You absolutely owned this video. You didn’t smother Arleen. You asked great questions and knew some much about the build components, but led him into the descriptive. I know shit about builds like this, but I subscribed because of the incredible interview and solid edits. Some creators could learn a thing or two watching this clip. Not sure why the algorithm RU-vid gods sent me here, but certainly glad they did.
I'm 3/4 the way through my first gen build. Bought it stock and did the supercharger/7th injector and bolt-ons. Now I'm almost done built 2j/t56 swap. I am doing just a bed cage for now. If I had known I would have to remortgage my house to swap a 2j, I would have just ls swapped it but I'm so close to finishing it now I can't stop. #allhailthefirstgen
If it had a 1st Tundra 4.7 or a second generation 5.7 I would be impressed. LS1 is a lame pushrod engine that everyone does. People don't know how to think out of the box and like to be followers. Lame.
Hell of a nice way to fill out a Taco! Once upon a time, a '99 Taco was a dream starter truck for me, found a used one for 12K, no one believed me that it was a good deal even though it had 90k on it at the time. Few years later, that first gen Tundra was calling my name, but it never happened. Ten years later, 2nd gen Tundra is mine for life! 😁
Im literally just about to pull the trigger on some control arms for my T100. I’ve been back and forth with Harry all this week. Perfect timing on this video.
It doesn't look too unusual, but he's also got a ton of space between the UCA/spindle and the wheel/tire. I think he just needs wheels with less offset. Most people don't think about that stuff though and just run whatever wheel looks cool.
Idk why buy it seems all of us Toyota guys have the same setup going on, I was worried about mine for a while but a couple thousand dirt miles on mine and no issues!
@@WhyBeNick Good point, My buddy is running OG walker bead locks as well but I designed my kit around 0" offset wheels so even on 37x13.50s the wheel is not fighting him. Truck has over 2k baja prerunning with the stock rack from 2007. I picked my KMC beadlocks because they look cool 😅😂
Right I have a 06 Dakota and loved it. Its like the perfect medium size truck. The back seats arent really big enough to seat passengers comfortably but the 4 door is perfect for the extra room. I wish there was some aftermarket support for it though. Unfortunately Im pretty sure I just blew the motor though so Im driving my first gen tacoma rn.
Not much info shared on the rear end? So, We built it at the end of 2021, when it had the supercharger. We installed 5.29's with a 31 spline spool. Nice truck and glad to see it's still running, JD fab does great work!
I grew up in Escondido and that was what everyone was building out there back in the mid 2000’s. Good video. Only thing I miss about California is the desert 😢
3.4 is great, but my first gen Tacoma S.A.Swap has a 2.7 , much more dependable motor, and as far as riding motorcycles, it's not for everyone, I wouldn't give my bike up for anything! I would get rid of my family before my bike! 😆 Sweet Tacoma but it needs a Dana 60hp in the front, I crawl, ain't no where to go fast here on the east coast, my taco is a Crawler/Hauler , I'm to old and damaged to go fast, I like going so slow you can get out, take a piss and then get back in while rolling! 😆
Escondildo 😂😂😂 My home town and my favorite is Tacoma’s! Crashed in the same desert going over 100 before the sky went sideways- dad sold the 650 bored Baja suspension while I was in boot camp and it’s trucks to a buggy after 😂 This truck would be great to race on the streets back in the last 90’s!
It's a perfect every man's truck! Something you can count on to have good time and enjoy driving without too much fuss and expense. Plus it has A/C. 👏🏼🇯🇵💪🏼
Dude I just broke my leg for the 2nd time recently and had surgery yesterday for rods and skrews in my leg aswell as breaking collarbone from my dirtbike and I’m wanting to build a 1st gen like this and gonna sell the bike. Can’t wait to get a 1st gen asap
Jokes on you the warranty ends soon as you swap it out once🤣🤣🤣🤣 and before someone says not uuuuhhhhh I'm a manager of my local AutoZone so ya hhhuuuuuhhhhhhh
I love the shit that you can do with this truck. No one knows how hard this is to accomplish! The mistakes you make trying to get here can cost a lot of money and you will end up with a mid travel suspension system that looks almost exactly like this even the same manufacturer. JUST SI EVERYONE KNOWS EXTENDED TRAVEL IS MID TRAVEL! Again EXTENDED TRAVEL IS MID TRAVEL! YOU WILL GET THE SAME TRAVEL AS A MID TRAVEL KIT. PROS; You may end up with the BEST mid travel system that money can buy on the market today and all you have to do is switch out the front back coil overs and upper and lower LCAs!
Just picked up my first gen Tacoma. 2002, 3.6, 4wd, double cab, Fabtech front shocks with add leaf, 2.5 lift, and a flowmaster. 142k odometer. Looking to get started on some novice trails in Riverside County and move up from there!
Lmao I know where that is. I used to drift my Starion around there and I was going to have the shop around there do my long travel on my turbo 87 4runner but I ended up selling it... I miss that truck.
This is how the last San Diego man with a crazy built, off-road vehicle ended up losing his license and causing him hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and legal fees
Wow glad happened to click on this video. I also had a terrible accident in July of '00 on an ATV while practicing for an upcoming race and that day changed me forever. Was in really rough shape for awhile after almost dying and my injuries to list a few were a broken neck in 3 places in 2 different disc's, all ribs on right side front and back, broken right wrist (wasn't discovered until 6 weeks after accident) separated and destroyed right shoulder, severed nerves going to my Deltoid in right arm... My life has gone downhill ever since as I also had head injury that completely changed who I was as a person, I didn't see it at first but knew I somehow felt trapped inside my own body.. Has continued to cause issues throughout my life and just never been able to get back on track but always super happy when I see others who have after similar type of things happened to them as well. Glad it's all worked out for you both👊
