In this video we install the new Luba 2 from Mammotion in Australia on my own lawn that has a few areas that are very difficult for one satilite navigated robot mower to mow.
We have one lawn that requires the robot to traverse down a rough sloped area, and then through a narrow space that has two houses, tall tress and other things that obstruct the GNSS signal from reaching the robot.

This is the video I've been waiting for. I didn't get the Luba because I was worried about buildings and tree cover. However, if it can make it through that corridor it should be fine with our garden.

Thanks for the review, I see tight spaces and colourbond metal fences and sheds still throw off Luba by some margin, same issue I have, unfortunate to see the camera didn’t solve this problem to avoid contact with hard edges, good to know the satellite reception is better at least. You could try to cover Luba’s satellite reception area at the back with some Alu foil by making a mould and see what happens with zero reception and how the camera kicks in and where it actually helps in which circumstances, perhaps even along hard edges it may be better than with poor signal as you said the camera is not used unless satellite signal is really non existent, but they do need to integrate the camera with low signal to work together as you also mentioned, much like the avoidance system. I feel it’s not enough of a problem solve for me to go from 1>2, maybe v3 will get it right. But I certainly still believe it’s the best unit out there right now over others so I’ll hope for some software improvements to mitigate the minor issues it has.

Thanks. yes I will be doiung more testing with LUBA2 with no satelite reception and I will very likley use a foil cover to block the reception.

Really really useful test - thank you so much for sharing it with us. Can't wait for tests under heavy canopy. At 0:37 one can see an antenna next to the Luba charging station - is that part of the setup or does that belong to an other robot mower?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
thanks. the other antenna there was for the Segway navimow that was in the back ground.

Nice review ! How does it handle rain and wet grass? Do you have to clean the underside often?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 2 месяца назад
The robot has a rain sensor that can be set to go home when it is raining. The robot will still work ok and cut ok when mowing in the rain. It will typically build up with grass clippings if cutting really wet grass. Sometimes this build up just falls away and cleans itself and sometimes it sticks and requires manal cleaning. This is dependant on the type of grass and how much grass it is cutting off. Most of our customers do not have an issue with grass build up.

Hi there. Is it possible to remote login into the mower and live stream through the camera?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
Yes it is and I will have a video on this in the next couple of weeks. You are not able to move the robot around remotely though. You can set the robot off on a task and then view through the camera remotely.

My yard is outlined by high trees do you think the luba2 would have problems navigating yard ?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913

Probably would be fine, but every yard is different and I alway recommend getting a robot mower dealer involved in selecting the right robot for the right yard.

Impressive at least, what if you should go really slow slow when mapping that pathway ?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 2 месяца назад
Thanks. Yes going really slow does help a little. I will be doing more videos on this by covering the GNSS receiver on the robot to map areas with low GNSS signal.

Does it affect the lawnmower that you were walking in front of it? I mean when it tried to go through the difficult section. I was thinking the camera could get confused by your legs maybe?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 25 дней назад
Short answer is yes, certainly when mapping it pays to stay out of the way of Luba. We are still testing how well mapping works when we shroud the GNSS receiver totally so it is not mapping with a combination of both GNSS and vision camera. Hopefully we can show some good results in future videos.

hello, according to you, is this mower a lot better than a h800e ? Thanks
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
As I tell anyone that contacts us, robot mowers need to be matched to your lawn. So in many ways the Luba 2 is better, but also the Segway Navimow series also has its advantages. For instance the Segway is much more gentle on your lawns. It also has a higher body clearance and shorter wheel base, so it will step up and go over hill crests better without getting stuck on its belly. Thanks.

It really doesn't seem like they're using the cameras for navigation. Looks like standard GPS navigation to me with problems in the same areas. Maybe they loosened the precision requirements a little but it really seems like the vision part is just a gimmick for just live streaming for now anyway. Mammotion likes to release products before they're ready. Example where's the lawn art? SIM card functionality? I'm sure it'll come after a few months.

I have another video I shot yesterday that show a very different story than this video when Luba 2 has no GNSS siganl at all. Quite frankly I was a bit impressed. I will post this video in a few days time. I can still see that there is a transition between using GNSS and using vision and the robot can certainly have some navigation issues when it is in the middle. Yes just like Luba 1 there are many udates to come yet, so hopefully the Lawn Art will be soon. Thanks.

camera for now is really only for FPV and backup in case of GPS loss. But I didn't find doing anything for obstacle recognition.

If Luba 2 can position itself with 1 centimeter (even more precisely than Luba 1), how come it wouldn't do anything other than take the exact path that you drove it through when creating the connection between the two zones?
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
Hi. Luba is only 1cm accurate when it has good satelite reception. It is still less accurate when the satelites are blocked. The camer help to navigate, but the camera navigation is not very accurate. Thanks

@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 Got it. So your channel was close enough to GPS obstructions that the signal wasn't good? Still surprised given that Luba is supposed to be able use Vision for a good 100+ feet before it's dead reckoning error threshold is met. It seemed like it was COMPLETELY lost in a very short distance.
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913
@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 3 месяца назад
@@sorka95032 Yes that is correct. I hope with some firmware updates Mammotion will merge the two technologies better, so it works seemlessly between GNSS and Vision.

Yes camera works really well (not). It keep turning and hits the sides. When on a channel (link between two areas) once it has hit once it stops and doesn't go any further... not very well tested piece of kit.

There are certainly some bad experiences out there. I don't know your specific experiences, but I believe the customers that have these negative experiences simply just don't have the support they need. And maybe given the right advice before purchase they may have found that another product would be more suitable for them. Or that no Robot Mower would be suitable. Thanks for sharing.
