Even after 35 years... her voice is amazing as ever... one of the best concerts ever.... a true Canadian icon. Really don't think she got the recognition she truly deserved.
I think whoever said one hit wonder just has no clue. I have enjoyed her for about 30 years now & this is an amazing song that she wrote after her father passed away. All of her songs mean something & I will love her forever.
Thanks to my fiancé living in Canada, I would have never been exposed to the wonderful talent of Luba! Canadian music rocks. And this song still does after 20 years.
Luba, so beautiful to hear you again. A bunch of us had rushed the stage when you and the band ripped into the first song. I was the spell-bound-jaw-dropped kid right up front and center, (ran faster than the others). Later in the set you got nose to nose with my silly "ohmygod" face in one song and nailed every single note clean through me, I never forgot your music changed me that night, broke some dark chain inside just by singing your beautiful soul. Thank you, love and sing on Little Wing.
The single soul that walks alone..... Powerful, breath taking,.. An angel. Only Luba with her sweet introverted sweet soul can take each and every one of us to a humble place :) ..
Luba, Jann Arden, Holly Cole...Canada's unsung musical heroes. I miss Canada during this pandemic. Hope that my past Canadian classmates and my former Canadian students are doing well through all this.
So nice to see Luba on RU-vid since I never hear her on the radio stations in the MD/VA/DC area. Too bad. She's a great singer. Should have made it big outside of Canada like Celine Dion.
Love this artist so much...this song reminds me of my mum and dad, my dad passed away on Jan 29, 2001 and my mum passed away last Friday, on the first of February...this song is so amazing...
What a voice !! What great emotion !! Its so important to have a wide range of musical interests , Luba is a great talent i would love to see her perform live !!
I remember seeing her two days in a row at two great little concerts. Good Band, great voice. I remember her being really tiny but with a huge stage presence and and even bigger voice. Great Canadian talent
I remember seeing her two days in a row at two great little outdoor concerts. Good Band, great voice. I remember her being really tiny but with a huge stage presence and and even bigger voice. Great Canadian talent
She also released The Best Is Yet To Come on the 9 1/2 weeks Soundtrack ... both are awesome. She's truly an incredibly lady and a magnificent musician :)
She may not cracked the Top 20 but I can listen to this over and over again. This is my #1 Luba song. "Let It Go" and "Storm Before The Calm" follow - both are #2.
Angels sing every now and then. Us today are very fortunate to grasp hold of the feeling as we listen to this angel sing :).....As Jeff plays as sweetly :)
I'm American, but have been to Canada so many times I have had the honer to hear many Excellent Canadian singers and bands that were too good to be played in the US. It's Americas loss. Maybe one song will be released in the US and it's called a "one hit wonder" because we really don't know any better; not only about Canadian artists, but Canada in general.
I love this song. That's why I searched for it on youtube I've listened to it a bunch of times but never really knew what it was about. I'm Canadian too and have been a fan of Luba since I was a kid. I thought it was about getting dumped and crying over an ex-boyfriend or somethin' so I just made a quick, of the cuff joke. Sorry about the miscommunication. The song has deeper meaning for me now too.
I first foundout about Luba due to her voice work in the Pokemon anime, where she voiced the character Annie Proctor in the episode "Where's Armaldo". She did it under her full name Lubomyra Kowalchyk. If it hadn't been for this appearence in Pokemon's 7th season, I may neverhave found out about her as I was born in 1992, and while I am from Manitoba, and am a Ukrainian-Canadian, nobody ever told me about her. Well now I know, and now I'm hooked! Thank you 4Kids Entertainment, and thank you Luba!
Saw her perform on the nightclub circuit high energy performance and band, strictly another Canadian artist that never got exposure south of the border in the late eighties and early nineties
To Canadians she is not a One-Hot Wonder but to the rest of the world she is. It is a great song but she never achieved international success. There are many bands that many say are one hit wonders from other countries that had very successful careers that we don't know about. Just enjoy the artist and their songs - if you like them seek out more music by them (in the past this was hard because unless it was actually released by record companies in that country it was hard to obtain)
blinderII A lot of great Canadian vocalists were vastly underrated in the 80's. They never got the credit and attention they deserved because there was no internet/RU-vid back in the 80's for them to market themselves and to gain exposure in the much larger US market.
OVI-Wan Kenobi Definitely agree. I work in community radio in Muskoka and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to broadcast the great variety of canadian content we have to offer.
They are not what I classify as Canadian content. Most of their music isn't even produced in Canada. And besides, nickelback is just so cliche now, and I'm pretty sure everyone over here has disowned Beav- I mean Bieber. Radio stations here use a standard called MAPL to determine whether the content classifies as Canadian content. For stations with particular broadcast licenses, part of what they broadcast is required to be Canadian content (as mandated by the Canadian Radio-Telecommunications Commision or CRTC as they are also known). For example, local artists who are Canadian citizens and have their music produced, recorded, and written in Canada/by a Canadian would classify as cancon artists. Every time i think about the 80s i cry. (Because i know we'll never have musicians this incredible again). Look at what we have now! Losers like Billie Eyelash!
