LSV hops into a Vintage Cube draft, and finds stormy seas ahead - does he ride the wave or is the tide too high for him? www.channelfireball.com/youbo... Twitch: / channelfireball Twitter: / channelfireball Facebook: / channelfireball
LSV "What's my win condition?" Also LSV *Fire//Ice an opponent 10 times, after casting Time Warp 8 times, after casting Dig Through Time 7 times, while all of his Islands tap for 13 mana, all in the same turn.*
LSV: Today we're drafting cube the hard way, locking into our first two picks and basically forcing storm. Ben S (probably): Umm... *glares* LSV: Yeah, actually that's not drafting the hard way at all. It's just the bad way, but I do love High Tide decks. Made my night.
@@MoronicChunk1 well yeah, it's more of a time problem really. But prices are stupid. And new editions are coming out so fast now, can't really keep up. I still like magic, but no longer competetively. But it's becoming very expensive. When I first bought revised duals they were like 25 bucks (revised). When I sold them (a few years ago already) they were over 100 each. Just as an example
@@saberreiter8569 even the cheaper revised duals now will probably run you $200-$300 and the top end ones like trop, volcanic, and underground sea will probably be closer to $500-$600. Those prices are frankly unacceptable.
@@saberreiter8569 I only play limited so price isn't really an issue for me but they're coming out with a new set or product every other week now and it's just information overload. If Covid weren't around I'd still be drafting at FNM, but Wizards has killed the rest of magic for me, especially commander.
@@GorillaRadio88 I mean sucks is a big word. In terms of powerlevel, it's good once it's going, but using the same spells and casting Yaw Will is better and easier. I think why people don't value the card high is because of 6 mana cost and blue/red. It's vintage after all.. It's too slow. He resolved it once and sure opponent didn't do anything so it was sweet but he won without it just as easy so..
@@notorioezz I think the using the same spells point is really key. Not only is yawg will cheaper, but you have both your graveyard and library to play from. Play thousand year storm and probably have access to 4ish spells in your hand vs. yawg will, where you have the spells in you hand, that first turn ponder, replaying duress, lotus, lions eye. It feels like when you play a yawg will with a stocked graveyard it's just over-plus it just absolutely breaks lotus effects, letting them add 6 mana and 2 storm count in a turn.
This might be one of the greatest, if not the greatest LSV cube draft video of all time. The only one that comes close in my opinion is his 30-minute mono green speedrun.
It's definitely up there with the greats, like the no-wincon "if you 3-0 this draft you get to draft again before recording LR" deck. But they're good videos for very different reasons. :D
This is so insanely well drafted and piloted! I bet 98% of us could never have pulled this off. I know, I couldn't for sure. Thanks for the great content!
Lsv really love your playstyle & pace and this deck was just a piece of art! *Chef's kiss👌 Big laughs in the last game, easily the best CFB content seeing you rock the V-cube:)
what a legendary performance for LSV!!!!!!!!! thx a lot for having this kind of game for those who love COMBO!!!!! this is a master piece for us that love the game!! just........ thank you!!!
As long as you still had mana drain in your deck, casting cantrips was fine in the last game. You just counter all the extra ones with a massive stack of time spirals underneath. Source: I did this to someone in a game where I used Venser to return my time spiral to my hand so it wouldn't exile itself, used Ancestral Recall to draw my whole deck, bounced the original Ancestral, then cast it targeting them for lethal. With a stack of lethal ancestrals and about five more Time Spirals.
cracking Memory Jar (on your turn) doesn't need Narset, it's not brutal cuz they'll get their cards back. but Time Spiral brutalizes the opponent under a Narset, ditto Timetwister.
this was such an absolute blast. I love storm in vintage cube but thousand year storm is one of my favorite cards ever. Only way it could hav ebeen better was if you had expansion // explosion to really hit them with all the mana you got!
Against the smokestacks does it not make sense to clone your own glen rather than rumanap? Then you can sac it and island, it persists and then you get a 1/2 rumanap and still have 2 glen activations / sacrifices
