In this video, I show you the process of Transferring the Ownership of your Car in the Philippines, Renewing the OR, and Car insurance. All the requirements, offices and agencies you have to go to, and the costs!
Dealing with personal finances, especially since it’s not taught in school can be quite hard and confusing. I hope this video and this channel will help you out in the challenges we are facing right now with personal finance, entrepreneurship and adulting in general.
Buying a Car is a HUGE decision, this is only one way to go about it but it’s the least common option. I hope this video gives you another option so you can best weigh the pros and cons. Good luck to you and I hope wherever you decide to buy, you’ll be happy with your vehicle!

Hi! Very informative video! I have a question. We got our car from RCBC too and it's loan was also registered in the Registry of Deeds in Bohol. We need to cancel the chattel mortgage from the ROD. Did the bank completely handle the transaction with ROD? Did you pay extra fees for this? This is the only document we're missing now. I hope you can help. Thanks! :)

Hello, I just bought a second hand car but the problem is the owner lost the original OR and what I have is only a photocopy of it. As for the requirements to obtain PNP-HPG clearance, I need the car’s original OR. Is it possible to renew the registration of the car before doing transfer of ownership? Can I renew the car if I’m not yet the owner? Cos’ I need a newly issued original OR for the HPG clearance. Hoping for your response, thanks.

how much did you pay for the Deed of Cancellation? or did the bank already paid it? Did you have to go to the the Registry of Deeds and did you pay any fees before they stamp a release notation on the Release of Chattel Mortgage as proof that your vehicle is already free from encumbrances?

There should be a one stop shop in lto in transfering the name of car registration that included the hpg clearance since they can be connected online if the car has hits

Hi, can I get the mortgage cancelled from NCR registry of deeds when it should be done in Nueva Vizcaya? The bank wouldn't help me with cancellation and Nueva Vizcaya is too far to go to.

Recently I bought a 2nd hand car for 30 thousand pesos. (LANCER ‘81) I was excited due to it was my FIRST CAR! bought with my very own hard earned money saved for 2 yrs ! In too deep in my excitement, I didn’t look very well into the papers. And just decided to register it later. After a few brief checking, I just excitedly laid down the money and bought the car. Ang Di ko alam, I just found out by and by that the car I bought belonged to an original owner who had died in a serious accident involving the car itself and at the same time hitting a pedestrian dead in the process. And the car was just repaired. Plus, the original CR owner name was different from the OR. Now I even have doubts if the car was a stolen vehicle. Can you please kindly advice me how can I fix this? How can I register it?

Hi maam..quesrion lng po...sino po nag process ng papeles nyo po sa registry of deeds doon sa bohol?at saang branch ng LTO po kayo nag pa remove nang "encumbered" sa Certificate of Registration ng kotse nyo po? Nakabili din po kasi ako ng repo unit dito sa cebu,pero yung unit ay sa TACLOBAN naka rehistro,pati rin sa Registry of deeds sa TACLOBAN din...kuha lang po ako ng idea sa inyo po maam..salaamat po😊😊

The confirmation of OR/CR you say can be applied for online. We bought our car in Cebu but it was first registered in Manila so where online do we apply for the confirmation and do you know the particular form or code? Very helpful many thanks

Hi Charm! For repo cars, will the banks give the photocopy of recent IDs of the previous owner? What if the IDs have expired since the car has been on the bank warehouse for quite some time already?

Hello maam, Ask ko lang po, Kumuha po kase kame repo car by financing sa isang dealer. Then, free napo sa dealer ang transfer of ownership. Kaso yung orig orcr is sinend lang by picture thru messenger. Ok lang po ba ipresent on checkpoints ang orcr printed from pictured on cp??? Thankyou in advance maam!

Hello! For this I’m not sure. I would always recommend going to the bank to purchase repossessed cars since the free marker it not regulated.

The bank will provide this and you have to sign it (if you're the one buying). They will also have all the papers from the prev owner.

You just bought it? If sa deed of sale kakabili lang maybe walang penalty. But nag expire na kasi yan 2019 (3 years initial registration brand new). Buyer usually mag hahandle nyan if hindi na renew agad

Hi po regarding sa valid IDs ng previous owner, you mentioned about these should be not expired. Do you mean not expired on the date of the deed of sale or should be not expired on the date of transfer?

Hi, follow up question though, since the car has been voluntarily surrendered and was already the bank's property, do we still need the previous owner's ID photo copy? Or will the IDs of the employees from the bank who sold the unit suffice?

Needs to be cancelled. Bank should be able to help you with that. I shipped mine also because it was registered in Bohol

Good evening po Maam. This is Elthon Malinao po from Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. tanong ko lang po regarding transfer of ownership. Kasi ganito po, naka bili po ako ng sasakyan under po kay owner A and ito po ay naka leased. Si Owner A po sinurrender nya kay Toyota financial. Binenta ni Toyota ulit ang unit kay owner B at si owner B binenta sa akin ang sasakyan. Si A po may voluntary surrender with special power of atty to sell sya at si owner B may deed of sale po sila with Toyota and secretary certificate. After po from B to my name may deed of sale naman. Pano po ba ito itransfer from owner A to my name? Thank you po.

Some people do a similar thing where they buy repossessed cars and leave the deed of same blank. Check if you can use the documents from Owner A. Since it’s their name in the CR, you will need the documents. ID, etc from them. Gather all the documents from Owner A, B, and Toyota and assess what else you need (chances are, you need all of those po)

Sana matulungan nyo po ako. planning to buy a repo car po kase model nya is 2017 so expired na po ang registration nya..is it ok po ba to travel a newly bought repo car from bank with an expired registration? Hi R2APh, we went to HPG and showed our requirements for a car we bought from a person who bought it as a Repo from the bank. HPG told us to process a payment on the Registry of Deeds even though we already have a notarized Cancellation of Mortgage from the bank. Is this the same with your experience before? Thank you

Hi po, i bought a brand new car through car loan, but i am in doubt because of some scratches that i have noticed few days after the car is released, meron din po ciang mark ng wiper sa wind shield, an indication na prang matagal na ciang na tint despite sa cnsbi ng casa na kakatint lng prior to the delivery of the unit. My chance po ba na kayang palabasin ng casa na brand new ang unit even if it is already used? Salamat po sa sasagot. Godbless...

Hello, if from casa then it’s probably new but maybe it was used for test drive, etc. You should be able to see this sa car registration or by checking sa lto (text “LTOVEHICLE *plate number*” send to 2600

Hi, also bought a used car, The OR CR was transferred to my name last 2018, will the renewal be from the date it was transferred or the initial registration date which was back in 2017?

It should be renewed every year. Month based on the LAST digit of your car. 1=January and 0=October. If you didn’t renew last 2019, you’ve been driving with expired OR (illegal), and will be charged penalty :(

I'd rather walk and take the jeepney than go through all this. In other countries, after you finish paying your chattel, the chattel mortgage holder will send you the vehicle title stating it is free of any encumbrances. Very simple. No need for clearance. No need for multiple trips. Nothing.

They did provide me with everything but the changing of name would be our job because a lot of people buy a repossessed car and resell it so they don’t transfer ownership to their name

No but tagalog is my 4th language. I’m Bisaya and more comfortable speaking in English. Unless I’ll speak Bisaya and Tagalogs won’t understand, kawawa naman.
