This 1992 Saleen surfaced last year and Mark was able to purchase it. Not one to buy project cars not running, Mark still purchased this because it is one of 17 (according to the Saleen Book) to have been built in 1992. The car is all original down to plug wires and Saleen bits. The tires were changed due to them being dry rotted and not holding air.
This car has all the documentation to prove that the Paxton Supercharger was installed by Bleakley Ford making this even more rare that Bleakly Ford modified this one for the owner prior to delivery. Bleakley Ford is becoming synonymous with Ford Motorsport performance add ons in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The key to dealer add ons like this is documentation. And this car has ALL of the documents to prove that the supercharger was in fact installed by the selling dealer prior to delivery to the owner.
One could also argue that the build of this car happened prior to the relationship between Saleen and Vortech found in the later production cars in 1992 and 1993. Vortech superchargers were offered as an option on Saleen Mustangs later. So at the time, the Paxton Supercharger was the option to put on. Vortech's gear driven design would soon outpace the Paxton in the early 1990's. Saleen's partnership with Vortech Superchargers ran until 1999 to the end of the Saleen S351 production.

wow!!! this car is SALEEN to me. being a foxbody guy. i grew up and started driving in the foxbody era. im looking at this and saying what in the hell is making it look different than i remember. 17" wheels!! now we live in a 20" and w cant go back. i had i 91' 25th gt that i converted to cobra spec. i couldnt find the wheels so i had sn95 gt wheels rounded 5-spoke full bolt ons and this same blower. isnt this the only non-gear driven centrifigal the made.i couldnt keep the boost pipe on the intake with any type of clamp but it was the closet thing my saleen dreams. the white with blue across the rockers w/ white penta's no ronal wheels plus gray recaro's holy shit!! thank you guys for being so generous and sharing these very very rare cars. i was a fan of the little scca ranger trucks steve did. they were too cool for school man. again keep this outstanding content spewing forth. you guys are hero's to your fans. belive that. rock on cheers

I drove an 85 GT daily from 2000-2007. Would have daily driven it longer but it had an electrical failure.

I had a chance in 2007 to buy a 1993 Calypso Green Saleen with 1200 miles and I didn't because we couldn't agreement on a price. I have nightmares about that now!🤦‍♂️

@gregory franks I'm so glad that was my time! Absolutely nothing like it. You couldn't buy what you could buy now. And the information and tuning were nowhere near as easy as it is now. The memories are priceless. I was fortunate enough to run a blower on the street when 95% of guys were only trailering cars with them. I've had several S-Trim in every stage but the A-Trim holds the soft spot in my heart. My first blower was a SN89 like the one on this car. It ended up being a blessing as the Paxtons are dead silent and the A-Trim sounds like it makes 30 pounds of boost. I was heart broken when I fired up my Paxton car but it allowed me to get and win alot of races that I wouldn't have got if I had a Vortech sounding like it was coming through the fender. I use to pop my trunk to show I didn't have any nitrous bottles and I just reeled them in from there. Thank you so much for your time and sharing your memories! I greatly appreciate them.👑🏆

I was dreaming of owning cars like yours with a Paxton or Vortech back in those days. I had to live vicariously though the magazines and a couple of friends who owned these cars. I agree, times are different now and keystrokes can give you the power that once was only done through head and cam swaps or a supercharger. Nitrous was the quick hit. Cheap an easy to install.

@Purist Motorsports you definitely get it and understand. The feeling of driving a foxbody in the mid 90s was insane! Especially if it had a blower on it. In 1995 I had Elderbrock Heads, 1993 Cobra intake i cut in half and ported then welded back together myself, B303 cam, 1.6 roller rockers Crane, Crane HI-6 ignition box, 70mm BBK throttle body, Pro-M 80mm mass air for 36 pound injectors, Vortech T-Rex fuel pump, Steeda fuel pressure regulator on Vortech Fuel rails on a stock short block with power steering and air conditioning Vortech A-Trim with a overdrive pulley that was giving me 9 pounds of boost. Mac long 1-5/8 long tube headers, Mac H-Pipe, 2 chamber Flowmasters with 3 inch tailpipes. Tremec 3550, Centerforce dual friction clutch, aluminum driveshaft, SVO 355 gears. Hurst short throw shifter. M&H Race Masters on Weld Drag Lights. I was going consistent 10.60s with a 93 coupe that I drove to the track and back home. I only bumped up my timing and put C16 in it. The feeling never changed on how awesome that was doing that when guys were trailering thier 12 second cars. I felt like a Great White Shark swimming into the bay pulling into the track. And was treated that way also. Only races I could get were street bikes! And i beat most of them.

As usual, I'm confused Bob. What is the difference between a supercharged Saleen sold by Bleakley and and supercharged Bleakley Impersonator?
@PuristMotorsports
@PuristMotorsports Год назад
Supercharger only on the former. The latter “Impressor” got other mods.
@michaelyount3176
@michaelyount3176 Год назад
@@PuristMotorsports - "Impersonator" - as usual, I come close, but missed it by just this much.....
@michaelyount3176
@michaelyount3176 Год назад
So Bleakley would have started with a car like #12 featured, added other changes and sold it as an Impressor?

Correct

So mid 90-92 aren't built by Saleen....makes them more rare, therefore more desirable, valuable.... but given they aren't built by Saleen...wouldn't "real" Saleens be worth more...should they?
@PuristMotorsports
@PuristMotorsports Год назад
They were built by Saleen under contract with a 3rd party. It’s all about Saleen’s authority. Doesn’t make them any more real than another. They were just built in a different facility.

It's bad I still rather have a Fox Saleen over an exotic except an air cooled 911 or F40.

To own a car like that and then not maintain it properly is insane. Not changing the coolant for 30 years is nuts, the original owner must be a little on the dumb side. Thankfully he finally smartened up and sold the car to a deserving owner, glad to see it brought back to life.
@PuristMotorsports
@PuristMotorsports Год назад
I can see your point, but my perspective is that this car is in the shape its in because it was parked. At least the owner didn't go wild with modifying it to "repair" it at that time because its value wasn't exactly what it is today. So because it sat, it was preserved. Many owners would have gone wild with mods to make it fast. The original owner of this one didn't. So I applaud that because it kept it all original.
