Soon I will be doing a swap on my 90 gmc reg cab stepside..truck gets alot of compliments and people asking me if it's for sale..took me a while to find one..I had it painted sky blue, belltech 5/7 suspension, front rear sway bar, rear disc brakes, interior is clean all stock..changed out front grill for 94 newer and a cowl hood.it makes the truck look more aggressive. You guys have the baddest OBS builds keep up the great work guys.

95 was still TBI and OBD1 but had newer interior. Trans was a 1 year only. 96 was the 1st year for the Vortec.

'95 model still had the tbi setup. They didn't go vortec until '96

You are correct about the trans. The 95s had a 4L60 and 96+ was a 4L60E. And the 95s still had a TBI 350. 96+ had vortec 350s

Glad you’re learning what needs to be done on a vortec truck to do the LT4 and ten speed. I want to send my 96 to you for such a swap, except mine’s 4wd, which introduces a few additional wrinkles that need to do be dealt with. Can’t wait to see the progress!

In my 20s, I had the same exact truck (Yukon) with a 6 inch lift and also had a 2dr (Tahoe 97 in white) with am 1gen LT1 swap. I sold both over a span of 4 years letting go the low one last. That truck fast very fast. Now I am trying to buy one and they are very expensive

I love the 2 door Tahoes/Yukons! I’ve got a 95 GMC Sierra rcsb stepside with a 496ci BBC myself! However, I prefer the GMC grill over the Chevrolet👌🏼

Justin they did offer a 9c1 cluster that went to 130mph, you have to just do a simple pin out change to move the 12v signal to a different location on the cluster. I’m sure with a month and half to build it you’ll have plenty of time…

I have a 97 2 door Z71 Sport. It's the two-tone blck/gry. Love my 'Hoe and my wife and I were just talking about keeping the truck instead of getting a new one and modernizing it with LS and 6, 8, or 10spd. I figure for the 65k-85k a new Tahoe would be I could turn my 97 into a force of nature.

Bought an ext cab new in 96, but 97 the wipers had to be repainted. Don’t know what GM made the wipers out of, but it wasn’t durable

95 was a bastard year all together. They came with the newer interior but had the old 350 tbi. 96 had the vortec and were known for intake gaskets. I’ve had a 90, 95, 96 and 98. Love the Tahoe/blazer it’s gonna be sick

When ever you do this swap how do you get the lt4 ac compressor to work with the controls in the obs ?

Maybe they went to the Vortec in 95.5 but I do know the had the old engine in 95 as well. Plus the 95 4l60e was a stand alone transmission.

Off the top of my head the 4l60 was the same up to 99. Then a one off year for 99 with a redesigned unit for 99-07. Someone Trans guy can beat me up on this, but I think that's pretty close

I have the bastard child one owner 95 2door tahoe that's almost as clean as this one,I just put a 6.2 in it and a 2009 chevy tahoe dash swap,,and you're right the transmissions are different , I had to learn that the hard way after I did my Ls swap that if I had the 96 and up I could've use the stock transmission but the 95 transmission wouldn't shift gears when I was done!! ig the tcm is different, I'm in the process of putting a 4l80e in now, it's on my page if anyone wanna check it out

I've got a 97 Burban with 260k and a replaced trans, ID SELL MY SOUL to get a rebuilt or low mile 350 put into it, my OG engine has almost 260k miles and still gets 40lbs of Oil pressure but she deserves a rebuild or a break! Plus I'm located in the mid Atlantic so RIP! 😭😭😭😭

95 used a different valve body, and 95 is technically based off of the tbi motor not a vortec 96 was first year
