Video of my 2011 Ford F-150 FX4, dropped 5/7 using all 2wd Belltech parts.
Drop consists of : Belltech 25001 drop struts up front, running a 8mm spacer instead of a 16mm with the bottom spring plate milled down about 7/16" to clear the CV shafts better, 1/2 a coil cut in the front, Belltech 6442 5.5" flip kit in the rear with drop shackles, Belltech drop shocks and Airlift 59210 SlamAir bags.

ThatSOB ThatSOB the install was decent djm lists the kit for 2wd only but it works with the 4x4 mines been on for a year now no problems

ThatSOB ThatSOB Ya most companies will definitely tell you the 2wd stuff won’t work on 4wd but I’ve been running this setup for just over 2 years now daily driving in both summer and Canadian winter so it sees some harsh weather

I’ve had buddies try the same combo and didn’t work. The dropped LCA makes the spring plate of the strut hit the CV axle. Good luck with it

That’s how mine was, but it can be hard on struts. I usually went through a strut per year on average but that was alright because I kept a new one on hand all the time. If I did it again I would probably get ahold of IHC for some control arms and use stock strut, or else get a set of Maxtrac spindles and then the Belltech struts

I know this video was done a while ago but I’m looking to do a 3/5 on a 2012 f150 4X4. BellTech says the 2014/2015 kit will not work on the truck. You were able to get that drop without changing the upper and lower control arms?

Ya those struts would be a totally different style. The Belltech struts I used were a 25001

Very nice setup you said you running the Roush cold air intake are you planning to supercharge it also? I have the 2017 Roush Nightmare with a Beltech 2/4 drop kit love it and it’s two wheel drive in Texas not a huge need for a 4X4 thanks for sharing very nice truck I may bag my rear as well

Keith Vital No plans to supercharge it no. I know it’s not a race truck so probably look into building a car of some sort if I want to go faster

Quick question I noticed you said with the flip kit and drop shackles. So this have the 5.5 flip kit and 2in drop shackles on it?? Just asking because I'm about to get my kit in on Wednesday (8-15) and wanted to know that shackles need to be on the truck

How are the angles on the CV shafts with this drop? I'll be lowering my 2012 rclb 4wd this spring. I was hoping for at least 3 inch drop up front. And planned on ordering these same struts. But more wouldn't break my heart. Lol

How low are you up front? And can you give more information on the bags you have on the back. Do they stop you from bumping? I have a 05 f150 fx4 four door and I went 4/6 on it but my axel hits my frame all the time. Nice truck man

Alfredo Hernandez Thanks Alfredo. My truck is 5 inches in the front and 7 in the rear. The kit I run is the Air Lift SlamAir. Part number is 59210. Works well for this kind of application

@@brennanboxallyour good man. Did you enjoy it lowered? Because here in the Carolina’s the truck seen 2wd/4wd are majority lifted/squatted and small amount of lowered trucks so I really like to lowered mine because that looks badass in my opinion.

It’s unfortunate that squatted trucks last any longer than enough time to throw a match into them. But yes I absolutely enjoyed it lowered. I currently drive a lowered GM and wouldn’t want it any other way

What exactly did you do to the front wheels? I have the same kit as you but have some negative camber and i hate it. Your wheels look straight to me and i love it.

Yes I got it to zero camber. You have to move your upper control arms out, so can do that with adjustable control arms or modify what you’ve got. That was such a game changer on mine.

Air bags. Same as you should do with a stock height truck.

Hey do you have any issues with the rear tires rubbing while taking a turn on an incline. I have my truck lowered but it doesn’t look this low and I’m having the rubbing issue

Kurupt 830 would depend on your offset. I have 295/35/24’s on it in summer and they clear now because I rolled my rear fenders a little bit but the 305’s that I ran were just a tiny bit too wide. It’s a +30 offset

I’ve got a question. I’m in NewYork so a bit south of Canada but our winters are also pretty tough. I wanted to know how the Bags hold up through the cold weather. Do they tend to crack or blow after a few seasons?

Hey man. Never had an issue with them. They are designed to be fine in any of that climate. Just always remember to never leave them completely flat. Allllways have at least SOME air in them, even if it’s 5 or 10 psi or you will destroy them

What Belltech kit did you get . I have same truck 2011 they told me I could only lower it 2 front 4 back it would hit the cv joints.

Naa that’s not true. Belltech is a terrible company for supporting anything 4x4. I trimmed down the diameter of my bottom spring plates on every truck I have done them on just to give more clearance for the CV’s

Thanks man. I made new coolant hoses to tuck them under the cover real well so there’s minimum trimming but still a tiny bit. Coil covers are direct fit though

matthew duquette You’ll probably have to run the 1.25” I think they are, Belltech foam bump stops. Mine still hit on a big enough bump so that’s when I did the airbags and keep some air in them always

That's why I'm confused cuz I see that most people have like an inch of clearance in between the axle in the stop and I put brand new leaf springs in and their three leaf packs with the one thicker leaf on the bottom

There’s a few different size ones in the same color. Just make sure you’ve got the smallest ones

Ideally it should have had one but I used the airbags to keep it from hitting the frame. Just kept enough air in them all the time

There can be but I lowered this truck this low before I knew of any support or advice so there are better ways to do it if i did it again. I would probably use the MaxTrac spindles and drop struts. The Belltech struts for these trucks can break if they’re lowered too much due to a poor design

Yes as far as I know they do, the companies will tell you their 2wd stuff doesn’t work, simply so they don’t have to do r&d to see if it does, but I’ve seen 2wd drop spindles work on 4wd’s many times

Adjustable upper control arms to push the top of the tire out. Track width was basically exactly the same front and rear. I couldn’t stand the way the front stuck in further than the rear when I first did it so I fixed that

thank god i live in ohio and 4wd is the way to go but am only has like 2 inch lowering kits for 4wd and i wanted the 5/6 lower

Yes it sure does. The 4x4 & 2wd all use the same strut and spindle as well as lower and upper a arms. The rear is the exact same, so a flip works on a 4x4 just like a 2wd. I dropped my 14 4x4 with 3" strut springs and bought a flip kit for the back. You should be able to lower it 3" without getting into any issues with the front drive axles/pinions.
