I'm no GM expert but why are everyone ditching the actual LS motor?

Tadd Mason a LQ9 is an LS motor. The LS family of engines includes LS1,2,3,4,6,7,9 as well as all the 4.8 5.3 and 6.0 truck engines. A LQ9 6.0 is essentially a LS engine as it falls under the LS family of engines.
