Part 2: • Low Table with Traditi...
Building a low table using only hand-cut traditional joineries (no glue or nails). The wood I used for the legs is Ash (I believe) and the milled material is Beech.
I'm away from my workshop and did not have all the proper tools. Some of the methods shown in the video are not the "proper way". I had to get a little creative with the limited tools I had.
*Disclaimer: This video is NOT meant to be a how-to. It only shows my work process.

The disclaimer in the description suggests this is his version of a half arsed job, but for any normal human this is the hole grail of woodworking achievement. Beautiful.

I like your disclaimer about "how-to". I like to say in my videos, "This video is not a HOW-TO, this video is how-I-do...now, you go do you."

I have adopted your method for making square the tenon and other joint components. My technique needs some work and my chisels need flattening better but it works amazingly well. Thanks for sharing this. I have never seen it before.

Was the video shot in Germany? I thought you were based in Japan. Did you try the famous chisels with the cherries on the handle? (Kirschen Stechbeitel) Is there a comparable Japanese brand?

I notice that you often wet your end grain before making the final cuts with the chisel. What do you use, water, or some type of oil?

very skilful, was a pleasure to watch. FYI, 'joinery' is singular and plural. so strictly speaking, your title should be 'Building a...traditional Japanese joinery'.

My local park and local Christian school worked out a deal with the city to expand their playground by destroying a half acre of trees in the park and a portion of the trail. Areas we have loved and enjoyed for my childhood. The parks left the remains in large piles to decay, then they will mulch them and resell them at a local lumber store owned by a chairman of the Christian schools. So every night I go by on my electric bike and take back the trees that they killed and create wonderful art from them. It's all cedar though, so any ideas on small crafts is appreciated.
