@@supercool6665 Just a quick google search. He was busted for EPO. The olympics have also debated getting rid of weightlifting because of widespread cheating.
@Gio' Leyk First video about this I've ever watched. So neither, just inexperienced. Since this comment, I looked up what this user stated, and it seems true. How sad.
Lu’s quads are something else man. Each thigh looks the same size as his waist. Once he’s done with the olympics he should 100% give bodybuilding a shot
@@muellernikolai8630 yeah I’m not saying he should get bigger, I’m just saying if he did a competition prep and got super lean he would look insane. He is obviously already very lean but stage lean he’d look incredible
I would have given him a red too, tbh. He double bends to oscillate the bar. You must be motionless before you go for the jerk. Judges are giving red lights more frequently these days. So Lu stopped doing it. Tao is especially guilty and he stopped too.
@@roncaruso931 Not sure how 'roids have anything to do with it... I'm talking about the fascination/obsession ppl have, and how 25 to 30% of the comments are fixated with his "hiney grabbing" and its possible sexual undertones.
no lol, its just how some weightlifters train. both are allowed. as long as you have your arms extended in the deepest posistion you can jerk however you want, shit if you are strong with you can just press it up while sitting down, but that is allmost impossible@@unibokk

wow! I didn't even think about where I had heard the voice before, you're right! now it feels like interdimensional cable, next up Lasha pulling a truck in WSM, Mike Tyson doing MMA against Joe Rogan, Hafthor arm wrestling Eddie hall and Levan going for the deadlift WR
MrsRandomMadeMeDoIt see the bar whip? Before he jerked it? Oscillation gives advantage/extra momentum to the bar when jerking it since it will bounce back up making the bar easier to jerk/less weight jerked
AARON ANDERSON pause for a while wait the oscillation to be settled then jerk it, but if you mean the dip oscillation/whip it is legal because its already understood that at heavyweights like this whip wont be avoided. Coz he got the redlights from the whip at the moment when he stood up from his clean and jerk it instantly without settling the whip
@Aaron Anderson the whip that's already there after the clean is legal to use to your advantage. A few lifters do this. Ilya Ilyin is know for that. But you cannot introduce more whip. To add whip you'd have to dip up and down slightly. Even dipping up and down once is enough to add whip and you can get red lighted as it's against the rules. If you simply dip down as if to initiate a front squat, you aren't adding whip and that makes it legal.
Love that power this guy goes through the whole complex motion with ease. Then you got power lifters, barely making any movement + gear + grunting making a big deal when they just move a couple inches.
Huh? How is squat or deadlift moving a couple of inches? Also, the WR for deadlift is like 500 kilograms, and this was 204. There is no need to shit on powerlifting to praise oly lifting.
@@Zyzz69420 that's not a rule. The rule is, the lifter must stand still and cannot add any more oscillation to the bar after the clean. The lifter can benefit freely from whatever oscillation remains on the bar after the clean. However dipping after the clean to add oscillation is against the rules and the one judge might have given a red based on this rule. But that's just my guess.
His body is literally designed to be the perfect olympic lifting machine and he’s lucky he discovered that and then dedicated his life to it. On another note, I didn’t even realize you could drop under the bar completely and then just squat it back up, I was fully expecting a jerk. Just unreal.
@@daaneel The press usually launches with momentum from a dip and drive, not even 1/4 depth squat. He squatted to depth with the bar overhead instead, what a power move
Lu is 173 cm / 5 feet 8 inches. But because his torso is so long, and his legs and arms so short he gives the impression of being 165 cm / 5 feet 5 inches. The shorter the limbs the less range of motion the bar has to move.
going down like this with the squat jerk is much more difficult because with the arms close together, unlike the snatch, they tend to go forward, losing balance, so many can not go too far down with the jerk squat
yea pretty much what i mean when i said the split jerk is more stable. ie the squat jerk is less stable due to that forward lean. Lucky for me ive very flexable in the shoulders.

I don't know much about weightlifting so I hope someone can fill me in. I saw a guy deadlift half a ton, someone I presume at one point was 'strongest man alive'. How come a world record like this isn't held by a guy like him? Surely they would be stronger.
A couple things: 1. This is a world record for Lu Xiaojun's weight division. The competitors on World's Strongest Man would be in a different weight division. 2. World's Strongest Man competitors tend to be powerlifters who specialize in slower lifts with heavier weight (bench press, squat, and deadlift). Olympic weightlifting focuses more on explosive movements and highly technical lifts. They're two separate sports so success in one doesn't directly translate into success in the other.
