .. had to laugh, you running across the cab to have a look reminded me of a place we went to back in the early eighties in Vancouver that made boxes that we would bring back to the Okanagan Valley for all the fruit packing houses. Anyhow the loading bays were built at a time when trailers were 40 and 43 footers and we were at a time where 46s were common and the 48s were coming on the scene. Anyhow there were two of the bays that had to be blindsided and there was a lot of running across the cab for a looky. ..... know the frustrations of tarp covers not cooperating, hauled wood chips to a pulp mill 03 to 06. Can only imagine the frustration now as the safety requirements dictate that to be on top of the trailer now a fall restraint must be used. .... there are bunnies all over the place when I go in the bush in the mornings right now just as it is getting twilight They are all dark brown but will turn white Octoberish when there starts to be the possibility of snow. Saw one last week that had white feet .... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans .....
The M6 J8/J9 where M5 meets M6 is my Patch. Every day is a nightmare in that area. I drive hundreds of miles without issue, generally. If Im returning home from Scotland, no sooner I hit Hilton Park it grinds to a halt. And if Im returning home from down South, as soon I hit Spaghetti, OR J1/J2 on the M5, it grinds to a halt. That whole area of motorway network drives me insane, daily. 🙂
