OMG - this brings back memories. I havent thought about Luba in so long; really loved her back in the day and the music still holds up for me. Shes a great singer!
I love this too!! All of Adrian Lyne's movies are erotic, sensual and in New York City! 9 1\2 weeks in one of my fave movies ever!! Amazing but sad ending :(
Great to finally see the face of this singer. This was my favorite song from the 9 1/2 weeks soundtrack. I always thought the singer was an African American lady because of her soulful strong voice and the writer of this song wrote some great songs for Tina Turner that had a similar style and instrumentation.
Luba is just fabulous. Such a strong and charismatic singer - amazing to watch. Loved her back in the day and its great to hear the music again 8)))) thank you very much indeed.
When love's astray there's nothing you can do about it But who can say? I won't be better off without it I might be down but don't count me out There's a world I want to know all about You can say I'm just dreaming I've always been an optimistic one I can't help feeling that the best is yet to come There comes a time Ain't nothing you can do to stop it Right now is mine I'm gonna make the best time of it
I'm watching this music video for the very first time in my life. I only listened to it dozens of times while watching 9 1/2 Weeks (and wondered ... "Who has such a powerful voice?") Thanks a bunch for posting!
I still remember listening to this song for the first time in the movie 9 1/2 weeks, soon after after i found out who it was, i was calling long distance to Canadian record stores to buy stuff...this was before the internet, i still have the CDs that i purchased, that was well over 25 years or more
Full force.. The voice that will always be recognized in all rooms, I believe : ) .... ooOh Oohhoh .. That's right .. The best is yet to come : ) Luve you ,
The most beautiful song of calypse style taht I have heared. And one the most beautiful love and hope songs in all time. Congratulations, dear canucks. Greetings from a chilean guy that adore them.
i think 9 1/2 weeks was one of the most awesome love stories ever... same w/ wild orchids... it"s sad hollywood doesn't amke movies like that anymore... i also love 9 1/2 weeks part 2... it was more dramatic.
Don't hold your breath if you're waiting for me Today is just tommorrow's history You say I'm being foolish Well, maybe that's so But I'm not afraid of letting go... There's nothing you can do about it I know you'll say I won't be better off without it I'm gonna take my heart off the shelf I made a promise To be good to myself
This soundtrack 9 1/2 weeks still kicks butt in 2019 I am on my4th copy #1 Stolen #2Drunk give away #3 I brokeby dropping it then rolling over it with my wheel chair #4 should be here on 07/ 09/19 good ol A mazon
Michael Mann had honeymoon Suite, Kim Mitchell others from Canada for the t v show from 84-89, why he didnt tap into this angelic performer is a wonder.
@Centaur81: Yeah, it was the perfect song to open 9 and 1/2 weeks cause it foreshadows her meeting John, in a way. Mickey Rourke and Kim Bassinger were awesome in that movie. Have you seen Wild Orchid? Mickey is in that movie too.
I love everything about this movie and the soundtrack!! Mickey was so incredibly sexy and mysterious!! I loved Wild Orchid too!! Missing those good days
from the start to 0:34 is crazy epic! definitly the best part of the song and when it comes back, for me the rest of the song is just to emphasize that part...

I wonder how many comparisons this got with Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It." Luba and Tina have a lot of the same vocal style, and it was written and produced by the two guys who produced a lot of Tina's 80's stuff. Wasn't this Luba's only hit? I don't think their other song from "9 1/2 Weeks" ever got released.
¿Cómo definir ésta rola con que inicia 9 1/2 semanas? Simplemente cachonda. Lo mejor estaba por venir. How to define this song that introduces us to 9 1/2 weeks? Simply horny. The best was yet to come.
9 1/2 weeks is not a good movie, bad acting, bad edition, the story is full of fortunate coincidences and unbelivable situations that you think is science fiction, but above all that, the music is excellent, featuring at least 8 great tunes, including many 80´s idols.
