KDP suddenly became a lot easier as soon as I understood the concept that I talk about in this video. What do you guys think?

@seemantasarker9165 8 месяцев назад
Nice explanation man. So I am wondering, if I publish in a small (1000 search result) niche, how much I have to spend in ads in high content book to get ranked...like generally. How much money did you usually spend on your book for ranking?
@barrygeorgioukdp

Time to Return on Investment is the Key. I do High-Content BTW. You should be able to do 3-6 months ROI if done right with HC books - on average, because the 80/20 rule applies. Plus as you mentioned, they last longer in terms of generating revenue, as once again, they are more difficult and expensive to make up front. You're winning when you can get +$500/book in net profit/month (Combined KDP and ACX) I'll add this also, despite ChatGPT and the fast pace of book digitization, Paperback will always be King - people love the feel, so create a Brand. Good Video Mate! ;-)

It doesn't make any sense. Why would a RU-vidr who is really making money on Amazon, giving you information that would make all their subscribers a competitor. It's a conflict of interest. They want more subs, but don't want more competition on Amazon... so why are they giving you information that would make you a competitor?

Either direction has it's own pros and cons depending on your own personal interests. What's important is making sure you are providing good quality products for your customers. It's just unfortunate that you chose to bring down other creators making this video. You can provide value in your videos without doing that. I've watched videos from at least two of the people you mentioned and they both provide great content and good advice. I hope to see more like that from you too, you seem like a good guy.

Everything you've explained in this video is what I have been slowly coming to the realization of with my own experiences as well, so I agree entirely with you. I have two high-content books in the works, and I know they are gonna cost a couple thousand dollars which is daunting when sometimes an extra $100 for groceries would come in handy ya know? So it's hard to justify risking that much money but I absolutely believe I have to in order to get the results I want. This will be my strategy too, might just take a bit longer. With the low content like notebooks, planners, etc., I love making them just for the designs, the relaxation, and getting to turn my imagination into a tangible thing, so I will probably always do that just for me. Also, I love colouring books, so I will always make them, and they can be pricey too; depending on who you hire etc. However, I no longer believe either of those is a true 'money-maker'; not the kind of money I'd like :) So I am branching out and learning a lot about what it will take and I'm all for it! Thank you for this video!!

You don't necessarily have to spend thousands of dollars. As long as you find a good niche and create a highly competitive book then you might only need $500 dollars for your first book. Then you can use the profit from that book to put towards your next book. Having the experience of creating a high CTR cover as well as a high converting listing page will give you better results than just spending thousands on a book. You just need to do the correct niche research. Don't worry I'll show you how next week. Thanks so much for this comment :)🙏

You make a great point in the video! I've been realising the same thing lately. I've published quite a few low content books because, as you mentioned, they're inexpensive and easy to produce. However, I'm starting to see that high quality, information-rich books are the better long-term strategy. The only hurdle is that creating high value content requires more upfront investment. But it's becoming clear that the effort is worth it if I want to build a sustainable catalog of books that will continue providing value over time. Quality over quantity seems to be the way to go in the self-publishing world. The initial outlay will pay off down the road through better customer satisfaction and more stable lifetime sales. Thanks for sharing your insights on this - it's motivating me to step up my game as an author!

Yeah this is true. The problem though is that one low content book can cost you $30 for MidJourney premium let's say (if you do it yourself and not outsourcing it).. while the other will cost you $1500. Obviously we all want the more expensive and time consuming option because there's lower competition there BUT.. it's not like you wake up one day and you throw away $1500 so easily hoping that you're on a good niche and you're gonna sell. If you somehow make them from low content books, for sure you migrate to high content books but first you need that income somehow. It's not going from $30 to let's say $200 so you're like okay, I'm gonna risk that $200 which is "a little more". Going from 30 to 1500 is not "a little more" money. I think in the long run, we ALL want high content books anyway. But they are way way more complicated and MUCH more expensive to outsource.
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
My first high content book was written by me and took me 6 months. I didn't have money but I had time. However the first high content book I made that brought in thousands per month only cost me $250. And before people use the excuse of spending thousands on ads, it was profitable from the first month because I did the correct research which is something most new publishers skip completely
@VirusTechKEKW
@VirusTechKEKW 8 месяцев назад
@@barrygeorgioukdp I'm pretty sure I can spend like 3 years trying to write a book and it will turn out a garbage. I'm not a writer. I'd gladly outsource unlimited high content books if I had the budget. Not sure about the prices but as I looked around the lowest I could find from a "pro" ghostwriter is around like what.. 700 euros. It's not that I don't have that money but at the same time I feel I'm way new to this to just risk 700 out of the blue without knowing what will come next. I guess the urban writers could also work but I'm not going anywhere near those things yet because I think the prices are gonna tear me apart. I guess the hardest part in publishing a book is the research anyway. If you can find a sweet spot in the niche and have a high quality book, you'll make sales sooner or later. Ads are just a bonus that can help but as far as I understood aren't so needed if you did your research correctly. Επίσης, πολύ καλό βίντεο και ελπίζω κι εγώ μια μέρα να φτάσω σε high content βιβλία.

@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
@@VirusTechKEKW Love your detailed comment. As far as cost of book production it all depends on the niche. Some niches only need 10,000 words per book which will cost significantly less than a standard 30k word book. Also ads are a must if you want to get the most out of your book. Personally I would never publish a book without running ads. I'm excited to see how you get on with your KDP journey. Please keep me updated :)

A while ago I published a low content book to 'complement' my 2 high content books, even with a bit of existing audience I had no choice but to run ads on it, as there are just SO MANY low content books, and guess what, even though it was selling, it didn't make any money at all, it's just not worth it.

I have not done the math totally, but the recouping of the initial cost for the High Content book will require more sales to break even. Much less for cost of the Low Content book because the initial cost isn’t that much. If you have a good cover and interior etc., you may recoup the cost faster. But if the cost of the high content starts at $1000, it will require more sales to break even. Just my humble analysis if you compare costs to produce. But you also have to do your research going in for both.

You are completely right, black and white interiors cost less to print while colored interiors have a higher printing cost which means lower profit if both books are priced the same. Plus, one can publish 4, 6, even more low content books in the same time it takes to publish one high content book. Seems to me it doesn't matter. Profits will generally be the same, publishing one high content book or several low content books. It comes down to what the publisher enjoys doing more, what they can afford to do. What happens if the high content book fails and finds no audience? Publish 6-10 high content books a year, how many will actually turn a profit once you figure in the higher costs?
